Should save some development time & resources. Hope the DA3 core mechanics are top notch in that case. Very excited about both games, although I won't pay Inquisition till I've finished the previous games.

They've been talking up their increased focus on character customization for DAI, maybe they'll bring that over if its actually robust.

Still, I'm not expecting ME4 until 2015.

Damn that's so far away!

I loved ME3 multiplayer but I don't think I'll be playing it much in 2014.

I guess that's good in a way. just start with a fresh story.

although I wouldn't mind if there were SOME mention of Shep's exploits in the game. assuming, of course, that the new series will take place after the events of ME 3.

I'm open to whatever Bioware wants to do with ME as long as it isn't too crazy, although I would prefer a sequel. But a prequel is just gonna have a lot of people saying whats the point if you know how it all ends anyway. Sequel would make you think they would have to canon one of the endings.

How can fans trust Bioware again after Mass Effect 3?

One bad game and one good game with a bad ending doesn't undo all of that. I totally get being skeptical but its not like anyone in here has cut their hand and sworn a blood oath to BW either.

Leviathan and Citadel were both pretty darned good pieces of content and so far Inquisition is looking like a return to form, especially with the 3 1/2 year dev time.

It totally can. How can we trust anything they say when they went as far what happened with Mass Effect 3 only to really just hide away from the world when push came to shove?

Then just wait a week or two for reviews from people you trust, I don't see where this difficulty is coming from.

I hope it takes place over 100 years after 3,Shepard reference by being in history books/holograms or something would be nice.

Why shouldn't we trust Bioware?,Cause of the endings or what?,The rest of the game is still awesome to me and the trilogy is one of my top favorite this gen.

I still find it silly of Bioware to simply say the people who were still unhappy after the EC were a minority. I'm sure most who bought the game simply stopped caring and moved on but from what I see on the forums the majority was still unsatisfied.

Saying they are a minority to me feels like them pretty much saying we are not doing anymore free dlc.

Eh... I think Mass Effect 3 is a heavily flawed game in general, the ending was just the rotten cherry on top. And that's just the game itself, nevermind all the lies prior to release.

Then there's also Dragon Age II... and The Old Republic... and Mass Effect 2... (There's a not insignificant contingent of people who think that game is where Bioware took a turn for the worse. I love it despite its flaws, but it IS flawed in some significant ways.)... and the way EA has been overextending Bioware in general.

Yes, Dragon Age III is looking pretty good... but so did Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3 prior to release. Point is, there are PLENTY of reasons to distrust Bioware. They worked hard earning the damage they've done to their reputation.

I adored mass effect 3 but I haven't played mass effect 2 which everyone seems to rave over. I'll have to give it a go.

I can't wait for the next one. I hope you still have the option for a gay storyline. That made the whole experience unique but at the same time they made it almost impossible to unlock. The second time I played me3 my character became a lesbian very easily compared to all the pointless woo I pitched at kaiden

I think the complaints with Mass Effect 3 is legit, but nah, Mass Effect 2 is a near-masterpiece. I'm sure it's the same insignificant people who said the last good Bioware game was Baulder's Gate 2. Those people..

My only nitpick about ME2 was that the RPG element was a bit simplified. But other than that, it was a fantastic sequel.

ME2 was one of the best games this generation and definitely the best in the ME series

Anyone hope that they'll build optional co-op into the next game? I thought it never made sense that ME1-3 didn't have co-op. I don't care if I don't get to play the main character, as long as I get to tag along throughout the entire campaign, and I can choose to play as one of the other dozen badasses on the ship.

Well firstly I'd still wager the seriously discontented was a pretty small minority. ME2 won a crapton of awards for 2010 despite coming out in Jan and not just from critics but user awards as well. Heck I think it even won on Neogaf's forum of all places. I'd also think it safe to say the immense hype going into ME3 was primarily because of ME2.

Moving on, the only real flaw in that game I thought was that the crew didn't interact with each other more. Everything else, even the simplified RPG mechanics were conscious decisions made in service of the gameplay and the vision they set out for with that game. That's more about expectations based on where they were going in ME1 vs where they ended up with ME2 and for what its worth I think they cut well, the second game is definitely the tightest in terms of mechanics with nary an ounce of fat to be found. Some might say they cut too deep and perhaps so, but I think it made for a more efficient experience.

And I am hoping those days are behind us. Pushing Inquisition back an entire year was a good sign and being much more conservative in regards to their marketing talk and hype at least indicate they learned some lessons from that whole fiasco.

I'd still say ME3 was a good game, not a great game mind you though even then I think it has moments.

And to be honest I had worries about DA2 all the way to release, that game always looked off to me. What I've seen of Inquisition so far (just want to emphasize that) looks much better and more cohesive than anything I'd seen of DA2 prior to launch.

As long as it makes sense.

You run around in a 3 man squad pretty much all of the time. It makes more sense in Mass Effect, than any other game that shoehorns in co-op.

Agreed. I've moved on, but I also know I won't be preordering the collector's edition like I did with ME3. I'm not going to boycott Bioware, but DA2, ME3, and the mess that is The Old Republic (seriously, who ever asked for that game?) has me a bit skeptical. It wasn't just the ending that bothered me with ME3 (terrible side missions, lack of dialogue choices) and I'm hoping ME4 borrows more from ME2 but takes and improves on ME3's combat.

Absolutely. ME2 was one of those games you could play 5 hours straight without noticing the time.
