The Official PS4 Thread - Part 8

No nevermind, this isn't a useless discussion.

Tbh, I was kinda surprised how Microsoft decided to have the more expensive console this time around, I mean, they were there when the Ps3 was announced as $600. How dd they think it'd be okay?!

Maybe from the getgo, they should've had the unbundled kinect for $400 along with the bundle, but back then, didn't they claim the xbone needed the kinect to function?

no, I believe they backtracked on the required Kinect before they launched.

so, they could very well have released a Kinectless SKU for $400 during the launch.

and that could have made a big difference last holiday season.

so, yeah, that was a big mistake, imo.

PlanetSide 2's PS4 beta is expected by the end of the year

The PlayStation 4 version of PlanetSide 2 is still on track for beta before the end of this year, SOE says.

SOE's Matt Higby told Eurogamer that the nearly-two-year-old MMOFPS sandbox has been slow to arrive on the PS4 because SOE didn't want it to feel like just another cruddy console port.
"As much as it sounds like we're blowing smoke, we're working hard to release a game that feels like a full-on console experience and not just like a port. So it's taken us quite a long time to re-jigger our user interface and our controls. There's a lot that needs to get done."
The PS4 edition will also sport a slightly different business model in that microtransactions will be purchased with Marketplace Cash (as in DC Universe Online) in place of Station Cash.

More details, Eurogamer reports, are expected in December at the PlayStation Experience event.

that's true they did but at first they did say it was mandatory

Sony has announced PlayStation Vue an online cable service that will launch on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and will later roll out onto non-Playstation devices like the iPad in the future. Sony is in active discussions with the Walt Disney Company, Time Warner, and AMC Networks as well.

everyone was giving microsoft crap for focusing on media with the xbone reveal, and now sony's doing it and everyone's okay with it?

idc about this vue stuff, but I'm all for it, because ever since the Ps2 has had DVD functionality, consoles have always had to be more than just gaming machines, but still gaming machines at their core. their essence.

It wasn't the media capabilities that people criticized Microsoft on, but how Microsoft initially exclusively focused on the Xbox One's media functionality. If Microsoft focused more on video games while showcasing their media features, people would not have gotten pissed off.

Right now I don't care about it since I don't pay for cable where I rent at but in the future it will be nice to have that option.

yeah that's what i meant but still that was stupid that people got pissed off about that. i think those features are a great part of the xbone n should've been embraced at e3 last year.

GameStop, Amazon discount PS3 and PS TV ahead of Black Friday

Black Friday may be two weeks away, but retailers are already dropping the price on two pieces of Sony hardware: PlayStation TV and PlayStation 3. Both systems will start at $80 and $200 respectively through Amazon and GameStop for the holiday season, though GameStop notes that the deals are temporary and are "first-come, first-served."

The PS TV's DualShock 3 bundle is also down to $100 at the two retailers, saving game streamers $40 off the bundle's regular price. Thrifty buyers can also opt for deals on PS3 bundles, such as the 12 GB PS3 with Disney Infinity ($200) or a 500 GB console with either The Last of Us or Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and The Sly Collection ($250 each). Sony isn't the only company offering early discounts this year; Microsoft cut the Xbox One's price by $50 for the holidays and already listed the Microsoft Store's Black Friday deals.

they better make some sort patch better controls, if they intend to still push this for the vita ad the ps 4 consoles to play those portable games on those tv's

The Gamestop at the mall I work at is right next to me and I'm always in there. They already have tape down for BF haha

I honestly might pick up a new 500 GB PS3 for 200.

I guess next black friday?

You can do that on a PS3. And watch blu rays, and media files, and buy games for it for a lot less.

really? wat about all that streaming?
Ok here's the deal and I made sure I put this up a few pages back you must have missed it here it is again I would use the words poor ma ps3 poor ma Nintendo game boy device idea to a console to play on your tv.. maybe. The Nintendo version which came prior to this worked though. Unlike this.

Cause of the Digimon cyber sleuth thread and what you said there about wantng it on a console and not the portable cause you wanted it on your tv .
The details are in the video's in this quote below. I had you in mind when I put this post up here in this specific thread. if it had worked you would have had what you wanted. if they ever brought it to out side of Japan
I didn't put this up on time. sorry about that. But this is about "ps Tv AKA vita TV" to other places beside North America. it will allow to play vita games on your tv. not the reverse so far so don't think you can play/ have your console experience on the go But it's not working as well as people hoped right now. other wise all those that want to play

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth would have been able to on their tv's. details are in the video below

Freedom Wars Review
Synopsis:They fought the good fight in freedom wars. the big game for vita owner to get their hands on with lots of style. but it's also pretty generic & scott doesn't like having to fiddle with the characters Eyebrows.

Scott 's Score 6.5 (Fair) & Victor's Score 7.5(good)

word okay. i know it was originally titled ps vita tv but after the vita was dubbed a failure i thought this was supposed to just stream ps3 and 4 games to another tv in your house

yeah same. i know i wanted a new gen console, but buying it now was a mistake. put a huge dent in my savings and it turned out to be a huge distraction, and once i realized that, it turned into a huge dust collector and therefore, a huge waste of money.

should've waited till next year.

I don't regret it necessarily, but I do wish I had done things a bit differently. My original plan was to buy a Wii U last November, spend 2014 playing Nintendo games and working on my backlog, and then buying a PS4 this November. I wish I had stuck to that.

I can't complain though, I've had plenty of games to play on PS4.

  • Battlefield
  • Black Flag
  • Resogun
  • Rayman
  • NBA 2K14
  • Ground Zeroes
  • Shadow of Mordor
  • Wolfenstein
  • Outlast
  • Dead Nation
  • Mercenary Kings
  • PixelJunk Shooter
  • Strider
  • Spelunky
  • Steamworld Dig

Plus, I'm still looking forward to playing these games this year:

  • Dragon Age
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • The Evil Within
  • The Crew
  • Alien Isolation (maybe)
  • Injustice (PS Plus)
  • Infamous (PS Plus)
I don't think anyone could argue that it hasn't been a weak first year for the PS4, but looking at that list I can't complain too much.

I regret buying an X1 at launch and am glad I didn't buy any other consoles as I suddenly got super-busy right at that time. I've played only a few hours of each of the games I've owned and am unlikely to be free like I was gaming 4/5 hours a day for a couple of years. Had I not been busy I wouldn't have regretted it even if only for the excellent media features. I don't think any game for either system has been a must buy though which is disappointing and at least 4 huge games have not delivered as expected. See what we get in 2015.
