Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

Whoever create sarcasm should be canonized. Really.

But seriously, though...

Nothing quite compares to Rogue's 'Goddamn my mutation sucks' excuse... :wow:

But, really, isn't she suppose to grow up or something along the line??? What, were they shooting for some 'Jubes' long lost twin sister only they look nothing alike' thingy??? :D
I'd like to see how such a large testosterone
having male like you would deal w/ not being able
to ever lay a finger on anything or anyone for the rest of your life.

Rogue's done it for apparently years in the comics... But her routine never changes. It's always "Well, think about how Ah feel guys!"

You'd think she'd eventually mature to the point where she wouldn't ***** about it all the time.

That, and she has had the opportunity to try out a power inhibitor if it bothers her that much... But never has.

It's kind of a messed up power to have.
I dunno, I don't think it'd be that easy to fix it.

Everytime iamlegend speaks it reinforces how much of an idiot you are.

No one likes to hear Rogue go over again and again how she can't touched. Even ROGUE fans are tired of it. Everyone else gets some sort of control over their abilities, but not Rogue? That's bad story-writing, not a bad character. The writer is at fault, not the character. What you're doing is like blaming the victim because a criminal singled them out.

Why should she get over it? Her inability to touch is thrown in her face everyday. No one else would get over it, why should she have to? Did Cyclops ever get over not being able to see without a visor?
(Shut up, Darth, I wasn't talking to you).

The few times Rogue has been without power, she's still a GREAT character. Even in the ****fest of later issues of X-Treme when she has no power and the plot is like something made in a crack-lab, she's AWESOME.

I blame the writers for the parody that Rogue has become to most general readers. Without sexually assualting a female character they can't seem to get the idea of "character growth".

Aaaaahhh. :woot:

Come on, by 'getting over it' we're just hoping to not have to deal with tantrums oddly similar to, hum, bloodlust. Brooding's fair game. :cwink:

You *did* get that I'm with you on this once, right? :woot:

I wasn't yelling at you.

I was yelling AT OTHER STUPID PEOPLE.

Hi, Darth. How ya been? Good? That's good. How's CanCan? What do you mean why do I assume you'd know? Y'all are best buds, aren't you? Don't lie, you know you love him.

Anyways...

HEY...if Cykes is allowed to brood, Rogue is allowed to whine. It's a man-woman thing. If a woman broods, men assume it's "that time of the month". We have to whine so you know EXACTLY what's wrong with us.

Our point is that writing have made it into so very very much more than *just* whining. :cwink:

But to fair, it's not just her. Jean rapes people's mind and blows holes through walls. Storm pulls an "I am goddess hear me roar" with meteorological accenting said postur... I mean, speeches.

It's more of a *diva* thing than a Rogue-specific one, really.

Thus our whole argument on how these people utterly suck at writing women. We're actually being sensible and advocating to take the 'I am woman, hear me roar' thing a little less literally.

Not our fault Rogue's a casualty. :wow:

Still...stop pissing me off...and this should piss off CanCan...

22) [XM #100] What became of the flirtations and intimacy between Colossus and Rogue?

Mystery: While working on the High Evolutionary’s former space station, Rogue acted just as broody as ever and distanced herself from others. Colossus, however, already dismayed by Shadowcat’s new attitude, refused to leave Rogue alone. He turned to his metal form and kissed Rogue, showing that she couldn’t absorb him in this form. Shocked and apparently intrigued, Rogue then posed for a portrait that Colossus began to draw, but the X-Men were then attacked by some villains.

Thoughts: The X-Men found themselves chasing one fire after another after being attacked in space, with close to no down time in-between for Rogue and Colossus to develop anything that had occurred in space. Afterwards Rogue was reunited with Gambit and continued the troubled relationship troubles with him, and Colossus perished not much later. However, that incident in space made it quite clear that a connection was brewing. When asked about it, Chris Claremont revealed that the plan was to give Rogue two options – to love a man she could not touch, or to touch a man she did not love. However, the story was dropped because of negative feedback.

CanCan who maintains that SOMETHING happened...

Take the good with the bad??? :woot:

She's Rogue. She's an X-diva. Comes with the territory.

Didn't he somewhat back off?? Can't remember.

Still, odds are *something* would've happened. Marvel wussing out like that should be a hint of things to come, eh.

Still, for a while there he was COMPLETELY SURE that they'd gotten it on. This says otherwise. I got it from Uncannyxmen.com. I trust them on everything.

I take the good with the bad. More than most Rogue fans, I'll take the good with the bad. I get tired of people coming into this thread though and going on like she's the second coming of the Anti-Christ. We've learned to accept her faults, but we get tired of people trying to shove them into our faces too.

I know. More often than not, our rants just aren't directed at you in any way.

Haven't we actually somewhat moved on from that and redirected our criticism? See below.

Funny you should say that. Cause what we've been recently saying is that Carey's shoving so much drama in her face that voicing out her faults/poor decisions has become a hardcore a$$hole move.

Seriously, we're not rooting for Cyke to actually crucify her and push everyone into turning their back on her forever because of the Creed/villains aboard debacle.

Still, a pat on the back and a 'How about you take a nice actual vacation and don't take any decision for the past couple of weeks/months. Oh, and we're instating a no-villains rule, too.' talk/speech/lecture/whatever would be rather appropriate.

I think, honestly, Carey's leading up to a serious character assassination. He's a jerk like that.

...I get sensitive sometimes...

Apparently he's not into the whole 'sometimes less is more' thingy.

Strain 88, instant death by mere touch and 8 billions souls don't exactly scream 'subtle'. :wow:

Scott and Emma's mind-f**ks/ego-maulings in AXM now look insanely mundane, eh?

Indeed. LOL.

We need to use CAREY as an adjective.

"Dude...you're acting ****ing CAREY right now. Stop it. It's scaring me."

The second we have a better idea of what he's up to, I'm all for it.

*Visions of Carey having Cyke's powers bypassing ruby quartz out of the blue. And for him to lose an arm. Or something. And yes, just because.*

Eeeessh.

Queen's article: Actually, I'd say that proves something happened, but it was just ignored afterwards because of fan-reaction to it. :oldrazz:

Other: I don't hate Rogue in a "she's the anti-christ" way. It's more of a "shut up and go away!" kind of hate.

Everytime iamlegend speaks it reinforces how much of an idiot you are.

Ouch. I didn't know that having a differing opinion made me an "idiot" here.

I know the writers control how much Rogue progresses, and I know it's been nearly not at all over the years. But what am I going to do, blame every writer that's ever handled Rogue? No. I'm a Gambit fan. I know Gambit's been written like a sack of **** for years. Thus, I'm not going to attack fans that don't like the character, because the way he's been written it's normally pretty justified.

Why should she get over it? Her inability to touch is thrown in her face everyday. No one else would get over it, why should she have to? Did Cyclops ever get over not being able to see without a visor?
(Shut up, Darth, I wasn't talking to you).

Maybe because her character is, I don't know, an adult? Or because the character has had more than one opportunity to keep herself powerless? Largely my claim is made based on how many times it's been the "Well imagine how hard it must be for ME" show from Rogue.

I love Rogues character..........and I really like Carey too. Dunno....he just has some really good ideas.....

That's exactly the point, iamlegend. She has had the opportunity to be powerless and absolutely NO WRITER has let her keep it. That's on the writer, not the character because by all indications if Rogue got the chance to not have her powers for any amount of time, she'd take it. If the character and personality indicates one thing yet everything else HAPPENS to that character, is it the character's fault? No.

^Agree.....dont blame Rouge....blame the game.

^Agree.....dont blame Rouge....blame the game.

Under that rule then I wouldn't be allowed to not like any character. Ever. That makes no sense.

If I don't like how a character is written, I'm not going to like the character. Period. That's kind of how fiction has worked since the beginning of time.
