Where does the $100 million figure come from? I thought getting sponsorships or whatever you call it when Superman appears on products - pays for the marketing? That's why it doesn't seem to count. But I'm no expert.

Any time you saw a Superman commercial on TV, that cost money. Even if it is on a WB network channel, they are seperate companies and still have to pay for advertising. And SR had more TV commercials than any other movie that summer. You would be lucky to go 2 commercial breaks without seeing an SR commercial on most channels. Any time you saw a magazine article. The stupid laser S's on the monuments. The bus stop adds. the billboards. The 7/11 cups. The posters in 7/11. The Pepsi standee that was in every food store. SR was more overhyped than a lot of Summer movies. Way more than transformers. The WB needed it to be a huge hit and paid for a lot of advertising. When the BO dropped the next week after release, they really started in with the commercials.Where does the $100 million figure come from? You remove yours. the film cost after Australian tax breaks 209 to 213 million. That is what it cost to make. Then the WB spent 100 mill to advetise it. So they spent 309 to 313 on the whole thing. So take your head out of your ass know nothing.Sun_Down said:I swear to God, every time SR-haters bring up the budget, it gets bigger. $313 million? Seriously, remove head from anus and then post.

Variety reported after the Australian tax breaks 209. Yes they spent 100 mill, and SR had comercials on every other commercial break for nerly two months on a lot of WB affiliated stations, spike, ESPN had a commerical blitz for a month. some channels you could not go on a commercial break for almost a month without seeing an SR commercial. God I wish we could bring back the old threads where we had the actual quotes from the trades.it cost 204 million .but then you have product placement and such. i doubt they spent 100 million on advertising, i saw about 3 commercials and none of my friends knew it was coming out
