I don't know how you're interpreting that statement, but yeah, she's just so pretty and sweet looking. To me, that's adorable. It's a compliment really.. I think. :yay:
when i see or hear "cute as a button" i think...."AWWWWW, she's sooo CUUUUTE!" as if looking at a baby girl in pink shoes holding a teddy bear. i think of baby looking girls like Hayden Panettiere or Selena Gomez. many girls mentioned in this thread can be described as "pretty" and "sweet looking" but a select few can be described as "cute as a button".

Not to sound ignorant, but when you say this is the beginning of Superman, are you suggesting that it's going to be an origin film? I was under the impression that the new film would be focusing on a more seasoned version of the character.

s'all good...

Below is the synopsis that they have posted. It sounds about right but ISN'T official. Warner Bros. have released this synopsis to casting agencies to advertise to actors and actresses for the roles in the film.

Clark Kent is a freelance reporter in his 20's, traveling all around the world covering various news stories. While traveling, Kent is forced to fly back into action to attain an assassin instead of covering an ethnic conflict between the Ghuri and Turaaba clans in West Africa. Upon his return to form, Kent returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and become the hero he was born to be.

if this is the plot they intend to follow, then it's very much in line with Birthright.

Olivia was also great in the short-lived series The Black Donnellys. Prior to her debut on this show, she was a blond. Some useless trivia for ya..

And yeah, she'd be an awesome Lois.

I think Wilde and Cavill would be great together.

I see what you're saying. Maybe 'cute as a button' was the wrong choice of words. Still, it's all in the eye of the beholder really. For instance, Hayden doesn't look 'baby looking' to me at all. I'm with you on Selina though. She's 18 going on 12.

Thanks!

I'm still rooting for Olivia Wilde or Rachel McAdams.

Here's my fancast.

With the exception of Amy Adams , prefect casting .

I'm all for Ashley Greene, but she's a bit too young. She's gorgeous and a good actress, but at 23, she'd be fresh out of college.

If we had an older Superman I could see my dream casting of Alana de la Garza, but since we have a 27-28 year old Superman how about:

Missy Peregrym.

She's 28. She looks the part. And she can act with the proper "spunk". Missy all the way.

Missy's the best suggestion I've seen in a while.

Well... the thing is Lois Lane is a really hard role to define. She has to be a sharp, intelligent, sophisticated career woman, who is actually more mature and wise for her age.
The reason for this is she had to grow up fast spending alot of her life on the army scene with her father. She is definitly quick witted and tough.
But at the same time she has to be completely relatable and human. She has to be a person men and women will respond well to. She can't be a sex siren because women might be put off. She cant be too 'sweet girl next door' because that isn't the character.
She didn't get to where she is being sweet. She has to be likeable and funny, which is difficult to portray all at once.

To me, I feel Jessica Stroup would be good for the part. She looks cute and sweet, but also sharp, sophisticated and unique, which is hard to come by.

She has to be TOTALLY likeable even when she's having fierce rants to Perry about stories and kicking someone's ass.
Alot of actresses suggested are either too 'cute' or 'sweet' or not attractive enough or maybe don't seem tough enough.

Playing Lois is no easy feat really, but at the same time if you know her well and know how much of a dediacted human she really is it should come naturally.

I do respect other people opinions or choices but for me Jessica is a great choice personally.

Wow, well thought out response! I agree. I am wishy washy. I can't decide between McAdam's, Wilde, or Stroup. All good in my opinion.

I like Olivia Wilde, but there is something about her that doesn't say Lois to me.

Her face is too hot for Lois, if that makes since

Who would you rather be Lana?

I don't know. It depends on whether they go for an adult Lana or a flashback to Clark and Lana as teenagers.

I think Danielle Panabaker might be quite nice. But probably for a flashback perhaps?

Deborah Ann Woll might be good for an adult version, but I have no idea really.

I still like MEW over Jessica. If you watch her interviews MEW actually comes off more tomboyish than Jessica. MEW's voice is deeper, gives her more gravitas and weight when she speaks, where as Jessica comes off too flighty (reminds me of Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls). I can buy MEW as a reporter much more than Jessica.

And MEW is no shrinking violet. Here she is in the upcoming "Thing" playing another strong woman.

Meh, I'm more of a fan of Mewtwo. :o

Who would you rather be Lana?

I prefer not to see lana at all period . I had to endure watching that character for seven years straight (I'm sick or her and I hate her just as much as I hate Gwen Stacy.) I rather focus on Superman's one and only leading lady : The intrepid Ace reporter Lois Lane.

That makes no sense. Lois has always looked like a knockout babe in the comics (Just because Kidder and Bosworth didn't look like that in the films. Doesn't mean Lois shouldn't look good in this new film franchise.) I'd like to see a hot Lois on the Big Screen in this new film. We got two on the small screen (Erica Durance - Smallville) (Teri Hatcher - Lois and Clark:The New Adventures Of Superman) already time to see one in the movies .

You're telling this to a poster who is vying Ashley Greene for the role.:barf:

why you gotsta make it a MEW vs Jessica thing huh? geez...

'tomboy' doesn't necessarily equal Lois. Lois is supposed to be an aggressive, intelligent and sophisticated woman...not a boy in a woman's body.

well, again, a deeper voice doesn't necessarily equal Lois. sure, Lois needs to sound like a woman but ultimately Lois Lane is a LADY not a tomboy. MEW, especially in interviews, comes off as a bit bland and low key, where as Jessica is more quirky and fun to watch and seems more fun to converse with. you can tell Jimmy Kimmel had more fun talking to Jessica than Mary (the conversation was quicker and more snappy and energetic) and making people comfortable around you is very important if you want to be a reporter.

as for Jessica reminding you of Lauren...i'm not sure how you get that but whatever. Jessica's pretty animated, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's flighty. despite Jessica talking with her hands a lot, she actually seems pretty grounded to me.

And MEW is no shrinking violet. Here she is in the upcoming "Thing" playing another strong woman.
well, i look forward to seeing that movie...but i still think MEW is too bland for Lois. she has a good look, but there are other actresses (aside from Jessica) that are a better fit for the role.

Olivia Wilde?? i dunno, when i look at her she reminds me of bosworths forehead. But other than that ill be fine with her if she got the part.

I'm not liking all these youngsters for Lois. Yes, Henry is 28, but one of the things that makes him perfect for the Supes is how mature and manly he looks these days. We need an actress who would be believable as a seasoned reporter. I'd rather her be older than Cavill than come across as a girl playing dress-up.

So on that basis, I'd say no to Stroup, Cornish, Greene, Winstead and Meester. (I don't think Stroup and Greene have much to offer in the acting dept, either).

In fact, with Cavill's casting, now more than ever my top choice is Michelle Monaghan. I think she and Cavill would look great and could potentially be both adorable and sexy together. But I think Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Olivia Wilde and maybe even Missy Peregrym would be great options as well.

again, i'd like to bring up that the supposed plot is based on Birthright where Clark has not yet decided to don the red cape and doesn't make that decision until at least a 3rd into the movie. if this is the case, then everyone is younger and Lois might not necessarily be a seasoned reporter just yet. besides, Lois Lane is supposed to be wise beyond her years which leads me to my next point...

And to be incredibly pedantic, the youngest person to win a Pulitzer Prize for investigative journalism was 23 at the time.

so yeah, i'm pretty much against Lois Lane looking significantly older than Cavill, who is not yet 28 btw. i wouldn't mind seeing a 32 y/o playing Lois as long as she looks around Cavill's age.
