Switch The Official Nintendo Switch Thread

I don't have much reason to take my Switch out of the house these days.

but man, if it were around when I was a kid, I know I would be carrying it around everywhere......lol.

It is pretty convenient to be able to continue playing a game in another room, though.

Yeah, I look forward to the new, third party cheaper portable dock, so I can set it up downstairs if I want. And just move between TVs during the day.

I definitely would buy a third party cheap dock. One at my desk and one on the big TV in the living room. That'd definitely be ideal, but I'm not paying Nintendo $80 for one.

oh that's been the talk for some mothns now

Size Matters - The Portable Nintendo Switch Dock Review (4K)

103K views4 months ago

There aren't too many things that I would change about my Nintendo Switch. I've been in love with Nintendo's brand new hybrid console ever since I first got one back on launch day. However, I think that many Switch owners out there will agree with me when I say that the the dock needs a little bit of work. It's a little unnecessarily bulky, too fragile, and could has the potential to scratch your Switch. Luckily we have a solution, and it's far safer and portable. Say hello to the BASSTOP Portable Nintendo Switch dock!

Final Fantasy XV Director Says They Are Investigating What’s Possible With Bringing FFXV To The Switch . September 25, 2017 . 9:30am

Following director Hajime Tabata’s hints at a Switch version during Gamescom, Tabata discussed in a recent interview what Square Enix is planning to do with FFXV and the Nintendo console.

65 comments Read >

During Gamescom in Germany last month, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata seemed to hint at the possibility of the game appearing on the Nintendo Switch.

He later retracted his original comments and simply stated that, while it was “a joke response,” Square Enix wasn’t “dismissing” the console.

When it comes to bringing FFXV to the Switch, some first thought maybe they would try using the Pocket Edition for smartphones featuring a chibified world that was announced last month.

However, it seems that Square Enix is trying to get the original console version onto the Nintendo system. During a recent interview preceding Tokyo Game Show, Tabata told Eurogamer the following:
“We’re actually doing very specific technical investigations into what’s possible at the moment. Where we are at the moment – we’ve completed those tests and have worked out where the ground lies. We’re currently in the middle of the discussion and debate about what we should be doing, and how to realise that on the Switch.”

“The other thing – you see the mobile version, the PC version, one thing we value is to optimise the way the game plays and the experience for the individual hardware it’s on rather than a one-size fits all approach. We can’t currently announce anything – we haven’t come to a full decision on the best way to do it yet. We’re having very open, frank discussions with Nintendo at the moment about what they think is the best thing to do. It’s all under investigation.”

“Honestly, when we did the technical test to see if we could use the same native engine we used on other console versions on the Switch, we tried to run it there, the results weren’t satisfactory. It wasn’t what you’d want from a final game. It doesn’t mean that’s the end of that – we’re looking at the options, like the customisation of the engine. To give you an example how open those discussions are – we’re talking to Epic at the moment, about maybe what we could possibly do there, and if we did a Switch version maybe we’d be able to partner and do something there. Their Unreal environment is just amazing, and will be very useful. You have to have all those options on the table – without that it’d be impossible to make a decision about what we can do on that platform.”

Final Fantasy XV is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will release for PC in early 2018.

Oceanhorn Nintendo Switch Demo Launches In October. September 29, 2017 . 10:30am

Nintendo Switch owners will be able to try Oceanhorn before they buy it next month.

8 comments Read >

Back on June 22, 2017, Oceanhorn established itself on a whole new system, the Nintendo Switch. Which is rather fitting, since the game is in part inspired by games like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Now, FDG Entertainment has announced it will make it easier for people to get into the game. A demo will be released.

The Oceanhorn demo will arrive on the Nintendo eShop in October 2017. An exact date can not yet be provided, as FDG Entertainment has only just submitted it to Nintendo. This means people can see ahead of time if it is worth the $14.99 price for them.

Oceanhorn is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PC, and both Android and Apple iOS devices.

Dragon Quest XI for Switch is developed in Unreal Engine 4

Likely a port of the PlayStation 4 version.

DQ11-Switch_10-08-17.jpg

The Switch version of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is developed using Unreal Engine 4, series creator Yuji Horii said at Epic Games Japan’s Unreal Fest East 2017 at Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center today.

Several Twitter users who attended the event reported Horii as confirming the Switch version is developed in Unreal Engine 4, suggesting that it is a port of the PlayStation 4 version rather than the 3DS version. Horii questioned whether he could talk about the Switch version being developed in Unreal Engine 4, to which Square Enix programmer Mitsuru Kamiyama replied, “you already said it!” It should be noted that Unreal Engine 4 did not officially support Switch until version 4.15, while Dragon Quest XI was originally developed in version 4.13.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age launched for PlayStation 4 and 3DS in Japan on July 29. A western release is planned for 2018, but platforms have yet to be announced.

Thanks, Hachima Kikou (via Twitter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
