I think the Virtual Console might be a thing of the past. With the NES Classic and SNES Classic being such success' (despite low stock), Nintendo might keep their classic games on those types of platforms.

Mario Odyssey - October 27
L.A. Noire - November 14
Skyrim: Switch Edition - November 17

I knew I forgot one. Thank you. All in all that is pretty solid lineup heading into the holidays. This isn't even including the indie titles or the sports games.

From what little I played, Octopath is great. Good voice acting. Amazing music. And I am loving the battle system.

Dammit I should have bought shares in Nintendo in the dark days. :o

that would suck. :( I want to play BOF 1 and 2 on my Switch.

I could get behind the Classic consoles if they were updatable with new sets of games.

but as they stand now, they are "one and done" deals that are closed systems.

So I just learned... Doom is on the Nintendo Switch... I called it. :p

I called a Wolfenstein game, but not 2.

Well, they did say that some classic NES games will be free to play when you subscribe to their online service, so we at least know some NES games are coming.

I just don't know why it's taking so long? I doubt it's that hard to make an NES and SNES emulator for the Switch. I know there's rumors about GC games, but they should at least roll out NES, SNES, GB, GBA and maybe some N64. It really shouldn't be that hard.

The delay on the VC is straight stupid. Same with video apps.

Those are novelty products so its hard to imagine they are banking on those rather than having a proper VC. They stand to make more money on VC than those Classic consoles. No hardware to manufacture, overhead, shipping, retailers taking a cut, etc... Not to mention the games on those are sold at a discount, wheras they can and likely will charge $5-10 per game on VC and people will pay for that

Considering the Switch is running on the same thing as the Nvidia Shield and how you can pretty much put any emulator on that thing, it shouldn't be an issue.

I've never really understood why Nintendo has always been so slow with releasing their virtual console games even back during the Wii, they could role out almost their entire library from the NES/SNES and their GB/GBC/GBA incredibly quickly with little to no optimization issues yet we only get the games as individual purchases that are made available incredibly slowly.

Just played the 1st half of the Octopath demo last night.

and wow!! that's the kind of old-school RPG I've been craving for. ( even though I disagreed with the game's portrayal of crows. :o )

this game is definitely on my radar now. and being a Switch exclusive, if I didn't already own a Switch, I would certainly get one for this game next year, assuming the rest of the game develops nicely.

in fact, if Square Enix ever decided to "remaster" the original FF games ( pre VII ), I wouldn't mind if they updated them to the style used in Octopath.

yeah, it's mind boggling.

you have a built in digital revenue stream with built in demand from your fanbase.

During Variety’s recent Entertainment and Technology Summit, Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime briefly gave an outline of the company’s plans for 2018.

First off, Reggie spoke a little about the Switch, saying Nintendo is hoping to drive the console’s business with “a number of great games.” He also mentioned that, by increasing the Switch’s install base, they would be opening up more windows of opportunity for third-parties.

In addition, Reggie also touched on the 3DS, and reiterated how the handheld will still be a key focus for them. Lastly, he also spoke about Nintendo’s collaboration with Universal Studios on their Super Nintendo World, which is still in the works.

You can check out the entire interview in the video from Variety below(inthe article it's self ):

Next month the demand for this thing is gonna skyrocket due to Mario. That **** always sells, especially because it's an actual sequel in the series and not another Land or World.

Its a sequel to what? I thought all main consoles Mario have been their own standalone thing with the exception of Super Mario World 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Sequel or not, I dont think that matters as its a new entry in Mario on a console. People dont get into it for the story

I consider the first SMB on Nintendo, SMB3, SMW, SM64, SM Sunshine, SMG, SMG2, and this latest one to all be the "actual games". Everything is just kind of an offshoot to me.

All of the New Super Marios are sequels.
