Well she plays a brass so I wouldn't expect much from her apart from looking good and some close moments with Hex.

Yeah, I think she will be more than just sex in the movie, she will be involved in the quieter moments most probably.

And she's on the poster...What the hell?

That scripts old though. I've read it too. I'd imagine there has been some changes to it.

yea the script probably has changed a bit but i doubt she got much of a bigger role.

And she's on the poster...What the hell?
She's a billable actress. Whether she has 3 scenes or 30 scenes, if she's on the poster, it will attract more people. She IS the new ''it'' girl you know.

Exactly, her being in it alone will probably mean more BO returns, they are smart to market her role.

I'll note that at the Comic Con panel, it was basically stated that JONAH HEX looks like a $70 million movie, but cost less than half that. If the budget is really $30 to $35 million, I can't imagine it not making a profit with any kind of push. Heck, get Brolin, Fox, Malcovich, and Fassbender to hit the talk show circuit and push it as counterprogramming and you can market it cheaply.

I think it's obvious that WB has THE HANGOVER partly in mind. A relatively cheap movie, pushed into the Summer, with a smart marketing campaign. Low risk, big reward.

hopefully hex will be a big reward for wb. As for that heavy metal band doing the theme sounds interesting. I know of that band but cant recall any of their work.

If the budget is really that low then I dont see this not making profit, lets hope it does and it gets a few sequels, if WOM is good, it make a lot of money.

I've read the first draft, and it even though it was big in scope, I could tell it was inexpensive to make. There aren't huge elaborate set pieces to build nor huge CGI creations. (Well, there might be but I won't spoill it for you guys)

FWIW, I think WB/DC also sees this as an opportunity to exploit the various other revenue streams they have available.

Say what you will about how WATCHMEN performed in theaters, it sold a ton of graphic novels and that showed up as revenue. I'm sure WB/DC knows that they're not going to duplicate that kind of success with JONAH HEX, THE LOSERS, DEADMAN, and LOBO, but certainly there will be some boost to tpb sales. That's revenue that they likely don't get on an original western, an original modern action movie, an original supernatural thriller, or an original action/comedy. Plus Comic Con gives them an easy way to promote these properties. And there's enough of a comic book following out there to perhaps figure in a good boost to the opening weekend.

If any of these movies make WATCHMEN numbers, I'd bet WB would be very happy.

It's like a win-win situation because like what you said, if the movie of any of these properties become a hit, then the book sales will go up.

I think Jonah Hex might surprise people. Even though the director is pretty much a new comer, if they follow the script, it'll be a very fun, pulpy ride.

The Losers, if the action is good, can be a hit too. The cast is great, but I think Sylvian White still need to prove himself. Afterall, he was the understudy of Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze.

With Deadman, too early to tell because I don't know the work of the Danish director who got the gig. But with Del Toro behind it too, it should be interesting.

Lobo..we'll see. I like Guy Ritchie, but his post Snatch stuff have been mostly misses. I hope that Sherlock is actually legit; if it is, then I'll have more faith in Lobo.

They are doing the whole score, not just a theme song.

as long as they TREAT the score as a score and not just jamming out every 30 seconds, I'm fine with it.

Think of what Radio Head's Jonny Greenword's work on There Will Be Blood.

While I could see it not working, I think it's an interesting non-traditional idea. Something different than another Morricone riff.

oh i didnt know they are doing the film's full soundtrack and all that.

i remember reading that he wanted to keep his eye taped open but they were worried about infection. Anyone know if they at least cgi'ed his eye like they did with two face in dark knight?

There's an article on Jonah Hex with the original directors:

Speaking of which, I hope I’m not treading bad waters here, but Jonah Hex…

Neveldine: Not bad waters at all.

Oh, OK. Well I was actually really excited when I found out you guys were on board, and then you wrote the script and were all set to direct, and then the studio decided to change course and bring in the guy who directed Horton Hears a Who! to take on your script, which just seems like such a bizarre…

Neveldine: It’s just tonally it wound up being very different. We gave them a very hard-R version of the script, which everybody loved. I mean, the studio loved it, the actors loved it. But at the end of the day, they wanted to go with a, you know, I think a PG-13 movie, which probably is the right way to get a younger audience involved, and that’s just not something that we would do.

Taylor: All I know about Jonah Hex is that Megan Fox is hot.

Neveldine: Oh my god. [Laughs] It’s going to be a cool movie.

How much of what you guys were originally planning for that movie do you think will actually end up in the film?

Neveldine: Well… Enough.

Taylor: It’s our script, with a lot of the naughty bits taken out. But hopefully it will retain the energy of our draft.

Neveldine: And it does have Megan Fox in it.

Taylor: And she’s hot.

I've read the opening sequence from the script and it was cool. They really nailed Jonah Hex in it. Too bad it's probably gonna get toned down if they're aiming for PG-13. :(

But to be honest, Jonah Hex was never a Rated R character in the first place. The only character that ruins my argument would be Blade..

Either way, besides some of the cussing and violent acts, the script feels PG 13 anyway.
