Maybe I'm making my point the wrong way...It not that I want more event driven comics...I'm just saying that the writing in those events can be applied to everyday comics and make them fresh and interesting...

The exception being Superman...I'm sorry and I could be alone in this thinking but Superman is the most powerful being in the DCU...his titles should all be events...he should be taking on the worst threats in the DCU on a regular basis...he shouldn't be walking around and doing nothing...he's gotten stale because writers don't know how to use him AT ALL...the Brainiac, legion and last son arcs were great but all that progress was cancelled out by the horrific New Krypton arc...

No one really takes Superman serious anymore...he's boring and stale and nothing really happens there now...for 50 years Superman courted Lois so they married them but now what...they crippled the romantic tensions there that their relationship is passe now...

There are way you can totally revamp the Superman universe without needing to retcon everything and take it in an interesting direction...
I think the whole New Krypton arc got messed up after Johns left the book because that was his brainchild right there. The whole New Krypton thing was suppose to effect the DCU as a whole instead of just Superman as well as the world of New Krypton I think was suppose play out a little differently but I think that all got messed up when Johns left the book at last minute. For example Nightwing and Flamebird was suppose to be Conner and Cassie. IMO Johns is the Singer of Superman books where he starts something that looks like it could be huge but leaves and has everyone else clean up the mess.

Really? I would've totally read that if Nightwing and Flamebird were Conner and Cassie...

Yes but what put an end to that plan were the delays with Legion of 3 Worlds during all the delays with Final Crisis.:cmad::cmad: Another reason what that event was a failure in my eyes.

I dug Nightwing being an adult Chris Kent

Thought that it sucked that all that was undone and we went back to the status quo afterward :csad:

Yeah, no, that's not true at all and I have no idea where you got this info. Johns had intended Nightwing and Flamebird to be Chris and Thara from the getgo. Rucka didn't change any of Johns' original plans because Johns didn't really have that much set down about those characters in the first place. Rucka has mentioned that Johns simply handed him these characters and said "Here, make it work."

Yeah, I liked what Rucka did with Chris, Thara, and Kryptonian mythology.

Jay and Silent Bob could've been Nightwing and Flamebird, and Rucka still would've rocked the **** out of that book.

YEah I don't think anyone's saying Rucka's not basically a guy you can say "here's a huge pile of random ****, make it work" and have him, you know, do it.

Anyone read the last issue of Superman? The Perry White issue.

I have to say, best issue of Superman in a very long time. I know it was a complete fill-in and throw away story but I thought highlighting the Daily Planet staff and focusing on Perry really worked for me.

G. Willow Wilson has been doing a good job with the Grounded interludes IMO.

Haha probably it is

True 'dat

He is one of the best writers

i liked the chris/thara action comics arcs, i also loved the mon el arcs robinson did.

kinda sad to see him go to the future (and those books hes in now pretty much suck) :(

Nope, she's real. She wrote Air for Vertigo as well.

Ohh Air wasn't a bad comic at all. Nice.

Yep I dug Robinson writing Mon El in Superman too

Yeah I liked Robinson's work with Mon-El. This issue where he decided he wanted to actually live a life and die young rather than stuck in the phantom zone indefinitely again was great.

My main gripe with New Krypton is that it made the entire, what 2 or 3 year period of New Krypton and the lead up completely pointless. People are going to go back and read stories from this time, (such as Zor-El's appearance in Blackest Night) and have no idea what the deal is with any of the kryptonians because there were zero, ZERO ramifications from the entire 3 years worth of stories. Pointless.

What did happen to the Kryptonians...?

I enjoyed war of the supermen very much, even the ending

What did happen to the Kryptonians...?

Lex and General Ross killed most of them, and Lex got away with it 100%, even taking over Action Comics main feature.

Just the latest in DC's continuing castration of Superman really.
