The Official Mass Effect Thread

I'm not expecting too much at this point honestly. There will probably be a few screenshots and maybe a short teaser but I don't think we'll see the whole game in action for a bit longer yet.

Are they even past the concept stage? I haven't been following the game closely, but I thought I read they weren't even that far into production.

If I go to the Mass Effect 4 panel this year and they do a Q&A, should I ask to make sure they finish the end of the game before they release it?

I think you should tell them to make the game they creatively want to make. F**k, the entitled "fans".

You see that'd be nice but I don't believe the end of Mass Effect 3 was the game they wanted to make...

If you know that then don't fill out things like this and don't complain. Everyone wins

Inquisition has been looking extremely solid, given the longer dev time I expect ME4 will as well.

hmm don't say that. but tell them that they to be straigth forward with ya when you ask them a question if they can't say the keep that way . and don't over promise something game play wise when a question is asked We all know what happened with peter M and then Hudson found out the hard way. yes just be straight they shouldn't say yes when they know they can't deliver that's all. be truthful don't exaggerate.

I think it's what they were forced to settle for during a last minute budget crisis, without having the time to fully realize it was unsatisfying, deprotagonizing crap. And then Casey Hudson got ******** over the reception and did his best to antagonize everyone he possibly could.

I'm a big fan of all three games in the Mass Effect trilogy series (Xbox Gamer Tag: " JASYN RIGDON ", apologies in advance if my 11yr old son is using my login and kicks your tail). I just close eyes and cover my ears and pretend that Star Child / Reaper final choice just didn't happen and that lets me sleep better at night waiting for whenever this new game is ready. The post-game extended content made up for it for me, so I already forgave Bioware. :cwink:

As someone who loved DA: Origins and completely ignored DA2, I'm loving what I'm seeing from Inquisition so far. That game has me excited for what Bioware learned from ME3.

I was here for that mess and I thought the rumor was that the original writer for the first 2 games was axed and that Mac Walters shut out the entire writing team and came up with the ending on his own.

The fact Mac Walters is head writer for ME4 has be a little worried as well. I still think Casey Hudson is good at his job, but I'm not sure about Walters.

Well no one of the lower writer's was let go or left on his own and told the press that Casey Hudson told the other extra writers (which also back that person's claim)they were done and he took the head writer that was currently there at the time and said it was time for a look over on all the stuff on what to keep for the final parts of the story.
Hudson admitted that he was the one that cut out parts and told them what to keep later.

I've been stating in the batman Arkham thread this is what people in Casey Hudson position do. they say what parts of the story stays or goes . The head writers have boss's that's at least two that's both the games director and under him/ her it's the games designer some times the latter is over all boss. But some people in the arkham thread don't want to hear that cause they're bent on putting all blame on Mr. Paul Dini alone.

Even though there was this video from the writer from ratchet and crank stating this him self that this is indeed how it works in the games industry way before these events happened.

There's always a go over on stuff like that. it's like how an editor and mean a good one is supposed to do so ad fix ay mistakes or tell the writer how they felt about the story as a audience member this also why there are script doctor's too i case what ever story the writer want to convey isn't under stood ad the wrong message is picked up that latter steers the writer back on track after Reading it over after letting them know where they went off track. this all suppose to happen befor the story hits the press's or is sent out period.

Obviously I hope they try a lot of weird and wonderful new things with next gen but I'm very happy with the game model they already have in ME3 so even that with standard next gen upgrades would keep me happy. But with this much dev time I expect them to really knock this out the park in all areas. When it comes out it should be the leading game to date.

Perhaps I should have said I don't have much faith in their listening.
Maybe however they reacted at the time, they did actually regret the way ME3 was initially handled with a lot of fans. I think this is the case and that some of these 'listening to the fans' actions are genuine but I won't blame those who feel burnt for not thinking that. You obviously have some faith left at least if you filled that thing in. :woot:

I'm not 110% fully dismissive of ME4. but I just have loads and loads of distrust piled on me. It's true that Dragon Age 3 looking like a turn around though. I suppose Bioware isnt fully beyond redemption.

Mako's back:

Mako planet roaming returns?

A good way to regain my trust.

Apparently the new Mako is not going to have a cannon this time around.

Hopefully the new Mako will be customizable. Add weapons and all.

Those helmets in that pic look more like "Halo ODST" armor to me than ME gear. But not saying that they dont look good.... Imitation is flattery after all. :boba:

Man I have 0 interest in Mass Effect after the third game.

But they're bringing back the Mako....they're trying to pull me back in......AHHHHHHHH.

First and foremost, BioWare wanted to establish that this next Mass Effect game will be set during the same time period as the first ME trilogy, but will not feature Commander Shepard. The developers didn’t rule out the possibility of running into familiar places, but since this game will focus on exploring a vast universe that’s not necessarily a given.

Damn, I was hoping it would be set in the far future. They should just select an ending to ME3 and make it canon.
