Action Comics number 6 was kind of insane. I liked quite a few of the ideas that were introduced [BLACKOUT]who the hell hids out in the their enemy's brain?[/BLACKOUT] but overall I think this particular series has lossed a lot of focus that it needs to regain. I had a lot of good stuff going on with the younger Supe's and I hope some more time will be spent with him.

It didn't lose focus, it took a break on purpose. At the end of #4 it says the story will continue in issue 7.

Yeah, but that doesn't make it any less odd in nature. It's like taking a break for a story that no one really wanted to see. I'm hear for Springsteen Superman and the story is about present-day Superman.

We couldn't have a story told from his point-of-view as a break for the artist? Let the back-up be the main feature for two issues and Springsteen be the back-up to give the artist time.

Nah, I prefer it this way. Rather than having artists commingle or the story have to be changed how its told to accomodate that, when alls said and done, we'll get two very complete stories, that just happened to be told nonsequentially. I can live with that.

And it also provided a brief glimpse as to how Morrison is writing modern Superman.

Did anyone else notice that this issue is Morrison's explanation for the Grounded storyline?

The Legion explains that the K-Men hid in Superman's brain. Superman says "That explains some of my recent behavior." What recent behavior? Why, everything Straczynski had him doing in his incomplete story. K-Men from the future with personality-altering powers hid in a hollow lead bullet altered by fourth-dimensional space and teleported their way into Superman's brain, causing him to aimlessly roam America and shirk his responsibilities for the sake a befuddling philosophical exercise.

Morrison believes everything is canon. The reboot probably hasn't changed that. This isn't just a "weird" glimpse at the present day Superman, it's also Morrison taking the general weirdness of the Grounded storyline and using the opportunity it created to both resolve that hanging thread and advance his own reinventions of Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

I took it to mean some of the stuff that was going on in Perez's Superman book.

What is going on in Perez's Superman?

Unseen strangers mentally influencing Superman's choices from afar. Which is really all the same story, when you think about it.

Eh, the first issue didn't grab me at all.

superman is just dull. giffen and jurgens will hopefully provide some relief while I wait for the type of A-list team that should be on this book.

Yeah, it honestly baffles me on why DC isn't treating Superman like an A-list book. This book feels more like DC needs to have a Superman book set in the present day while Grant Morrison does his 5 years in the past thing in Action Comics.

The Giffen/Jurgens team feels like utter fill in. I wish that they'll put Cornell on the book. It would give Cornell great exposure (the way Batman has for Scott Snyder) and he would perfectly compliment Morrison in the Superman books (the way Tomasi is doing in Batman & Robin along with Higgins in Nightwing and Simone in Batgirl for Snyder's Batman).

yeah cornell and morrison are buddies aren't they? they could probly arrange some kickass interplay between the books.

giffen's stated approach to this upcoming run is 'but who is superman, really?' and that just seems so unmorrison.

Unimpressed with Superman so far (I'm really trying to stay positive), the only bigger disappointment is Justice League. :csad:

I really don't find Justice League to be a disappointment. It's a blockbuster comic in the vein of Michael Bay's Transformer movies. And I expected that. To me the biggest disappointments of the New 52 are Superman (I had high hopes for Perez), Justice League Dark, Blue Beetle, Teen Titans, and Green Arrow.

What exactly is wrong with Superman?

I thought that the most recent issue really helped to move the story along. The way this is going reminds me a lot of "For Tomorrow" in a way, and it seems to me like they are introducing a new origin for Bizzaro. I could be wrong, but I thought this was virtually a new slate for Superman. It seems like an interesting way to re-introduce Bizzaro. I rather like the art so far as well.

For me personally; first the new costume absolutely sucks (Superman in body armor is stupid), second the new Peter Parker-ish Clark, third I don't like that he and Lois are no longer together. I'm trying to be open minded about this "younger, hipper" Superman, but I guess I'm just used to the Big Blue Iconic Boy Scout and that's what I like.

It is and it isn't for the most part everything that happened before with Superman still happened unless the writers say it didn't happen. At least that's what we're told. Which is why many feel they should have done a a clean full reboot instead of a half reboot. I like the new stories and the new suit and all but just feel DC should have done something similar to OYL where the first year could have been the origin of these new heroes and everything the big event of the summer should have been Johns and Lee JL series and then from there you do the jump into the future. But they should have fleshed things out more.

I dig Superman. Haven't read #5 yet but I don't have any major problems so far.

I don't see what the problem with armor is unless Superman actually has to rely on it for protection. Isn't it possible that he only wears it for it's own durability, so that it doesn't take damage when he flies into a burning building or fights a supervillain? Whether the suit gives him more strength or added invulnerability still hasn't been confirmed. But personally, I think they only wanted it to look more substantial and less like tights.

I'm gonna try Superman out when Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens take over. Giffen can usually be counted on for something fresh and interesting (see Annihilation and Blue Beetle, among other things), plus the cover appears to have Superman fighting the Wildcats' enemy, Lord Helspont. Being a big Wildcats fan, that alone is worth a look for me.

Well I already pre-ordered the first two issues so I hope it's good

Wow! Finally someone who I agree totally with!!

I've been screaming this since this nonsense started! Yes! Clark has been turned into Peter Frikkin' Parker and it hacks me off!

But nooooooo.......this is suppose to be hip , cool, ....No! He's just emo!! Some suckie , sulky dude with no life! Doesn't even wear a suit and tie anymore!! He's not a positive guy anymore!! I mean was there something wrong with him being a beacon of light to the others!??? Even the "S" on his cape is "BLACK" now! Geeez! :exp:

And the armor??? Why??? Heck ....they all look armored up! Even Flash! But Superman's old suit spoke volumes about his power! It said that his BODY is the armor!! He can wear this thin leotard and still fly into the heart of a sun.

This book is already stale. They better jump on this soon.

I'm with you brother.... I'm already waiting for the day when this is all revealed to be one of the alternate Earths and we get back to the real DCU. Are you looking toward this new 52 SHAZAM that's coming with some apprehension and dread as I am? The advance info on this does not give me a good feeling ( Curse of SHAZAM?!!!!)
...and I liked both Johns and Frank (their previous Superman stuff was good IMO).
