Her mother, Leslie Cockburn (née Redlich), is a 60 Minutes producer and journalist. Her father, Andrew Cockburn, who was born in London, England, and raised in Ireland, is a journalist, as are her uncles Alexander Cockburn and Patrick Cockburn (all of whom are contributors to the political website CounterPunch.org). Her sister, Chloe Cockburn, is a civil rights attorney in New York; her aunt was the late writer Sarah Caudwell, and her paternal grandfather was the novelist/journalist Claud Cockburn.
Wilde has said that as a result of her family background, she has a "strong journalistic streak", being "really critical and analytical".

There is way too much cockburn in this post. Reading it made me feel like I'd better go get tested.

Not my first choice for the role, but I wouldn't mind if Biel got the part.

She's an insipid actress, but incredibly attractive. My brain says no, my ween says yes...

Yeah, i'd be hard for any guy to say no to her . I'm personally not against her . I mean , she wouldn't by my first choice , but I don't think she's terrible actress. She's been in Baaaaad motion pictures to be sure , and I think her film choices have been questionable at best, but she's a decent actress. She was good in the little seen London with Chris Evans. I personally still like the idea of lesser known like Cavill getting the role.

London would probably be the exception, she wasn't terrible in The Illusionist either, but other roles, simple, easy, vapid roles that reuire little to no effort and she still comes off stiff? That's worrisome, meaning a director needs to get the performance out of her, is Snyder capable of that? Possibly, Nolan would be...

Would it really be that big of a deal if she was cast, at a minimum she would do a half decent job, and besides her acting ability is all subjective to everyone on this board, but I guess nothing besides oscar calibre actors and actresses should be considered.

This is a superman movie not oscar bait, they are obviously high on biel and she probably will be put into a superhero movie at some point. Either way we're going to be finding out soon, but I wouldnt get to attached to any particular actress at this point and I can't wait until they announce someone people hate for lois and zod as the villain, this place will loose its mind.

My money is on Biel getting the role Lois should be eye candy anyways . The last films fauly was it was a Lois centric film

it's simple.
No to skinny, ugly, boobs-less !!!

BIG NO to Kristen Stewart!!!

Not sure why you would say this when a lot of people on here including myself have stated they would be pleased with either McAdams or Wilde. Not exactly actresses who have been associated with the word oscar.

While i don't think it would be terrible for her to be cast, but I'm rooting for the names Like McAdams, Wilde, Kunis and even Kruger though she's denying involvement all together. I don't think you need an Oscar calliber actress to play the role given non of the actresses who've played the role were nominated before they were cast. I'm not gonna say "I won't see this film if x is in it" . If Biel gets it she's got my support , and i'm not gonna run her down without giving her a shot just because she may not be who I hope to gets the role. If she gets it ,I'll want her to succeed because I want the film to succeed.

Has Biel's acting improved over the years? I remember her being quite awful though when I saw her in The A-Team, I didn't really notice. Maybe it's because Ramapage's performance was even worse.

If we are going with eye candy, then I say go with Wilde. While Biel's name might be more famous now, Wilde is the girl of tomorrow. She will be more famous by the time Superman is released based on her upcoming films. She is also the better actress. I'd take Ackerman over Biel any day.

lr is legit as it gets.

-broke heath as joker news (most thought it was a joke)
-broke routh as supes news
-broke BB script being awesome news

and a lot of others too. Theyre hooked up.

I saw Cavill in Stardust and Whatever Works, and found him wooden as **** in both. Then again, Reeve and Routh weren't these amazing actors either before being Superman and they were both great imo.

If Nolan (Word is he cast him, not WB and definitely not Snyder - his deal involved having final say hence those "Godfather" remarks) says he's the guy, then he's the guy. So I'm with you there. He'll do a fine job.

Cavill is actually a very good actor. His performance in Whatever Works may have seemed odd and wooden but most of the actors in it were purposely overplaying their roles for the style of the film. Both Tarsem Singh and Nolan have been very complementary towards Cavill's screentests.

Also from my understanding Nolan didn't cast Cavill, he only recommended him. But from day 1 Cavill was in the top 3 of the frontrunners. The casting team did their search in Nov and Dec. Snyder only met Cavill and perhaps the other finalist too about a week before he was cast. They made their choice that week and WB film chief Jeff Robinov gave the okay a few days before Cavill found out. I'm pretty sure they had to submit more than one choice to WB and I'm certain WB had the final say.

Biel is far better actress than Ackerman ..See Illusionionst & Powder Blue. Ill even take Stewart over Ackerman. Easily the worst thing about Watchman . May as well give Bosworth a 2nd chance if your going to hire Ackerman

I did some research, and found they broke the news on July 20th, about a week and a half before the official announcement of Ledger.

I can see why it could be a joke, since he was on no one's radar. What was the reaction around here? I imagine quite amusing now.

everybody was thinking paul bettany or some guy named lachey hume...heath ledger from brokeback mountain wasthe last person people expected

Out of the currently rumored names, I'd say Wilde and would be cool with McAdams.

I remember some of those rumors. I was really young at the time of the announcement, but I do remember some of the actors like Bettany (who I was rooting for) and Hulme. And Carrell.

But I can understand why Ledger seemed like a joke. He was never mentioned, and no one even suggested him at all. It was the definition of a left field choice in every way.

Some of us want Wilde we shouldn't we talk about her?

Also have Latino Review ever been wrong when they have given us their own scoops?
