It seems that DC will confirm the Johns/Romita Superman today.

EDIT: It's been confirmed, Johns and Romita Jr. will take over the Superman monthly title during the summer, making it the (de facto) flagship title of the Superman titles.

Cro Magnon heads all around!

Pretty rare and potentially historic to have John Romita Jr. on Superman after his long association with Marvel.

Love me some Rommy J art

Do not love me some Geoff Johns writing

Mixed feelings

Really hate that Klaus Janson is joining Romita Jr. Not too thrilled with Dean White's being on board as well, but I can deal with him, but Janson always ruins Romita Jr.'s art. I've always liked Romita's art when he's had other inkers like Scott Hanna, Al Williamson, Danny Miki, Bob Layton, and Tom Palmer.

Janson on the other hand, just turns it into ****. He needs to go back to the 80's where he belongs.

This is cool. Cool. Coming from a huge Spidey fan, JRJR is a one of a kind. Lemme get something straight though. He's doing the main title Superman book? Or a separate series

I've never been able to get really into Superman solo books for some reason. Like I make small runs, but it never works out for long periods. Maybe this will bring me around.

Looking forward to their Supes run. :)

People **** on Lobdell just because it's Lobdell and they see everybody else do it but I liked the Psycho Pirate/Lois Lane becomes a super psychic story. I guess now this thread will get more traffic though since a big name is on Superman. At least until Johns leaves anyway.

I **** on Lobdell because I hate his writing. *shrug*

Lobdell's run on Superman was adequate. It wasn't great or anything, but it isn't the flaming pile of dog **** that his Teen Titans run is.

I think the character interaction was good in Superman and great in Red Hood.

In what way? What's needed is a good writer.
Because Morrison put the Superman line into such a mess. The Superman line needs to be as organizationally cohesive as the Batman and Green Lantern lines and it isn't because when DC launched the Superman line in the New 52, DC treated Action Comics as the flagship title and yet, Morrison kept the other Superman writers completely out of the loop.

They tried to give the line some cohesion with Lobdell in charge, but his direction was just kinda dull. It wasn't bad or anything, but it wasn't very exciting.

Johns being on the book gives the line a big opportunity to bring about the cohesion that Lobdell brought, combine it with the excitement that Morrison brought, makes Superman the flagship title as opposed to Action Comics (which it should be like how Batman and Green Lantern are the flagship titles of their lines), and hopefully will bring sales up to a more respectable level to at least Green Lantern levels.

I dunno, I'm more interested in good stories and art than cohesive continuity. The New 52 is a mess all around anyway. Morrison had a lot of great stuff going on in his Superman, it was just bogged down by mediocre art. Or, art that didn't fit his writing anyway.

A Morrison/Romita Jr Superman would be really cool actually.
