What would really be great is if he died in between movies. So that we open with Lois wearing black, and someone saying it's been almost a year...

That way you distance yourself from the grief. Then hopefully the plot will engage the characters so that they don't dwell on it....

No one here wants to see a blossoming relationship between a father and son? Some of you want to see Jason killed? Are you mad. The possibilities of seeing Supes as a father are endless. Let us be open minded about this. Superman is no longer alone in this cold world called earth. Let us show our appreciation to Singer and all those who made this happen. Let us talk about the lessons and interesting stories that can arise from this scenario.

Let us not talk about his death but let us talk about the challenges that faces these two. Superman and Jason. A villain is coming. From the outer reaches of space. And it threatens to tear them apart. Feel free to discuss this in a civilized manner.

just show the kid for the first couple minutes and than have supe do something else the rest of the movie so we forget he exists

God, so much to reply to. But for now the hate-kid-kill-him vs the hate-kid-do-not-kill-him is fun.

lol I thought he was older than that.

Anyway, what I was gettin' at is that if this continuity stays around for a trilogy or so, I'd suspect by a third of fourth film Jason would be old enough to pull a Robin :oldrazz:

Yeah, it's actually funny how the Singerboys put the "totally new and never seen before" Superkid plot on a pedestal, but don't realise that it's the easiest of any plot elements a writer can come up with. Four things can and one of it WILL happen:

#1: Jason loses his powers
#2: Jason gets killed
#2: Jason becomes Superman's successor
#3: Jason or Superman turn evil and fight each other

Sorry Singerboys, there's ZERO difference to the stereotypical "Hero vs Villain" plot!

No, wait! The latter is the one used in the comics and therefore also used in good comicbook adaptations. It's usually done that way to entertain the viewers! --> :wow:

Shocking, I know.

But why would anyone go with that outdone plot in a superhero movie instead of "totally new and never seen before --> Days of our Lives: Redux"!???

...

:whatever:
any of those consequences will make the kid the center of the story. so, i want the "totally new and never seen before" treatment on the kid.

As the old saying, "now theres no reason to cry over the spilled milk". Jason is there already. An unecessary character, yes. Controversial circustancias surrounding him. Yes. Bu theres nothing we can do. Bring villains, add more action and more drama. Bring on Brainiac and Richard as Metallo. OR...

Restart the damn thing, Make it a Superman Begins. Forget the Donner movie. Its done. Concentrate on Superman being raised in Kansas and travelling around the world. Forget Krypton. Foccus on Superman`s ideals.

Make the central theme of the movie about HIS ideals and THE hero not HIS romance, please!!! Obviously u gotta have Lois Lane there and the famous triangle.

But C`mon. Why mess with what aint broke?

like i said, WB just doesn't wanna give what we want. it is too ordinary and no surprise in term of the story. twisted and wicked story people today interested in they may think.

Unfortunately, a restart at this point is out of the question ... I do think Singer should have just went back and handled the origin -- there's nothing wrong with updating a film. He could still have kept the Williams theme and made it work. For some reason, he felt obligated to have to drive the Donner franchise forward -- even though it's been out of the collective conscious for almost two decades.

Anyways, back to the kid. Yeah, I don't know how you handle Jason in the script at this point. I agree killing him isn't a good idea. I don't want Superman and Lois bawling on-screen. It's not that I'm against tragic drama, it's just not what I want in a Superman movie.

I do hope Richard is written out almost immediately so we can get back to the Clark-Lois dynamic. Lois may need to learn Clark is Supes to get this to work given she's clearly not hot for the guy anymore at all. And after what Singer did to Supes' image in SR, the last thing I want is him to turn Clark into an idiotic player who moves in on Lois the moment she's broken up with someone else. That'd be as horrible as when Supes played peeping tom with his x-ray vision and super-hearing in SR.

But the kid? Well, let's hope Singer finds a way to keep him in there without taking away what we do want to see.

Does anybody remember the kid named Seven from Married With Children? Another bad idea adding a kid for no good reason that virtually killed the show. One day, the kid was just gone. No explanation, no reason, just gone.

...one can dream. Now all we need is to erase New Krypton, Richard, Superman leaving, and Lex stealing an old woman's money.

Donner's franchise OUT of the collective conscious. It seems Singer is more aware of reality out there.

It has been done to ceath. Richard - and overall he being heroic - is a valuable and interestimng opponent to Supes; you can't just come and hate Richard.

She has neveer been excited by Clark. What's moe, that's Clark's own idea.

peeping Tom

• noun a person who gains sexual pleasure from secretly watching people undress or engage in sexual activity.

— ORIGIN the name of the tailor said to have watched Lady Godiva ride naked through Coventry.

Superman WAS NOT a peeping tom according to the English language. Thanks.

But the kid? Well, let's hope Singer finds a way to keep him in there without taking away what we do want to see.

I hope that too.

Given what happened in Returns, We have Superman who is now a father. There is no escaping this aspect that Singer introduced. Killing him is not an option. Singer did not introduce him to kill him. Nor will he just disappear or any of those other idiotic ideas. If we get this Singer sequel, we may as well have an intelligent conversation of how all of this will fit together with an impending alien villain(Brainiac) coming to town. So once again any ideas as to what will happen with Superman and Clark Junior? I want to hear ideas.

then might as forget about SR, just like singer told us to forget about SIII & SIV.:D

i love all your points.....its so fustrating reading all these hateful comments about SR, when even though it didnt sell to most, it still was a damn good movie

I agree manofsteel.

Regarding Jason, naturally, the father-son dynamic is most certainly there. As someone earlier said (in a negative way), Singer made Superman lonely. But he is the last of his kind, so why the devil wouldn't he be lonely.

Now though, he knows that he isn't alone. His legacy is important, but he is, at heart, human. He desires companionship. We are social creatures, and Jason gives Supes that social connection. Jason is part Kryptonian, part human. Thus, he becomes a sort of conduit, a way for Supes to feel more human than he ever has before.

As far as Jason's arc goes, I'd say his powers would be starting to manifest themselves during the movie, and Supes is concerned, trying to protect him from Luthor and from whoever the other villain is (my bet is on Brainiac).

And I have faith that Singer will handle him very well. Singer knows how to work with kids to make them work believably (instead of the abominable Legend of Zorro).

Well done wellsy. Great feedback on an interesting topic. Superman is all that is left of Krypton. The last son of Krypton. And now he has an offspring. What could Singer have in mind? If indeed it is Brainiac, who discovers the New Krypton island floating around he traces all of this back to earth where he confronts Superman. All the secrets will be revealed. Including the biggest one of them all , little Jason. Yes....Lex knows as he will also know more about all the information Brainiac holds. The knowledge is power. Superman could be destroyed. What sacrifices will be made? Please feel free to discuss more on this topic. Intelligently and cordially.
