The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 3

I think Gemma Arteton is too attractive for Lois Lane. I've always pictured Lois Lane as just your standard attractive woman. Arteton is stunning.

Does Superman really need famous names? I think Superman (as a character) stands alone. The movie needs, of course, a good cast, actors who can portray the well-known characters perfectly.

And Cavill just need great chemistry with a talented actress as Lois.

If they make a good casting, we'll have a great movie. And the actors will become stars.

He needs trailers like the one Star Trek and Inception had.

Much as I like Gemma but she's too young to be Lois

I think McAdams is Lois, but we just have to wait on official word. Anyone else?

Does anyone remember on how long we had to wait for the casting news of Lois Lane after Brandon Routh had been announced to play the main role back in 2004? I wonder if we might experience a similar timespan in terms of how long we'd have to wait to hear something official and concrete.

Routh was annnounced in early October, Bosworth was cast in late December '04.

In the 70's they also spent about 2 or 3 months on screentests for Lois. You can find the screentests on youtube.

They need to do at least 3 tests, the actress alone, with Clark and with Superman, because she needs to stand alone as a reporter and has chemistry with Cavill. I'm rooting they choose the right actress, not the most famous or the best friend of someone.

Either her or Wilde.

I think McAdams has the edge becuase her schedule is wide open for the extensive MOS shoot and she a few of her previous roles were practically auditions for Lois Lane.

Once again, it will come down to chemistry with Cavill. If Wilde has better onscreen chemistry with him though, then they will need to work out Wildes' scheduling.

please no lindsay lohan!
please no olivia wilde!

there sooo much better actresses would could play this role better!

liiike:

RACHEL McADAMS

ELISHA CUTHBERT

ASHLEY GREENE

MARY ELISABETH WINSTEAD

I would prefer mcadams, but you won't find me complaining if wilde is cast.

Okay folks, I'm starting too become annoyed with the whole 'she is too hot for Lois" talk. If an actress can play the part and is banging beautiful, whats the harm?

honestly...there IS a "hotness" range for Lois. of course, she can't be busted...but she shouldn't be Adriana Lima or Alessandra Ambrosio either. it's just hard to think that a woman of their sort of beauty would want to be a behind the scenes reporter rather than an actress or a model or at least a television reporter. my ideal Lois isn't someone who i'd see and be frozen at the knees....she'd be an approachable beauty...

...that being said, after Margot Kidder and Kate Beckinsale, i'd GLADLY taking a smoking hot Lois Lane as long as she can act the part.

I wouldn't mind adriana lima as lois. If she had acting skills.

if Adriana Lima feels the need to play a comic character, she can play Aspen from Fathom...hehe

lol I'm unfamiliar with that comic

but thinking about it, lima kinda looks like lois from all-star superman

It's fairly easy to make even most supermodels look 'average'. As with many girls, take away their makeup and you'll likely see a completely different look. Per your example, here's Lima:

Obviously still a looker, but that's definitely a more approachable appearance than her covers on Victoria's Secret. That type of sexiness is just fine for Lois.

yes, but know as well as anybody else that they're not going to put an actress in front of a hi-def (and possibly 3D) camera without makeup. they're going to beautify whatever actress they go with, regardless of how beautiful she already is. also...take into account that this is Zack Snyder, who is known for turning up the sexiness with his leading women.

you're right...an approachable sexiness, but not a drop dead one, like Adriana normally exudes in her public appearances.

Well, MEW is Mary Todd now. So yay, scratch her off anyone's wish list.

Makeup is merely a tool, one that can be utilized in both ways. Kate Winslet also had makeup while filming Little Children, but it was far from flattering. The entire purpose was to make her look homely.

Now with Lois obviously they're not going to go that far, but I do think there's a difference between touching up the actress as per standard movie procedure, and preparing her for a cover shoot, per Michael Bay standard procedure. :p

Personally I don't think I've come across any woman without makeup who was too stunning to look at, so I'm sure we're fine on this front. As long as Zack's intentions aren't too make her a supermodel, I'm confident we won't get one regardless of the actress.

When I think of Lois being American I didn't mean South American.

It's cause they feel a hot actress will overshadow Superman/Clark which I explained why it wouldn't earlier. For those who missed it, films can easily convince people that attractive women can be drawn to less attractive men. Not that Cavill is unattractive of course. I just mean the same way that a model can date a basketball player or a successful businessman. Like how if Superman existed in real life, models would be drawn to him. Someone like Gemma, would be fine for Lois, it's just I don't know if she can do an American accent. If she can I would be happy with her.

He wasn't suggesting Lima, he was using her as an example of hos to get an actress who's supposedly "too hot" to not be "too hot"

I can't believe you brought up Cuthbert and Greene.

haha I had the exact same thought too! How do you say no to Olivia Wilde but yes to Greene and Cuthbert (in which the latter's been disappointing me ever since I fell in love with her in The Girl Next Door)?
