Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

Hungh. Server had to go screwy on me before I could edit that bloody redundant post. Oh well.

Oh, and yes, I *did* notice you going easier on Cyke ever since I pointed out a poorly written clusterf**k of a relationship didn't exactly do the character any good. :woot:

Was just pointing out how funny it was that we both were essentially saying the same thing - at about the same moment no less - to Havok83. :woot:

Only because Carey is making a determined effort not to. For the last 15 years it's been almost solid angst with bouts of it for the 10 years prior to that. And just you wait; the second Carey leaves, Rogue is going to revert back to an angst-fest and drag Gambit into it as well.
Im pretty sure she will but dang, cant I just enjoy this moment? lol

Oh, by all means, do so and have a blast.

It's just that, well, odds are Can and I will be laughing our a$$es off and saying "we f****n called it!!" when Rogue's foretold "difficult year" finally kicks in. :woot:

runs off and prays that Carey stays on X-men for the next 10 years

^I'm cool with that. Be nice to get any type of consistancy with the X titles.

Yeas, I'm tired of creators who only stay on for like 5 issues then bolt. 5 issues isn't a "run". That's a fill-in. A "run" means a creator stays on for at least 2 years IMO.

I certainly hope he stays on staff, but the length of a writer's run depends partially on the head editors. They don't always get a choice of how long they'll stay. When the time comes for Carey to leave, the writer after him must be certain to build upon the good progress he's made. I happen to love Rogue's angst as much as her joy, but she hasn't been whiny or angsty at all in the past year. The good progress has to continue.

Something funny to ask: before Rogue's real name was revealed, what did you guys think it was? I gave her the name Catherine Conway. I didn't know who Kitty Pryde was at the time, so I named Rogue Catherine. Inspired silliness.

I've got 10$ riding on Can saying something like "Skank".

And as for me, I always thought her first name would be Marie. Seems like the only French female name Americans bother to remember. :woot:

I nver thought about Rogue's name and never cared. She never needed to have it revealed. I still will always only consider her as Rogue.

Now, now, I never said *care*, did I??

Must've wondered like a whole 5 seconds at some point in time and then shrugged and happily moved on. :woot:

I always thought it was sad that she didn't have a real name. But then again, I'm the kind of person who thinks up favorite ice cream flavors and birthdays for my favorite characters.

And pretend marriages.:wow:

You know what I'm referring to. You being the former Mrs. Lebeau and all. :whatever:

she always had a real name; she just never revealed it. I liked that and it worked for her character

^I liked that aspect of Rogue also. If written correctly, she is one of the top five X characters.

Huh.

Somehow I get this feeling Canemacar will back me up on B.S. the whole "I am so angsty I can't say my name" thingy is. :woot:

Listen, Roguey, we KNOW your life sucked a whole lot. We totally get it. Stop reminding us. :woot:

And just for the record, the whole Nameless thingy is only cool for bona fide ninjas. Or character a la Bronson or Eastwood in old school action flicks. :woot:

Quited for Truth. Rogue is such a pity-hog.

Eastwood's The Man With No Name is the only one who can have no name and not come off as ridiculous because of it.

On not being able to touch each other...

Rogue: "Gambit, think about how hard it must be for me!"

I wish just once they'd of let him say: "****, can't be so bad. You ain't never touched anyone to begin with."

Thats not hating; thats the truth. She loves all the pity she gets because of her mutation and milks it for all it's worth.

You realize she is only like this based on the writer? (esp Milligan and Claremont). Rogue is not always like this and hasn't been once since Carey took over.
