Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

#188 would have been better if he had shown some kind of inner turmoil at the start that catalyzed her new attitude; people don't just go from wimp to "OMG uber-badazz!" without a reason. Maybe have her finally get tired off being passive about the world around her, feeling angry about some of the manipulations that had been going on, etc.

It's her time to shine, deal with it.
If it's that much of a thorn in your side, don't buy the comic.

He was critiquing Carey's pacing; get over it and stop flying off the handle every time someone says something thats less than "OMG It's perfect!!!" about Rogue.

Ah, so in a few issues Carey's is going to entirely re-write the character so she's "cooler."

Great. Wow. Superb writer there, to ignore comic history and completely revamp a character just because he has a crush on her.

Eh. Thus my numerous whole 'Carey is most certainly NOT God and loves his crew way too much' comments.

Like I said, stomach it, deal with it.
Inner turmoil? Did we forget to mention that "inner turmoil"
seems to be Rogue's middle name? How many memories, souls, etc
does she have in her head? You are out for her head and IMO
I can honestly see why you admire a man who wears pink, LOL.
I love the fact that she's your main focus.
It shows Carey is doing something right.
Now go crazy :woot:

You're excusing what is in reality bad writing, or at least pacing, and all you have to say about it is "deal with it"? I guess pointing out the absurdity of that is lost upon you, then?

General angstiness doesn't count in specific instances like this.

Geez, in the court of common sense, you'd be found incompetent to stand trial.

....Is there even a meaning in that besides some attepted jab?

My main focus? You wish. She's just something I'm using to exercise my argumentative nature.

The POINT is, there wasn't any in Supernovas, an entire arc's whole sole purpose was to shove down our throat the "OMG ROXOR ROCKS!!!" thingy.

OMG! Sexy attitude? Does this mean it's safe to assume
Carey plans on changing her costume?
I mean it's not like I have a problem with her new costume,
but I can't imagine her being sexy under all those clothes.
Also, do you mind maybe telling me where he said this?
I mean I read where he mentioned Rogue being
in a totally new place by issue # 207, but I didn't know
he planned on making her back the way she was w/ Carol's powers.
I wonder if she'll lose her Sunfire powers and gain some new ones,
or keep them in addition to the ones she has.
The suspense is killing me.

I don't know if he mentions a new costume, I definitely know the "power" thing is not going to be known until #207. He mentions the "sexy" Rogue comment in a podcast. Here is a link to the article:

Also, the new place he mentions at his website in one of his comments from readers. I am not really good at tracking things down. Here is a link to his form:

Mike is really nice about responding to fan questions. :)

RH, I really wouldn't respond to the HATERS. They are just trolling to get a rize. :D I mean you have to consider the source. ;)

Anyhoo, yeah she will be really great in Carey's X-Men as she already is. The Haters are mad cause it's not their fave in the spotlight and really no cares anyway. :D

In other words, she's your life support. Thanks.

Thank you sooo much BNS, I will drop him some words soon enough :woot:
BTW, thanks for helping me hold down my girl amongst all these
haters.:cwink:

Not really, we just don't respond too kindly to OOC and blatant favoritism.

Trust me, we've already made our share of "Joss has a ***** for Kitty" comments. But then again, at least Whedon didn't go as far (or the editors had the sense not to let him to) as make her team leader. :whatever:

I didn't even bother reading Astonishing past the first arc because of that, actually. It's like he expects everyone else to absolutely love Kitty, be nostalgic for the "good old days", and think her moments back then were like gold nuggets. And I'm sitting here thinking: "I don't give a **** about Kitty."

Check out AXM #18.

You'll probably get a good laugh out of her "The mean lady put naughty pictures in my mind, she must DIE!!!" routine and *every* other team member looking at her like "WTF is wrong you, girl?" :woot:

See, somehting like that what should've happened with the Creed/Nano-Sentinel thingy. :whatever:

and it won't stop until you are mature enough to let Rogue live
her character arc w/o using Gambit as an excuse to hate her.:oldrazz:

My hatred of Rogue has nothing to do with Gambit. I hate her because she's a self-absorbed psycho-b**** who milks her "tragedy" for all it's worth but makes no effort to either learn to control her powers or use a temporary measure to disable it. The fact that she always gets treated as an infallable saint by fanboy writers only adds to that. Gambit has nothing to do with it; I hate Rogue for who she is not who she's with.

I'm going to go read it just for that scene.

You might actually like it even it wasn't for the "Kitty is a brat with a temper" thingy.

Scott airs Emma's dirty laundry for all to see and doesn't coddle her in an attempt to save her. Good stuff and, *gasp*, there wasn't any cheesy "I luv u, plz come back" crap. :woot:

Well then, by all means HATE-AWAY! I am glad to know your comments are unbiased and presented with even judgement. ;)

You may find hating to be more exhausting than exhiliarating though. You are right to some point that the fans, the writers and Marvel in general like the Rogue character a great deal. She is a cash-cow, star and notable character. She is also... Dare I say it... a...HERO! So her stories are mostly going to involve her being heroic etc. That has got to kill you a little on the inside. :oldrazz:

Darth says he likes her, but hates Carey's fanboyism. Again, Carey is getting really strong reviews from the critics and Marvel editorial on his stint in X-Men, so that probably won't change. Nor will he ever admit that he is a hack-fanboy, I am sure. So it does sound like the two of you maybe complain just to hear yourselves complain?

Okay on to cool things. IGN has X-Men #200 in their C-Note for June!

http://comics.ign.com/articles/793/793786p1.html

X-Men #200 - Marvel - $3.99
Writer: Mike Carey | Artist: Chris Bachalo & Humberto Ramos
Gambit is back! Though we've never really been a fan of the "ragin' Cajun", we're thrilled to see this fan-favorite mutant return. Why? Because he's leading the Marauders to kill the X-Men! Brilliant! We love Mike Carey! Not only does this give Gambit a new angle, but we all know at some point he's going to get his ass kicked. Everybody's a winner!

Oh, and IGN placed Rogue at #21 on their Power Rankings!!! :D

http://comics.ign.com/articles/792/792001p1.html

There are some major changes on the way for Rogue, and last Wednesday's X-Men #199 seems to be the tip of the iceberg. Although she is the leader of the X-Men's "strike force" team, our favorite southern belle has been stricken with a deadly virus and has now absorbed the collective thoughts of thousands (if not millions) of people during a battle with a device known as a Hecatomb. As if Rogue's fortunes weren't bad enough, her former lover, Gambit, seems poised to destroy the X-Men in next month's X-Men #200. Rogue is definitely a character to keep an eye on.

Wait, are you saying that Scott was written in a way that put down Emma while making him look like a stud??? Cause that would be so.... you know what's coming dontcha.... MARTY-STU!!!!! :oldrazz:

Bwahahahahaa! In your face you lifeless fools, LOL
You are part of an endangered species of fans who will
lose their minds once Rogue is placed in the throne she deserves, LOL
So Can, what will you do now that you know Rogue is not going anywhere?
Oh and did you like the way IGN basically said Gambit is worthless to them?
Like I said buddy, deal with it because Rogue is back and here to stay.
Now smash that keyboard up a couple more times while issue # 207
works his way here :oldrazz:

Moreso that the Rogue-fans.

Not really. It just makes me shake my head at Marvel and the ungodly amount of bias and misrepresentation that goes into these stories.

More enlightening than infuriating.

No, but I did get a kick out of you saying Carey's a hack-fanboy but won't admit it.

IGN has always been a crap site. Especially as far as comics go. They put Sabertooth and Strong-Guy on their list of top 25 X-men. That tells you all you need to know about them.
