The Dark Knight The Official Plot holes thread.

I mean after Batman found out that the hostages were goons, why didn't he call Gordon and tell his team to not fire instead of taking on SWAT
Call Gordon on what exactly?

And SWAT wouldn't listen to Batman in that situation.

Yea im with you on the resources.. but his goons were from Arkham.. (you need insane people to do the things that the joker plotted lol)

And again I could see how the mob could be helpful in recruiting the nuts from Arkham.

Paying Doc's or guards to get them all out for instance.

Sure the Joker could have broken them out as well but its much easier with the Mob doing it for him.

Yea all good points..

i dunno if this has already been discussed...
ive checked some pages of this thread and i cant find this topic....
this one doesn't really bother me much, ive just been wondering...

after Bats learned about the SONAR CELPHONE, in between the Joker/TwoFace/Mob fiasco and up until the the end of the movie,
HOW the HELL was Bruce ABLE to spread the SONAR CELPHONE to the citizens of Gotham???

...and with Lucious not knowing about it...?

Here are all the plot-holes: http://thedarkknightsucks.com/

not really the only plot hole he grasps properly is the hospital evacuation and thats not neccesairily a plot hole as it is an arguable situation that people actually rushed out of a hospital when a bomb threa was called.
-also he assumes everyone was evacuated im sure the scene implies that some died especially the ones in severe condition::... the reason two face was still there!
-Ferry scene was like a hostage situation so why would police approach the ships he would blow it up and the reason he didnt set it to go off at exactly 12 is becuz if one choose to blow the other up he does not want that ship to blow up aswell he wants thoose people to live with what they did.

-The lau thing is just a suspension of disbelief, i gurantee you 9 out of 10 movies have authorities go after somone based just on a hunch and obviously if they get nothing on him they let him go!

A big plot hole is one he doesnt mention
joker in bruces apartment and absolutely no closure for the scene but to give nolan credit he filmed a closure scene it was talked about in the novel, it is the one with joker in the SUV. Im sure he cut it to make up for long run time.

-Batman finding harvey at the end is assumed with use of sonar but nobody really needs to know that its not important

-I dont remember well enough the scene where batman finds harvey interagating one of jokers men so i cant comment.

That site is getting hits like nobodies business and that guy makes some of the stupidest points possible, its basically a shrine for people who either dislike the movie or intentionally want to dislike it because the masses love it.

There are some minor plot holes with no explanation, ill admit, like the brown to green hair in the bank heist or Batman showing up or leaving with not 1 sound made and no1 noticing until hes gone or appeared on screen (like at the penthouse party). These are minor plot holes that are not really relevant.

At first glance most of the things mentioned on this thread seem like plot holes but they are not when you analyze what happens before or even after the alleged plot hole. That thedarkknightsucks.com website lists some "plot-holes" that are mostly not.

For example:

Every time Batman showed up somewhere no one knew about (like where Harvey was interrogating or where Two-Face had Gordon's family hostage) a cell phone was used, so he probably tracked those places using the sonar thing. Plus where Two-Face had them hostage there were cops making a perimeter, so he probably heard their radios and went there.

Maroni had a cane and was walking with a limp, so he definitely broke at least one foot. He landed on his right foot first before the left foot hit the ground, so he probably broke that one and not both.

A villain not having an origin does not mean its a plot hole. Not everything has to be explained, other wise there is nothing to be curious about in a movie! Its called entertainment, not education.

The evacuation of the hospital was possible in the 60 minute time frame. Gordon told the cops to give priority to Gotham General, which was being evacuated extremely fast and had the most personnel to help with the evacuation, so it was done quickly. Dent was going to be evacuated quickly, as Gordon wanted, but the Joker showed up and killed the cops guarding him. Since every1 else was being evacuated every1 was too busy to notice.

During the Lucius-Batman conversation I think this is clarified. Cant remember the words though.

wow there is a TDKsucks web page.. Goes to show how big this movie is.

Almost every plot-hole or complain presented there has been tackled in this thread, and shown to neither be a true plot-hole nor a editing error (with very few exceptions i.e. green-brown hair), but a narrative choice. And every single "This thing in TDK can't be real, and this is such a huge weakness in the movie because is SO grounded in reality, and that's why the movie FAILS!!" rant, can be easily explained or taking in a workflow context.

Yeah :hehe:. One thing I don't understand is, how strong do you want to make a point, that you spend money in trying to prove something "sucks". (You can also see the other side of the coin, but most sites tend to be neutral bordering on good bias, not fully embracing a whole extreme.)

Honestly seems like an insane waste of money. If I made a site for every overhyped p.o.s. movie. I would be dead broke.

jokers hair going from brown to green tint isnt a plot hole, it is a continuity error a plot hole is something in the story that doesnt make sense and effects the story

In Batman Begins, we see that Gordon has a baby. But in TDK, when it's only about a year later, he only has 2 adolescent kids, and no baby.

if you read the gotham times it says that the majority of loons who escaped arkham could not be found and were declared dead joker probably got to them and became there "leader"

How does the Joker get a crap load of oil cans on the two ships at the end?

So... they didn't search the ships for acts of terrorism soon enough before the passengers loaded them that the Joker's men had enough time to put hundreds of explosives in the bottom of it?

And then when they boarded no body bothered to just do a little check?

Or... the whole security squad were traitors?

This part got to me... one second the Jokers in the warehouse w/ the cops ready to bust him and he burns the money... then Joker see the TV, calls in and informs the city that hes got a hosiptal wired to blow. Next scene hes dressed as a nurse. I know its a movie; but it just a little to fast for me.

I dont think he was TV when he called in the bomb threat, he was just on the phone on GNN.

His sonar was screwing around.
The only two things that bothered me, but only a little where:

1. After Batman jumps to save Rachel, Joker just leaves? Wasn't he still looking for Harvey?
2. Where's the ****ing mono rail from Begins?

1. Who knows, lets just leave that to our imagination.

2. You can see the monorail in the first opening sequence as one of the clowns is waiting for the SUV to arrive, it's in the background.

This plot hole is still my biggest problem> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The first time this happened was when Harvey kidnapped jokers thug after the attempted assasination of the mayor. Harvey takes him to an abandoned wharehouse to interogate while batman interogates Maroni by throwing him off the roof. Then suddenly Batman shows up to stop harvey's interogation. How the hell did he know where harvey was because he sure didn't tell anyone even rachel.

A few have said he was using the bat sonar all along and thats how he found harvey. But that doesn't make since because if he was he would have found the Room with the kidnapped guards without having to pull fingerprints off of shattered bullets, and also would'nt have needed to interigate maroni to find the joker, he could have just found him like he did at the end of the movie. And finally if he was using the sonar there would be reports of a break in in R&D way before that assistant lets licious know.
He had the entire city tapped using sonar, remember?

Plus I'm sure the bats would have had Harvey Dent, the White Knight, under his surveillance somehow using one of his gadgets if it's not with the sonar.

my only problem with the ending is this. surely when neither boats blew up when the clock struck twelve all the people on board would think "oh batman defeated the joker". why wouldn't they? and if thats so why would they be bothered if batman offed a mob boss and some corrupt cops?

Why didn't he use it to find Rachel or Harvey then instead of interrogating Joker?

Personally I don't think it's too much of a stretch for him to find Harvey on one of his patrols.
