The Official Superman Score & Soundtrack Thread - Part 2

The thing is, I don't think Tyler Bates is scoring this. It could be that like Snyder's usual DP and editor bowed out of doing MOS, Bates could've followed suit. I'd think that if Snyder wanted to keep Bates, he would've been signed on and Bates would've started composing stuff for Snyder to temp-track in the editing room. (Bates' involvement would've been especially crucial, now with scenes being edited on set and turned over to CGI houses for preliminary work.)

The only people Snyder brought on was Michael Wilkinson (costume designer) and Alex McDowell (production designer). It seems likely that Snyder will want a new composer to give life to Superman, since he got a new DP and editor to match.

And as for people wanting Michael Giacchino to do this, it's entirely possible the schedules could conflict (since he's signed on to score the ST sequel for a May 2013 release) if MOS sticks to its original June 2013 date. That might be rendered moot if it's already in the can and scored by the end of this year, but still...

Daft Punk :awesome:

Also Clint Mansell

I would flip out if Daft Punk did it. I didn't like Tron: Legacy at all, but I will be eternally grateful for its existence because we got that Daft Punk score.

wow that was a pretty terrible song nevermind as a theme song for MOS.

Looks like someone is using the MOS name to try and get their song heard.

At first I thought about giving it a chance with a "hey it can't be that bad" attitude, but yes it is kind of bad.

And yes I too lol'd when someone tried to pass it off as the theme to MOS.

For some reason I was already lol when I opened this tread....I knew it was bull...unfortunately, I just laughed harder when I actually heard it lol

i want the theme to be orchestral. For example, listen starting at 3:09 below

I'm a musician and a nut for orcestral music, but that music would be very off for MOS imo. It's too traditional and up-beat march-like. Sounds like something for an animated movie about the american settlers.
It should have a more contemporary or timeless feel to it. Sound more like science fiction and adventure for a mature crowd and less like a family movie.

I completely agree.

Also, that was a pretty generic and unmemorable march, imo. If that was the music to MoS, people would just say they were trying (and failing) to copy Williams.

Alan silvestri.
His captain America score was brilliant!!!!

Too oldschool for MOS if they're really going for the edgier take.

I'm pretty sure we'll get something along the lines of the soundtrack for Green Lantern which sounded modern and intense, but like the movie undfortunately was a little underwhelming.

But I still see this route taken for MOS with a less dark approach though, but still maintaining the intensity and the spacy epicness.

My pick at the moment would be Don Davis who is most known for his work on The Matrix trilogy.

He would definitely be an interesting choice. I'd like to see him doing a comeback with a kickass score for MOS. A different kind of heroic score for the maturer audience. I'm not so sure he could tackle a heroic fanfare, but that's mainly because I havent heard it yet.

my choice would be a revamped version of John Williams theme

I think that James Horner would be a good choice.
