How does one go about buying Destiny without knowing it's a MMO-esque shooter that's multiplayer built and focused? I didn't follow the news for it, nor did I have much interest, and I knew that.

Well theres never really been a shooter like this on console. I assume some people just assumed it was like any other console shooter. A single player campaign with an online multiplayer component. Whereas in reality its an MMO that has a limited single player option. Its not built for single player but they cant outright stop anyone from tying to play it that way. They can discourage a player from it but they cant say "No Single playing allowed."Thats the only reason why single playing is even an option.

Hey guys, I got my PS4 today (the Destiny bundle).

Best looking console I've ever seen. Really, liking it so far.

But I was wondering, does anyone else's controller get rather warm?

Not burning hot, but just warm.

Maybe today is just a clammy day (it is pretty ****ing hot), but... I think this may be unusual. No one online seems to have ever noted this. I never noticed this on my friend's PS4, but I never played it more than half an hour.

I need to use it some more. Hopefully false alarm.

oh, and my PS4 controller never got hot..........or at least it never got warm enough to make me notice it.

I am loving this thing so far. Starting up Destiny right now.

My controller hasnt gotten warm, but its not unusual for lithium batteries to warm up. Past three cell phone lithium batteries Ive had have gotten blistering hot on occassion. Just if you smell anything melting or burning get the controlledr outside onto concrete or rock or dirt quick. Lithium batteries are explosive in an unstable state. And as long as its off when youre not at the house theres no chance of fire. Just keep an eye on the controller when its on. If it gets to the point where its too hot to hold the thing could be about to pop.

Really I wouldnt worry. Unless you have horrid luck Im sure its fine.
There have been no reports of the controller causing a fire and I think we'd have heard something by now. Its just not a bad idea to keep an eye on it the next few times you use it.

New lithium batteries can also get warm during the first few uses. Idk why. I suppose its getting broken in or something, but Ive noticed that with lithiums. New ones seem to get warmer than the older ones. A warm heat isnt something to worry over.

Youll know if somethings wrong. It will just keep getting hotter and hotter and hotter until the plastic starts melting. Im talking hundreds of degrees and it doesnt sound like yours is getting anywhere near that hot so I really wouldnt worry about it.

for me, I just wish it had more functionality. and this week's X1 deal was just too good to pass up.

so, now I own both new gen consoles.

I remember when I got my PS4 last year, I came on here and said I was just sticking with one console this gen. The X1 was simply an unattractive option at that time. But, it's amazing how that changed over the course of a year.

the X1 steadily became an enticing option, while the PS4 just kind of stayed flat.

now, hopefully, I will have a positive experience actually playing and using my X1 ( knocks on wood ).

I might still get one in November. If I can get one for close to 300.

I got a Wii U for 240. Granted, I kind of regret it, but still a good deal.

I might pick up an Xbox One when a slim model is released in a couple years or if they get a new exclusive that I really want such as a kickass star wars game like Knights of the Old Republic or if the XBox One gets a media features that just too awesome to pass up. Never was much of a Halo fan tho Ive played them all. Microsofts exclusives just dont do much for me...well Tomb raider being the exception but Micro$oft and CD can shove that game up their ass.

I only got the X1 now because with the Best Buy deal and my gift cards, I was able to get everything for under $200. To me, THAT was a great deal and too good to pass up!!

and if I ever get a Wii U, it would have to be for Zelda. So, I'll wait for that to have a release date and maybe a Zelda Wii U bundle.

one of the other reasons I got rid of my older black Ps4 was because it was kinda glitchy, and freezed up more often than I liked, and one time it even straight up kicked me out of playing ISS. wtf??

and yesterday I was just navigating the UI and it was getting glitchy/freezy again -_- a BRAND NEW Ps4 and that **** still happens

btw raven x knight, I still got my copy of Destiny in the plastic, haven't sold it yet I'm kinda on the fence on it and I am kinda leaning towards letting it go

well you cant return it to the store. You'll probably notice a big Not For Resale on the back where the UPC should be. At least thats how bundles tend to be. You can trade it in as used, but in that case, you'll have to open it up out of the plastic anyway. If you are retrying to go the Ebay route, unopened tends to look more attractive, but generally for a game this new, I dont think it would matter much

so, I'm really thinking of trading in my PS3 while I can still get good money for it.

one thing I'm concerned about, though, is privacy and what's on my hdd.

if I do the full hdd reformat and restore the PS3 back to the default settings, that will completely erase my data, profile info, network settings, etc., and that data won't be recoverable by any future owner. Correct?

would I also need to "deactivate" my profiles from the system?

I think this meant something along the lines of a majority of PS4's UI relying on a decent network connection (if logged in) so I'd ask if you have a good internet connection or what kind you have. You did say your old PS4 had this issue too so it makes me curious as well.

I'm not saying I know this as fact by the way, but I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility if you have a network connection that drops a lot or anything like that.

I never said anything about returning it to the store brah. I sold all my stuff on ebay and I usually add some extra things with the main item so that I can sell it for more. It's worked well so far, I'm sure I can do it again with destiny.
