The Official Superman Thread - Part 3

I think Superman especially suffers more than the other heroes. I really dont mind Flash's or GL's or Batman's, but Supes just looks weird with this new armor. That George Perez cover for Superman #1, he looks like a robot, thats not a good look for Supes. I get the idea they're going for and i actually like that idea. The whole "ancient kryptonian armor that Kal-L must earn" angle is pretty cool. But again, the design is just...it needs work. Its not there yet.Like you said Corp, lose the seam...and the collar.

Ceremonial garb yes; armor no! Superman doesn't need armor. He's invulnerable! It just looks stupid. Maybe I'm too much of a purist but his costume needs no redesign. You want to come up with a clever explanation for it fine; but leave that iconic look alone. It's perfect (underwear on the outside and all)! Superman is one of those characters whose design is so perfect you don't mess with the core design, like Wonder Woman, Spider-man, Captain Marvel, and Captain America! Tweek it perhaps, completely change it?....Sacrilegious!:nono:

I don't know, WW might be better with less stars and a battle skirt.

The new movie costume is better than the new comics costume, except the gave him a ****ing tramp stamp in the place of the trunks.

I don't like the texture of the movie costume. It creeps me out.

See, even the movie's tramp stamp seams are okay to me because they seem to form a pattern that you can call some kind of Kryptonian design. The seams on the post-Flashpoint costume are just random seams thrown in arbitrarily. For fans of extra linework, I guess.

The preview for Superman #1 is...wordy. Very wordy. I'll stick with Action Comics.

Jimmy needs a different hair style, that Bieber look is going to get him punched in the face... a lot.:o

Hmmm...I don't know if I'll be picking that up.

That preview reads like it was written in the 80's.

Someone needs to tell Perez that people are tweeting, not twittering. :p

Superman preview looks pretty good to me. Reading isn't hard.

I'm not sure anyone here has a problem reading, lol. It just isn't that well written, imho. Also, I prefer when the text boxes are used to convey the characters thoughts, not describe what the artist could show.

I love how people on other boards think that Perez is penciling, and saying his style has changed....Jesus Merino seems to be doing a pretty good job on the art...the writing seems a little ...stuck in the 90s.

I thought we were past the whole 'text boxes describing the action' thing. I dont need a text box to tell me there's an explosion on the page.

Anybody know why Superman #1 doesn't have a Variant Cover Edition?

that superman 1 preview sums up why perez was the wrong choice to write a modern superman.

the Superman preview was pretty interesting.......

he does seem to be a bit different from his Action Comics counterpart.......

it will be interesting to see how the character develops between the 2 books.

oh, and Supergirl was awesome!!

i just wanna brag that over the weekend i held a copy of the original action comics #1, vol. 1, first print. it was CGC graded a 6. there are only five known copies in the world that are graded above a 4. i held one. in my hands.

it was awesome.
