The Official Previews Thread

Wow, never thought I'd see the day when I saw any of the Buscema's art referred to as crappy. Believe it or not, there was a day when artists could actually tell a story sequentially, not just make pretty splash pages.

Well put iloveclones.

New Avengers looks excellent.

Team up looks.....Well, its Paco Medina.

Y'know, for all the time Sal Buscema was on Spectacular Spider-Man (I think it was a record, wasn't it?) it always bothered me that his characters look so angry. Peter's eyebrows are always furrowed, his teeth are always clenched, and/or he's pouting or frowning. Maybe the stories he was on were always more depressing. It seemed that way... Pete & MJ arguing, Harry's insanity, clone madness, etc.

Believe it or not, there are some people that are such a$$holes they call people dumb because they dislike 'old' artists.

Oh look, you're one of them!

Sal Buscema is like Jim Lee. His panels are interesting to look at, but his faces are lacking. They look ugly.

Well, unlike you're highly measured response, I don't have to resort to name calling to get my point across.

Everyone can have their opinion. I'm not a big fan of Sinciewicz (I'd probably like him more if I could learn how to spell his name). but I'm not so arrogant to dismiss his work as "crap" and not acknowledge his place in comics.

That's just the cover, man. The interiors look awesome:)

implied insult to Finch, ouch

Yeah, got mine in the mail, and I got the Finch cover rather than the Romita one. Almost tempted to buy the other copy.....

I don't think its a 50/50 deal. My comic shop had the variant to #7 for 20 bucks, so Im sure all them will be rarer than the regular Finch covers:(

I really would have dug having those variants, but im not 20 bucks for them:o

People do it all the time with Liefeld and Kelley Jones. What if someone actually likes them? How would they feel if they saw the vast majority of people calling their favourite artist 'crappy'?

But, if the majority share the opinion, it's okay, right?

The fact that you even like Leifelds work automatically makes your opinion crap.

OK, since you were more polite the second go around.....

I would prefer if someone just said that they not prefer ______'s work and leave it at that. there were a lot of golden age and earlier artists that I found were bland, Ditko and Eisner being two. Over the years, I've given them a second, third, and fourth look, and found myself really liking their work. But I never would've dismissed them like that.

I've poked fun at Liefeld myself, but I've never called his work crap. More likely, I've pointed out what I consider to be anatomical errors (let me just cut throught it....Cap's man-boobs). And I've seen people who basically do call his work crap. Why don't I jump up and defend him? Well, I can't defend everyone, and people like the Buscemas, John Byrne, the Romitas, Will Eisner, Frank Miller,Gil Kane, George Perez, and (the list could go on a long time); these are guys that have earned, IMO, the right to be defended when people easily dismiss their work. Doesn't mean that Manhunter is wrong, because we're talking about taste. But I think they've earned being given a second look. Don't you?

If Manhunter reads comics long enough, he'll start to see them for what they are. I did. Leifeld though? Well, the guy sucks. I can say that with absolute conviction. And thats not because it's "cool" to say he sucks. That is my opinion. I have looked at his stuff, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that he sucks. I'll even go as far as to say that he both sucks and blows. But you know, just one mans opinion.

Well, like I was trying to say: To each their own. If somebody out there likes........

Aw, who am I kidding? He blows.
