Well, it was revealed last issue that Calculator tortured and killed Kid Eternity. But overall, I don't think children are dying quite as frequently anymore, no.

Ironically, Calculator killed Kid Eternity because Marvin got eaten. Apparently, Marvin and Wendy are Calculator's kids.

Sif has basically been background fodder, though. She had a one-shot where she helped Beta Ray Bill out with some stuff and apparently she sent the Valkyrie who's currently helping Kevin Masterson with the Thunderstrike mace, but that's about it.

Do you think that may have something to do with the fact that Natalie Portman's playing Jane Foster in the Thor film, which looks to be all about Thor & Jane with Sif pushed in the background?

In the Shadowland mini dealing with Misty Knight, Paladin, etc... how much focus was put on Misty's pregnancy? Did it lead into Heroes for Hire at all in that regard?

Very little if I recall. But, in the first issue of the I am an Avenger mini series, we learn that [blackout]her pregnancy was just a phantom pregnancy, and not real, and she and Iron Fist have broken up because of it.[/blackout] That was more of a lead up to the Heroes for Hire book.

Yeah, Iron Fist. A phantom pregnancy is basically a false pregnancy, where someone thinks they're pregnant but actually aren't.

A phantom pregnancy is when a woman's body displays signs of being pregnant, ie, morning sickness, breast tenderness, missing a period, etc, and the woman believing that she is indeed pregnant, though in actuality, she is not.

Misty's was believed to have been caused by some kind of effect from Iron Fist's powers.

Nope. It started over a year ago when JMS made a huge deal about Thor trying to find Sif to resurrect her along with the other Asgardians, then did absolutely nothing with her after he actually brought her back. I think it's simply that nobody at Marvel is particularly interested in Sif, unfortunately.

Right now he's the new King of Latveria. All Sith Apprentice looking now. Don't know what he was doing before that.
