The Official Red Robin discussion thread

I hope the next arc works as a setup for that BATMAN VS. ROBIN arc, it's the only reason I would think Damian would turn on Dick he'd be conflicted between loyalty to Dick and loyalty to the Al Ghul's. At least I hope so cause that would mean Tim would be involved and I like the way Morrison writes Tim, can't say the same about Yost.

maybe there's still hope for this snoozer of a book to actually get interesting

At least it has killer moth lol

I'm gonna wait and see for reviews. I mean i actually liked the 1st arc even tho it didn't have the best art out there, but the Spider Cult was just really bland and unnecessary.

Red Robin is my favorite thing DC puts out right now.

No, I only read DC actually, a little Marvel on the side like Daredevil, Spider-Man and X-Men, but DC dominates my reading.
I read, Batman & Robin, Batman, Red Robin, Detective Comics, Superman: Secret Origin, Blackest Night, Adventure Comics, Titans, Batgirl, Booster Gold, Flash if it's any good (which it hasn't been lately), and Wonder Woman or Teen Titans once in a while.

Not to jump into the same boat as our bullheaded friend Cain, I must agree, Red Robin's a pretty weak title. I mean, I love Tim - and that's why I read the book - but the editorial direction of it just seems a bit off, more than a bit aimless, and the writing itself seems quite halfhearted. You can almost tell Yost is just writing someone else's story. And that story is all about binding time until Bruce gets back.

Again, not to poo on your parade, though...I was going to make that post even before I read yours. :o

I see your point, I guess the main reason I enjoy the title is because of Tim, but some of the story elements are pretty awesome also, especially the destruction of the league of assassins headquarters.

Yeah, I do like the premise of Time and Ra's going head to head. And I even see some promise in Lucius ' daughter.

I also read the bold every month and will pick up the new Flash series once it debuts and I still can't see how RR is even a pimple on the ass of any of those let alone other books I read like Warlord, R.E.B.E.L.S., Power Girl, Supergirl, Secret Six, JSA and Jonah Hex. Keep in mind I also heart Tim Drake I just find this book extremely poorly executed and aimless overall I mean 2 arcs in and it feels like a whole lot of nothing has happened and I keep flushing 3 bucks down the toilet. I hope this new arc finally adds a little "punch".

Gotta say..That is looking pretty good. Most likely I'll pick it up.

Ras:
"Tim Wayne tried to destroy my organization. To extract my revenge i will kill everyone Bruce Wayne ever loved even if he is dead. Never mind that i basically loved the guy, that he is my grandson's father, and that he himself has destroyed my plans numerous times in the past and i never hit him under the belt because i respected him. No. Instead of killing the crazy brat, i will do something completely out of character."

Writer of Red Robin:
"Hey guys. I know we started RR as a James Bond type of adventure and we were looking for Bruce Wayne. But hey, what exactly is Tim gonna do with the crappy clues he's got? Bruce isnt here, he is in the past. So here's a lame and derailing plot with Ras to keep you entertained before Bruce gets back. Also, Tim fans you will be happy to see how much fanservice we provide to your character. I mean Ras calls him "detective", he doesnt think that his own assassins will be able to assassinate him, Tim managed to piss Ras off more than Bruce ever has, and he beat Dick in a fight. Dick was just trying to defend and talk it out but hey, you blind Tim fans will be happy and might forget how a 10 year old kicked his ass a few years ago. Tim is the best character ever you guys."

Awesome! Fabian Nicieza's run on Robin was great!

Well Cain, looks like your wish perhaps came true: Fabien Nicieza to write Red Robin! Starting in #13!

Maybe now the pacing will flow faster in Red Robin. =p How is the Ras' arc?

Words cannot express how ecstatic I am that Yost is finally off :woot: I haven't even picked up the new arc because of him but now I will give the book another chance cause I also enjoyed those last few ROBIN arcs by Nicieza.

I just love seeing Tim in action, that's why this book is fun for me. I've been reading it since it started and although it isn't perfect and the writing can be poor at times, I just really like the character. I also like to see Tim grown out of Robin. But whatever, who knows whats going to happen to this series when or if Bruce returns.

I don't think my comic store by my school carries Red RObin, no matter when I get there on wednesday it's never there, it's like WTF????? It's a strange store regardless

I love Tim Drake. I like that he is cerebral and his fighting isn't all fluid. I like his fight with the assassins and him calculating each moves. Kind of reminds me of the fight between DKR Batman and the Mutant. "This isn't a pit, this is an operating table [sic]"

That's how Tim's fight seem like to me, as it should since he is not a natural fighter.

I enjoyed the conclusion of that last arc in issue 12. I don't know if I just noticed it that time or if it really was the first time, but I got chills when Ra's called Tim "Detective." That really got me excited for what they have in store for Red Robin.

Yeah this was the first issue of this arc I bothered with and it was a good chance taken. Just when Yost is about to leave he finally WRITES Tim Drake and not some other character using Tim Drake as an avatar. Oh well onto Mr. Nicieza :yay:
