I hope the Bone and PS4 get these features, just so I can stop hearing about them. I know everyone has their own priorities, but it's been beaten to death to talk about.

Is it compatible with a PS3 controller? Or any other PS3 accessory.

Its fully compatible with the Move and Navigation. Doesn't work with a DS3

no. I'm already a PS4 owner. bought one last year.

I figured at least by now they'd have updated most of those "missing features." and really, the only features I care about are mp3/mp4/media support, a better, more organized UI, and a better browser that isn't so hard to see on a big screen. Anything else beyond those are just bonuses, imo.

When I got my PS4, I though there's no way I'd even be interested in getting an X1, given the state it was in back then.

However, since then, the X1 has dropped Kinect, dropped in price by $100, dropped the Gold paywall nonsense, and has been updated every month with new features and fixes. And MS has been fairly open in communicating to its customers about those updates. They blog about what's coming in next month's update - does Sony really do that? Maybe right around when the updates set to launch, they'll tell you the new features. but they don't really give you a heads up like MS does.

Not to mention, so far, none of the updates have included features that I care about.

Plus, I've been saving up gift cards and trade ins, so money wise, I could now pay for most of an X1.

So, the X1 has become a more attractive option in recent months. However, with that being said, there really is no compelling reason for me to go out and get an X1 right now. It doesn't really do or offer anything that the PS4 can't already do. except maybe a better browser with IE and a Youtube app. and external storage support.

But the X1 still can't play mp3, mp4, and other media files.

And the PS4 still has more games I'm interested in, and it still seems it's the more powerful system, hardware/performance wise ( however slight the difference is ).

So, ideally, I'd like to stick with PS4 and Sony. But I'm not going to lie and say I'm not getting frustrated by Sony's "slower" response in updating the system with requested features.

I'm hedging my bets and giving Sony until the end of the year to see if they improve the PS4 with the features I want. and see if the X1 adds those features 1st.

Sony can't afford to be complacent with their early lead. Because if the PS4 seems to "stagnate" while the X1 continually improves, they risk losing customers to MS.

and yes, that includes something as simple as a Blu-Ray remote.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Being this early on in the new gen (it pisses me off that people are STILL referring to Ps4/Xbone as next-gen when it is already here; when people say next gen now it should mean Ps5/Xbox Two), I don't think there's any reason to believe Microsoft can not only come back, but overtake the Ps4 in sales. It's not even out in several other territories and the gap in sales isn't that huge.

So I'm planning on buying the white PS4 Destiny bundle. I'm thinking of doing it through Amazon. Has anyone preordered a system or game through Amazon or another site and can provide any extra info I should know? I've heard that sometimes games come early, is that just luck or is there a specific shipping plan I should get?

It does happen on occasion, but you'd most likely have to order it via first day shipping. That way Amazon will prepare you're shipment as soon as possible to get it there on release date. And it happens then sometimes.

Standard free shipping, though? Forget about it. You might get it release date, but you'll have to wait a day or two probably.

how much tax will there be buying it from amazon as opposed to going to best buy and buying it locally?

and maybe that's what needs to happen ( the X1 matching or overtaking the PS4 ) to give Sony the kick in their pants.

the fanboy in me (lol) really doesn't want that to happen. But Sony has been doing a lot of things right anyways, by making Ps4 way more affordable. I don't want them to just stay cocky, they literally can't afford to do that.
I believe it's the same sales tax rate. it should tell you in the checkout.

I only say that because I'd like to have the bundle as soon as possible. If I order it on amazon I may get it later than September 9th. Is it possible my local best buy or college-local best buy will have the bundle sold out by then and not in stock anymore?

can you preorder the bundle?

I didn't think you had to pay any tax if you used amazon, guess that varies by state as well.

can you preorder the bundle?
Of course you can yeah, but I'm not going to until I sell my Ps4, and we (my friend who I sold it to and I) agreed I'm gonna sell it to him close to the beginning of the semester, which is the weekend before August 25.

So by that point, I could preorder the bundle at Amazon but I don't want to wait longer before I can have it, so I'm considering just going to best buy and picking it up launch day but the 2 things with that are:

1) what if the bundle is sold out by then
2) I want to know if sales tax will be higher at the best buy than online with amazon
Actually it varies by state. Some states will have tax be charged based on destination whereas others will have tax be based on location of the business. This link gives a breakdown of how it is for each state: http://money.stackexchange.com/ques...urchases-based-on-billing-or-shipping-address
I just need to know if tax will be higher in store than online with amazon.

No tax with amazon?

I know that I pay tax when I order from Amazon.

No. If your state requires sales tax through Amazon, it'll be the same.

No tax with amazon?

Depends on the state. My state doesnt require me to pay sales tax at the point of sale with amazon, nor does it require me to file that in any tax returns. When I order a game from Amazon, I pay exactly 59.99.

The PS4 is a GREAT gaming machine....

But it's a giant step backwards from the PS3 in terms of multimedia. Which is a real shame considering how advanced the PS4 is supposed to be.

yep.

It wont be, as per the link I posted earlier. Different states have different sets of rules on how tax is determined. Its not always going to be the same as it is locally. For the most part, if its a small ticket item, it wont matter much as the difference will be almost negligible as tax within a state usually doesnt vary more than 2%. It only really becomes an issue when you are talking about more expensive purchases

Purchases made online through Amazon are supposed to be reported on tax returns. The thing is most people ever do that and for something as small as a game, its not likely to be audited. Amazon used to be tax free but as they started expanding, that changed. Its required by law that if a company has a physical location in a state, then that state can collect taxes from the business. In order to be able to fufill their 2 day guarantee, they've been expanding warehouse locations hence why more and more states are now taxed. Consider yourself lucky. My state was tax free for years but they just opened up a warehouse earlier this year and now purchases are charged tax. There really is no advantage with shopping with Amazon now bc of that and the only reason why I'll deal with them is to unload the credit Ive accrued in my account

My state gave amazon a tax break for opening a warehouse in the state. I believe that's why we aren't required to pay any kind of sales tax. So for me, amazon is still cheaper due to that.

my other question with that then would be by that point (august 9th) is it reasonable to believe my local best buy will be sold out of the bundle or not even have it in stock?

No one on here can answer that for you. If you are really concerned about it for day one, then preorder

so, it seems like news of the next update is coming "soon."

hopefully it's something substantial and not just a service patch.........

It's very possible. I'd just go ahead and preorder. If ya decide ya don't want it, then cancel ur preorder.
