Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

*suspenseful music*

Her choices are a) run like hell (not really a Rogue mentality), b) charge like a bull and hope the Xavier paid up the insurance dues (more Rogue-like), or c) grab a nearby gun and distract the enemy long enough to get close...

Which choice is the most logical?

Rogue should definitely go with option #2. But first she should draw a bullseye on her forehead to um....distract the bad guy while she charges.:hehe:

*shakes head* I'd love to say something snarky here...

But truth is...that is most likely what writers would have her do (minus the bulls' eye on her forehead).

Why call me naive, when i think that superheroes should be superheroes? Superheroes are role models to kids of all ages, including small 5 or 6 year old. Superheroes shouldn't have to use guns to save the day. What if a kid saw their favorite superhero use a gun, do you honestly think that the kid would think a gun is bad after seeing his/her idol use a gun?

The Lone Ranger carried guns. He wasn't a superhero but a hero nonetheless.

But it's just fine to cut them open with various sharp weapons. Or smash their faces in with blunt weapons.

Look, all we're saying is that guns aren't the only synonym/symbol of violence. They're one of the many ways shown in comic books to put the hurt on someone.

Most comics are aimed at a higher age than you're thinking. Children's comics are a different subset and any parent who allows their child to read a regular Marvel comic needs a swift kick in the head. It's not just the violence that is adult in comics, but also language and sexuality.

The belief that a gun makes a "superhero" less of a hero is ridiculous. For one thing, not all "heroes" have superpowers. Some of them have only themselves and their skills (physical or mental) and need any edge they can get. To say that they should foolishy enter a fight in that sort of handicap when a gun could give them a (pardon the pun) fighting chance, is not naive or innocent...it's stupid.

No child, teen, or adult will want to read a comic where the hero gets beaten/shot/killed in every fight because his morals restrain him from carrying a firearm.

There's a reason the right to bear arms is in the constitution. If you don't want your "heroes" carrying weapons, go read Johnny DC.

ETA: Any and all characters from DC do not count in this matter, as DC has long proven themselves less "realistic" than Marvel as to death/injuries. Since we are in the Marvel section of the board, I'm restraining my opinion to this universe.

go tell that to Cable and Bishop

I don't think Cable and Bishop are great examples.

I see what your saying, and let me tell you I love violence, but I don't think that children should be shown violence until a certain age. I don't think they should be shown a hero blowing someone's brains out. I understand that comic books now a days are geared toward teens and up, but children still read these comics. I'm not saying that they should get rid of the violence, but just look at all the heroes that don't use guns but everyone of all ages just love to buy and read the comic with that hero in it.

That was the whole point of Havok83's... Bah, I'm walking away from that one.
exactly. Well until recently for Bishop, those 2 were clearly heroes. The lines werent blurred with them like the Punisher. Heroes with guns and in their near 20 years of existence, I dont think it was ever a problem. Another example, Forge

Wolverine said that if Hisako's nickname is "Armor", then his should be "Claws" and Rogue's should be "Suck"

:D

Not for long. I've already DLed AXM 25, and I'm backtracking my way through the issues.

That WAS funny. Especially how it works on several levels. (Of naughtiness.) Very 'Ellis' to get a remark like that in there while keeping it completely family friendly if you wanna see it that way.

Btw, I'm fine with Rogue being in Carey's care, but I do wonder what Ellis would've done with her if he'd had her over in AXM.
