I don't think it has been confirmed that guy is Zod.....so he could be standing in for some other monster thing they brought along.

Not sure. Some think it's Zod, some say Phantom Zone monster, others say giant robot.

The standin for the CGI doesn't have to be built like Shannon. We don't know what is being done yet...so they could motion capture Shannon's face and put it on a giant Zod or something.

I personally don't think it is supposed to be Zod...I'm just pointing out possibilities.

Absolutely, anything's possible. Sometimes people's imagination just run a little wild and they see what they wanna see without processing it.

the problem i would have with this is that Shannon doesnt look good with a beard. and Zod in Superman 2 had a beard.

I'ts not a sequel, so it's ok if he heas no beard.

The original Zod in the comics also did not have a beard. Of course, he also looked like M. Bison, so I hope they aren't going for that stupid look.

I'm in the camp of wanting this movie to be new and different and not the same old cliches, but I was kind of looking forward to Michael Shannon screaming "kneel" in his sadistic/psychotic voice. Dude can be very creepy. But if Avengers is doing it, it will look like a copy (even though Avengers is the true copy).

I hope (and think) this version of Zod wont utter "kneel" or think like that. He'll probably be a little more complex a character and hopefully more physical.

But I think it's safe to assume the "kneel" wont be included. Purely speculation though.
