True, movie tie-ins seem more of a Marvel thing. When Dark Knight was release Batman was high, running around in a rainbow suit, and fighting space gods.
And Marvel was outselling DC. Maybe the DC higher-ups are starting to realize synergy ain't a bad idea.

I hope not.

Most of Marvel's attempts at "synergy" has been godawful.

You mean just for Superman and Batman or other characters? Because I haven't heard any plans for EO past the sequel to Superman EO.

Grant Morrison has talked about doing a Flash Earth One, or well basically he has an Barry Allen story on his mind and he has said you could do it on Earth One format, but you never know whats ultimately going to happen.

Well you have to remember the Earth One titles are suppose to be ongoing with at least two books released a year. I just think it would have worked better if instead of doing GN they released them in monthly format. I loved Superman: Earth One and hate that we have to wait so long to see the sequel.

The fact that we've literally had no real news of the imprint for the better part of the year outside a vague reference from Grant Morrison about a potential Flash and Wonder Woman story (both of which he referenced in past tense) makes me think that the reshuffling of DC's plans means that the EO imprint may not be continued a lot longer. I may be wrong, since the sales have obviously been strong, but it seems pretty odd how low any news has been on the continuation past the Superman sequel. Reminds me a lot of when All Star was silently getting the axe.

Question about issue 5 for those who have read it.

Was that the Legion of Superheroes at the end? They look... Meaner.

So far most of the excitement from reading action comics was getting more of a glimpse into superman's new and very much improved continuity. This was the first issue that I really loved, and it's finally beginning to form into the type of epic that makes morrison one of my favorite writers. I also really enjoy those revelations that clear up odd parts of earlier issues, like the goat thing. That was hilarious.

I think issue 5 might be the best version of Krypton's destruction I've ever read.

Action Comics keeps it's strong quality with each issue, i loved how Brainiac was the narrator of the story and the lines Morrison gave we're just so mythical and poetic, giving that cool myth folk-hero edge Morrison said he wanted on Superman again. Brainiac overall in this issue was freaking hilarious, especially his regards to us Humans. :( Seems like Morrison is mixing STAS Brainiac by having him mix up with the Collector, who might not be Brainiac yet? Mixing 2 origins and making it a brand new one or so.

Andy Kubert could stay on this title aslong as he wants, nothing againts Rags ofcourse but i just love the way Kubert draws faces. Jonathan Kent's smirk to the Army was awesome. The back up story was also wonderful, i mean perhaps abit forced with it's dialogue here and there but it was very up-lifting story at the end. :)

Can't wait for #6 with Golden Age Superman teaming up with Modern day Superman, Outrageous!

PS. Love this variant cover, so cool:

I know I am in the minority here. But of the two main 'New 52" Superman costumes, I prefer the t shirt and jeans Superman costume over the armored Costume.

I actually really dig the way Andy Kubert drew the new costume.

That said, Action #5 was awesome. I loved almost everything about. The Anti-Superman Army thing threw me off. That was really it. I don't really like how Morrison put a hold on one story arc just to introduce two more. That's something I took issue with on his run on Batman, too. It'll all come together, I know. But right now, it feels sloppy. We'll see where it goes. Otherwise, everything up to the Anti-Superman Army and the back-up story about Jonathan and Martha Kent trying to have a baby was just pitch perfect.

I hope the backups are somehow included in the collected edition

I liked the issue, but I kindof wish they'd move on from the "lesser gravity" thing already. It never made sense to me as an explanation for how Superman flies.

Did you honestly think a Morrison penned Superman book wouldn't have at least one super pet? :oldrazz:

The guy loves cats so maybe we'll see Streaky too and why not throw in the horse and monkey. Bring back all cape wearing animals!

If they could talk to each other and have their own adventures, I'd be all for it. As the absurd novelties they're usually treated as, though? Meh.

I actually like the t-shirt and jeans costume, with that costume he really seems like a normal person taking a stand

I thought Earth's lesser gravity wwas the explanation for Superman's base level strength which is still much higher than that of humans.

It has been at times. Superman's origin and the source of his powers get retconned so often that it's all sort of a jumble. Morrison just threw a bunch of the more recognizable elements together for his origin.

Yeah, he did it for All-Star too. I'm actually liking that this arc is sort of taking elements of All-Star and taking them into continuity with new twists.
