Just finished reading the first 50-odd pages of the PotC3 script.... and now I really, REALLY understand where the subtitle "Calypso's Fury" comes from... At least, the first hints of it.

Wow.... Man, if this script is a later draft and accurate to what'll be on-screen... This movie's gonna ROCK HARD!

I can't really say concerning Davy vs. Jack as only the first 51 pages of the script have leaked... As these movies are usually around 140 or 150 minutes, if you use the "one page, one minute" rule, there's at least 100 more pages to go.

No Davy vs. Jack in the first 51.

But we do get some exciting action of our heroes vs. the Chinese pirates, just within the first few pages.

As for the role of the Asian pirates, well, so far, they've been in all pages of the script except when our heroes go to save Jack from Purgatory. But as soon as they're back, the Asian pirates are back.

At the point where the leak ends, Liz is captaining the Asian ship The Empress.

So, the Asian pirates get quite a bit to do, even in the first 50 pages.

Keith Richards Aboard Pirates 3

June 23, 2006 - Speculation of legendary Rolling Stone Keith Richards joining the cast of the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequels has been raging on for more than a year now. Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow character exploded after the first film and Depp admitted that Richards was an influence. When news of the sequels traveled down the pipeline, stories immediately leaked that Richards would be playing the wobbly Captain's papa.

Through the shooting of the sequels, through set visits and early talk with the cast and crew, nothing official was confirmed.

IGN FilmForce was able to take in a screening of the film earlier this week. Sadly, no Richards appeared.

So now, with the third film left, we took the question to director Gore Verbinski during our exclusive interview and he finally gave the answer we'd all been waiting for.

"Keith is definitely going to be in the third movie… It's a small part, but it's a great part."

So is he playing the father of Jack Sparrow? "No comment. To be interpreted."

A longtime Stones fan, I commented to Verbinski that he needs to make sure that they get Richards to do press for the next film. Interviewing Richards would definitely qualify as a personal career high. Verbinski seemed excited at the prospect as well. "Well, he won't be at this one. At the next one, yeah, that would be great!"

Now that we have a hint of what is in store for Pirates 3, will there be more Pirates to come? Johnny Depp confirmed with Newsweek that he was up for returning to the role in the future. Could we possibly see a prequel to the franchise where we'd learn more of Sparrow's backstory? Verbinski comments: "We're going to get a little bit of that in the third film, not so much in a flashback, but we're going to start developing his relationship with the East Indian Trading Company and what happened there..."

"Right now, it's about finishing the trilogy. After that, whatever happens happens. I think the benefit of doing the two films together is not just the benefit of managing your assets and amortizing certain costs, but it's also about, when are you going to get the team back together? Because everyone's so busy doing different things. So you can talk about a fourth movie, but right now it's a lot of talk. It's a nice sign that Johnny still wants to [do it]. That character fits so well. But, I think, for me you've got to look at the three-pack DVD and go, 'Yeah, that's a whole story.'"

I cant understand why they want to put Jack's father in POTC3, I think it isn't so necessary.

Besides I would make Jack more mysteriious, and I'd not make some points from his past.

Well, Jack is excellent and unique character, which should stay as mysterious hero, who dont have his hystory or he dont want to come back to past times.

Moriarty loved this movie.

No, I don't think it's illogical. And one of our insiders is pointing out that these are only the first 51 pages of a script that's probably 140-150 pages long. He's now hinting that there may be more to Norrington's story than we are currently being led to believe.

Concerning Keith Richards as Jack's dad, it's sounding recently like they're going to leave it ambiguous and not come right out and say whether or not he's actually Jack's dad. Which I'm actually glad about, 'cause that allows my fanfic-in-progress from becoming too AU.

PotC2 is gonna knock the socks off everyone and have them clamoring to see PotC3. And from what I've read of PotC3, it's gonna be SOOOO freaking great... And the final major fight is sounding like it's gonna be outta this world!

from the EITC to the Asian Pirates to (due to being under the control of the EITC) the Flying Dutchman/Davy Jones to the Brethren of the Coast to, of course our heroes (and not-so-heroes, such as Barbossa).

Sounds like it's gonna be a hell of a major sea battle.

But that's about all we know so far, is that general idea. No specifics yet concerning one-on-one fights and battles (beyond what we've already read in the script leak).
