Call me crazy, but I don't think we need an "epic" or "sweeping" kind of score ala Shore, Williams, or Silvestri. That was almost exactly what so many people had issue with SR--the idea of it trying too hard to be what we'd already seen/heard.
FWIW, I love Daft Punk's work on Tron: Legacy. A track like this convinces me that the duo could easily craft a score relevant to a modern audience, while maintaining emotional gravitas.

While we certainly don't need a Newton-Howard/Zimmer re-hash with TMOS... one thing they definitely got right with BB and TDK (and, it appears, TDKR) is a "new" sound/style, not a regurgitation of something for the sake of taking the easy road.
