are you suggesting this as an idea or saying this is one thing as an answer to the guy in question form?

Any word on a 4K or background changing update?

nope.

It's Sony. We'll get info right before they drop the update.

or, right after MS announces those features, then Sony will come out and say "SURPRISE!!"

Hey I need your help. When I enter my friends on my vita I get my friends list plus my own profile.

My own profile has a psn plus logo next to my name. But it also has a funny square shaped white thing next to it. Is this just a visual thing to tell me "This is your own profile" or is it something else?

is it your avatar/profile pic?

Its cluttered. Everything appears on the same horizontal plane and since they are big icons, it makes it more difficult to navigate than the more simplistic approach of the XMB. It was fine when the console was new and there was barely any content but it makes it more of a hassle trying to find the stuff you want to use than it needs to be. There need to be sorting options (alphabetical, demos vs digital games vs retail, for instance) and the ability to group items into folders for easy access. A search feature would also be welcomed. As it stands the only content that is grouped is the media apps which is ironic given how lacking the system is in media functionality

Oh gotcha. Yeah I can see how having those organizational options would make sense. Id never use them myself, but Sony should provide more options to customize and organize the UI. Everyone wants something different to fit their needs.

Xbone's already got 4K, and I assumed they also already have the option to change their background

c'MONNNNN SONY

as far as I know, there's no option to change the background on the X1, either. although I do believe you can change the color of the "tiles."

and the X1 already has 4K?? didn't know that........but that's not a big deal to me.

4K capability isnt important to me until the 4K tvs cost around $300. Right now at my local best buy they are still $6,000-$9,000. So I can wait a while for that feature.

No one cares about 4K. Its far from being a standard and really isn't on the high list of priority. The amount of PS4 owners that actually own a 4K set is likely a VERY small number. There is a lot more important things for Sony to implement

yep.

I'll be royally pissed if Sony adds 4K support before more important features.

I do.

Back when the Ps3 was launched, no one cared about blu ray. But sony invested their balls off into blu ray and the Ps3 was one of the heaviest pushers of that new technology. I wish the new gen consoles were more about that as well.

according to wikipedia, the xbone does indeed have 4K, and that is a big deal to me seeing as how the Ps4 does NOT :cmad:

hmm maybe you should look into this the

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 2030 Review

Shaun's score 7.0 & Steve's score 7.5

source: EPN.TV

it's not really a TV but it can be way better than what your seeking. if you can afford it.

wouldn't 4K only benefit you......if you had a 4K capable hdtv?

I want my Ps4 to be able deliver the latest and highest visuals, just like how Ps3 was future proof with blu ray and even further back when the Ps2 was an automatic DVD player, which was probably a new thing back then as well

Well that device will satisfy you then or it should. or you can still push it off and pick up the tv you seek but that devise would/should be enough if you some how don't pick what you seek up.

yeah, and having a 4K outputting device would definitely provide incentive for one to save up and get one

i'm sure it would man but that device is not a playstation, or an xbox for all intents and purposes of my point

It's not meant to be a ps4 or Xbox . Its to be used to show the ps4 or Xbox 's off. You hook the ps4 pr Xbox's up to it like you would a tv and it's not another gaming device. It's a alternative to the tv's. Not a games system, it's self. Look at the video they played watch dog's on it like you would on a tv.

Your talking about screens and that shows what you seek off to a degree. How it was mistaken when we're talking about screens I Don't know. but that device is about screens but it's alliterative to them as well, look at it.

4k tv's won't be the standard for a while in alot of house holds and sony will hold off a bit on that til it is. If that ever happens that is.

ohhhhhhhh okay, my bad. I clicked your link and skimmed for about half a minute until I start doing something else. But yeah I'll look into this

Are you saying you don't think 4K will ever catch on? And that 1080p will be the standard forever?

4k will eventually be the television standard. Thats inevitable. Manufacturers are always looking to sell the newest and best thing and just like 720p was replaced by 1080i, and 1080i was replaced by 1080p eventually 4k will be the standard tv resolution. Might take another 5-10 years, but it will happen.

No something will take the place of 1080p there's always something eventfully. It may as well be 4K even. I just said ythe words "for a bit" due to the cost currently it's oi down. But there's always something else.

4K will catch on only when those displays come way down in price to more affordable levels.

When we start seeing 4K TV's for 700 dollars or less.. that's when I'll give a crap about it.

They will drop in price. TVs always do. When my parents bought their Sony 32" LCD 720p TV years back when LCD was new tech it cost them over $1900. Today you can get a 32" 720p LED for $150-$250 at best buy. I remember when LED first hit the market the average price was over $1000, and now they are everywhere and for a wide range of prices. Its just the nature of technology. At first its exclusive and expensive and only the die hard tech people and rich people buy it. Then a few years later it becomes more affordable for the average consumer.

Oh I know they will. I've worked with and on TV's for 10 years. The difference between 4K and what came before it though is no one is rushing out to get it. I'd say another 3-4 years and 4K will be in many homes.
