Not all games had multiplayer. But most games that had multiplayer had local multiplayer.

Now most games are multiplayer, but most of them are not local.

i don't think it was standard man some games had it and some didn't. it depended on the game. if you're saying before last gen you mean 2 generations ago, 2 of the biggest genres back then were gta and gow and most of the time gta was single player and so was gow

Obviously its genre specific. Id say practice mode is standard for a fighting game, but its not like one would expect that in an RPG. Likewise an exhibition mode is standard for Sports games, but definitely not for an Action title. Local MP WAS standard for MP games. Again for obvious reasons. Local MP wasn't standard in the PS2 GoW and GTA games bc those games had no MP! The minute that feature was added to the series, they both exclusively used it for online only

Exactly and that's the point. In the PS1 era and before ALL MP on the consoles was local. Online MP made its way to a few titles in the PS2 era but local by and large still dominated. It was only last gen that that completely flipped around with local becoming more rare and online only becoming prevalent, which is where we are at today. People have to ask if local MP is included bc most games no longer have it. People didn't have to ask this question in the PS2 era and before bc it was expected in any title which featured a MP component

okay, i didn't realize that is what you were trying to say but now I get it. you right man, but I still wouldn't say local MP is a complete rarity. it is still prevalent, but it is dwarfed by online multiplayer.

Haven't played my ps4 in 2 weeks or so. Need a good game to get me sucked in to it. Most likely that will be Shadows of Mordor or one of the new racing games when they hit.

Gamepur conducted a poll asking gamers which racing game they're gonna get between project cars, fh2, dc and I think something else, and dc won by 33%

sooo.....looks like Sony has an electronics event scheduled for 10/9.

maybe that will be the day they announce the rest of the features in 2.0 as well as an official release date ( perhaps the following Tuesday? ).

We still talkin future dates, without any of them being the release date for 2.0 -_-

The more people ask about 2.0, the less likely they are to talk about it. Just let it happen

LOL...I haven't played mine in 2 months

I haven't touched my PS4 much either lately, other than for checking a few settings here and there.

and that's one reason why I do want the extra media playback features, cuz I would certainly use it more.

as for games, though, the great Fall deluge starts tomorrow with Shadows of Mordor, so my PS4 will finally start seeing some serious action again.......lol.

indeed, it feels like the real gaming season, for me at least, starts this fall ad everything up until this point has just been filler.......

You just described almost every gaming season for the last decade or so. I mean, sure, you do get the occasional big title ever and there in the spring or summer, but gaming companies have been loading up fall since as long as I can remember.

Yep. This trend of releasing big games all throughout the year only really started a few years ago. Before that, it was basically as it has been this year for as far back as I can recall.

To help explain this specific drought though, a few weeks ago on the Bombcast Jeff Gerstmann was talking about it and how he heard what was up from some developers. The way they tell it is that, due to the rise of smartphone gaming as well as declining sales of console games across the board, there was massive paranoia within the industry as to whether people even wanted consoles anymore. So many of them were waiting to see how all this shook out and hedging their bets, and then when the PS4 came out and started selling like crazy, they were all like, "Oh ****! People still totally like consoles. We better put something out quick!" And that's why you've seen a lot of reissues of older games as well as why there haven't been a ton of "real" games released.

I think the real issue is that the PS4 just doesn't have many games yet period.

With the PS3 I never had a drought because I had 7 years of games to catch up on.

With the 360 there were more games than I could keep up with. Hell, there's still like a dozen titles I really want to play.

So, if you buy a PS4 a year from now, there may not be many games coming out part of the year, but you'll have some old ones to choose from.

It like that ever system though for about the first year or so and then around the year and a half mark more games start to come out. That is the bad part of getting a new system. I got a ps4 the day it came out and I have a few games but nothing like I have on ps3 and I got a wii u the day it came out and I think there are a good amont of games for it now but that wasn't the cause for like the 1st year on that system to.

That's one thing about Nintendo, backwards compatibility is pretty awesome.

I've probably spent more hours playing Gamecube games on my Wii than Wii games.

I wish they would put an emulator for PS2 games on the PS4.

is any one else completely over destiny? i have no interest in it anymore

I was never into the full game in the first place. But I got a friend who takes off from work just to play that game on xbone lol

It's expected that there won't be many games for a new system in its first year but you just need a few good games with a lot of replayability to make the wait easier. I could have played just Street Fighter II and Super Mario World (& Kart) for the SNES for years. ;)

not saying there haven't been good games released for the new consoles.

but the games that really interest me ( Shadows of Mordor, WWE 2K15, Dragon Age, etc. ) start coming out in the Fall, starting with Shadows today.

2k15 is pretty awesome too, letting you scan your face into you know. fifa 15 though to me looked as boring as last year's. i could never really tell the difference between any fifa's

ps4-wallpaper.jpg

this is the color the Ps4 should've launched.

it'd be awesome to see a Uc4 bundle with this type of Ps4.

I'd be interested to see whether that or black is overall more popular.

That one doesn't even exist man. I think it's photoshop

Well actually, the dragonquest ps4 is that color, but it's themed.
