Iron Man 2 starts.....30 seconds after Iron Man finishes, the journos are all still gawking and chuntering....

Tony: " Heh, gotcha! later ppl"

There ya go, Tony was full of irreverent humour the whole movie.

Finally got around to watching Iron Man, I enjoyed it, probably one of the better comic to film adaptions I have seen to date. This was probably the first comic film I have seen where I actually felt I was in the Marvel universe, probably because of the S.H.I.E.L.D element. I think I will see it again, stoned this time

8/10

Heh. I'm pretty much 5X5 when it comes to changing up details from canon or costumes or anything. I didn't even have a problem with Halle Berry in X-Men. The only comic book movies that I watched that greatly disappointed me were Ghost Rider, F4, Daredevil, Elecktra, Hulk, and X-Men 3. And I was disappointed with those movies as a whole; I can't really pinpoint one single thing about them that really bugged me, but I walked out of the theater, scratching my head, and thinking to myself that I really didn't connect with any of these movies. At. All.

I loved how I walked out of IM and just had a huge grin on my face for the rest of the day. And then the pestering my hubby to go see the thing again started.

I think I'm gonna have to run out and check for the latest Invincible Iron Man issue. Can a relative newbie jump right into it?

From one newbie to another, welcome. Now, you march right into wherever your husband is hiding , look him straight in the face and say: I want flowers , dinner and another viewing of Iron Man , NOW! 'Nuff Said.

Whether he doesnt have many friends or not, he has put them, along with anyone who ever gets close to him, in danger.

I loved IM so i couldnt care less, was just REALLY dissapointed in the ending, thought it was stupid.

^Agreed, there is no way they can out of it now, the onyl bad decision made by Favreau was that ending IMO. Tony/the director, obviously didnt think about the consequences of those words.

Problem with the ending???? Why because he said he was Ironman?

But that is normal.

Fair enough, though you might have been taking a stab at me or something :D

Okay, so I'm a newbie on these boards, and I had to make my first post on this forum. I'm WTF, and I'm a total IM addict. I am a chick, but I'm a total comic book geek. I saw the movie on Saturday, and I've already bought two of the most current graphic novels, and I'm pestering my hubby to go see the movie again. RDJ was perfect as Tony, as numerous others have already stated before. Snarky, caddish, charming, vulnerable.

The movie rocked so very hard. The only weak spot for me was Pepper downloading the "secret" files . . . and Obadiah having absolutely no clue. But even I'm willing to overlook that simply because this movie had awesome acting, funny lines, and the best casting for any superhero movie.

For me, this was tied with X-men as my favorite "franchise starter", and in my top 5 for comic book movies of all time. For the record, the others are X2, Spiderman 2, X-men, and Batman '89.

I thought he did realise...hence the seeing the 'upload complete' on the screen and then running to the Iron Monger....he knew

Stane didn't realize Pepper downloaded the secret files until after she left the room, and he checked the monitor and saw the "download complete" bar (she covered it with screensaver). I thought it was pretty obvious. That's why he went after her but she was able to escape with the SHIELD agent.

No way from the moment Stane opened those doors he knew Pepper was up to something - so he played a little cat and mouse with her....he totaly knew what was going on. Pepper did well to hide what she was doing but Stane knew to wipe the screen saver to see what had been tampered with.

Anybody notice the name of the terrorist group Tony was captured by??

The news broadcast called them "The Ten Rings".

Sound familiar???

I think I phrased my observation of the scene a bit poorly, but Raiden got it right, or at least what I understood what had happened. I just thought it was a bit . . . er, abrupt or, I dunno, just a little poorly set up for me. It seemed like Stane didn't really know, but maybe suspected something was going on while Pep was in the office, but found out as soon as she left. And then went berserk.

That scene didn't really play well to me--I thought Stane was far too smart to allow his "secret suit files" to be so easily transferred to, oh, say . . . another hard drive. Or to make his secret files so easily accessible to anyone who could hack into the system. But mostly, I just groaned and chuckled and went with it. It definitely wasn't as egregious as Katie Holmes putting me to sleep as Christian Bale's love interest in BB.

Still, it didn't take away my love for this movie, or the fact that I need to see this sucker again. Maybe it'll play better to me on second viewing.

Sure! And, as i said; a brand new Iron Man series just came out this week entitled Invincible Iron Man. In addition; Jon Favreau, the Iron Man movie director, is writing a mini series called Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas which also came out this week.

Any and all of you guys interested in checking out the comics, just call the Comic Shop Locater at 1 888 COMIC BOOK and follow the simple instructions to find a comic shop near you. :yay:

About the ending, either way, the public would eventually know who Iron Man is and maybe Stark just wanted to tell the truth without having to keep secrets with him after all that had happened, which led him to become who he is now: Iron Man.

Is Viva Las Vegas in continuity with the movie or preexisting comic storylines?

I used to be a hardcore comic collection, but I haven't been collecting them in quite some time (except buying a few trade paperbacks). Watching IM definitely makes me feel like collecting IM comics again...

lets make something clear. the only reason why he said that he is iron man is because......he is tony stark. didnt you see hes expression? he enjoyed it that he told it to the public.

I saw his expression and with what you said, I agree.

Like i said before...I don't think secretaries and janitors at Stark Industries are in any immediate danger

I gather he told the public b/c he wanted to hold on to his principle of accountability.

Also, is it just me or when he was doing his whole, "I'm just not the superhero type..." speech it was kinda like he was trying to convince himself moreso than the reporters.

The way RDJ delivered the speech was clearly in a way like Tony really didn't believe in what he was saying...hence why he just said, screw it.

Having read the novelization(which expounds more on this) I can tell you that's exactly why he did it. But fret not Secret ID fans(of whom I happen to be one), because they have an out for IM2 and it's all tied up with SHIELD. It could very well be that SHIELD had that press conference on a timed delay and killed the news feed as soon as he said that. Then all they'd have to do is deal with the reporters who were present, as they would be the only witnesses who heard Stark say that. I can easily see them putting the strong-arm on the reporters to keep them quiet(probably threaten to send them to Git-Mo if they tell the world).

After seeing this movie, I have to say Iron Man has the best superhero costume ever.
