The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 1

I dropped it after #2. But ironically Bendis has been treating Thor really well in it. I was tempted to deal with the terrible story just to see more of Thor owning s***, but I couldn't.
I hate when that happens. A good character finally gets treated well, but the story surrounding him is no good. :cmad:

Is it weird that, reading "The Incredible Hercules: Against the World", the voice I hear in my head when reading Herc's dialogue is the voice of Gary Chalk?

That's a pretty good voice for Hercules, I'd say. Not the one I hear, but a good one.

I don't think it's a specific actor's voice. If anything, it's a more exaggerated version of Stephen Colbert's voice as Phil Sebbin from Harvey Birdman. I imagine Herc having Phil's laugh for some reason.

I see. Well, I look at Herc and can't help imaginging a deep, gruff voice coming out of that mouth, and Gary Chalk seems the easiest match. Too bad if Herc ever shows up on Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes he'll be voiced by someone else.

What happened to Ghost Rider after shadowland? He got choked by Black-Daredevil and then never appeared again... or was that another Rider of no importance...?

I thought Rulk was a villain? Why is he an Avenger?
What ever happened to Nova and Darkhawk by the way?
What is Skaar up as well as Red She Hulk?

Wolverine I get, by why not Spider-Man?

I'm with Panthro on this. I think the Parker luck would just keep him out of it.

As worthy as he is to be on a team with the clout of the Avengers, he's always been a bit of a loner. Being on the Avengers takes the everyman status out of his character, which is largely a part of why he's so popular.

the only reason he ever joined the Avengers was because Bendis was in charge and wanted a character to use for cracking one-liners with (which anyway, he ended up doing with everybody else, too).

I'm fine with him being a reserve Avenger, but hell, they seem to pass that "honor" out like candy.

Even though they are actually two of my favorite characters (in general), I think it is long overdue that Wolverine and Spider-Man are removed from the active Avengers roster. I don't mind why they were originally added to the New Avengers, but it's time for them to go.

I like Spidey as an Avenger but Logan never ahd any business being with them. Even if he had to join, it should have been temporary, not someplace where he still is at over 5 years later. He's been on the lineup longer than some more notable Avengers. I dont feel he's ever really added anything

Rulk realized he was becoming more of a monster than the Hulk ever was and repented. He surrendered to Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner and is now basically working for them. Not sure how the Avenger thing came about, but Steve and Bruce are sending him on missions in his own comic.

Nova's technically dead, caught in the Fault with Star-Lord as it collapsed because they were trying to keep an enraged Thanos inside. Darkhawk is still presumably hunting down those few re-activated Raptors, but I haven't seen him much since the War of Kings stuff, really.

Skaar and Red She-Hulk are both hanging out with Bruce, Jen, Korg, and Rick. Bruce is trying to make them into a family, but Betty's resistant. Apparently she likes the power Red She-Hulk gives her and seems to despise Bruce now. Although, just recently, the Hulk got news that Sakaarians were being murdered in the Savage Land, so he and Skaar set off to investigate on their own.

Thanks Corp, sad about Nova. So did Bruce and Skaar ever have to huge fight that Skaar wanted?

Didn't the Avenger membership come about in order to keep an eye on Rulk? Not that it makes a ton of sense, but I seem to remember that explanation.

Actually he just kinda showed up on their doorstep after being beaten to a pulp by the Hood (with a couple Infinity Gems) and he's just been around for the few issues since. I don't think there was actually any mention of his joining the team officially.

Parker's kind of making me okay with Rulk on the Avengers. Rulk might actually be turning into a good character. I think I may even start picking up his series, including the back issues up to the beginning of Parker's run.

Guys... I'm scared.

First considering Incredible Hulks... now Rulk's book. Are you getting over the Loeb sucks era?

I do seem to be. The first Savage Land issue of Incredible Hulks was pretty good, too.

While I'm loving Hulks, I desperately need to cut stuff and cutting a twice a month book would help in that. I'm debating on dropping it after the Savage Land arc but I'm doubting it'll happen.

My problem is I need to drop maybe 8 comics a month... I can drop maybe 3 with no problems and that's becuse they're each ending. I actually LIKE everything else. It sucks :(

I seem to be adding comics left and right lately. Incredible Hulks, possibly Hulk, probably Teen Titans... it's crazy.

I was tempted for Teen Titans because of Damian but decided to not even tempt myself. The most recent additions for me are Amazing Spider-Man (which is like 2 new comics a month) and Justice League of America as of last issue, and then upcoming are probably Venom, Batwoman, and potentially Moon Knight. At last count I was collecting 25 ongoings plus 7 minis and however many oneshots that come out in a month tieing into whatever I read regularly.

I'm about to bring back my "help me drop comics" thread to try to aimlessly talk myself into dropping stuff like I did about a year ago. It worked, as I ended up dropping 6 comics through that, and talking about it on here helped me focus and put some burden to follow through. I dropped Hulk, Batman, Astonishing X-Men, and Red Robin... and then Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy ended.

Recently I've dropped Thunderbolts, Brightest Day (which is 2 comics a month), Green Arrow, and then Black Terror just ended, so that's lumped in there. That's 5 comics so far. I need another 4 or so if I had to guess to be mildly comfortable again. I'm also buying about 2 minis too many right now. I did drop New Mutants about 4 issues ago but I just learned that Abnett and Lanning are taking that book over once Age of X is finished so how I can I turn that away?

I'm trying to stay focused on Thor and Hercules when it comes to Marvel. I can't seem to get motivated to read Batman comics lately, and right now focusing more on Green Lantern at DC.

You're off the hook, then. Damian left at the end of the most recent issue and Tim rejoined. That's the main reason I'm even trying TT again.
