*Closes book*

Can someone please give Nick Spencer a Jimmy Olson series?

Yeah, that was a big surprise. I had high hopes for Cornell on Action, Action, Action, but Spencer gave a fun little series with the back-up.

I love Nick Spencer. Has anyone read his mini, Forgetless? I wanted to check out his new book, Morning Glories, but have yet to do so.

I felt the Lex story went downhill with Lady Death, but this issue with Secret Six kicking in was just top notch. Witty dialogue and Lois Lane robot awesomeness is sweet, especially the possible tweeeest that Mr. Mind implied! Kinda sucks tho that we gotta get Secret Six issue to get the conclusion to this little cross over, please atleast tell me it's written by Cornell?

No the Secret Six issue is written by Simone. I cannot wait to buy it Secret Six is :awesome: sauce on toast one of the best comic books ever. Think it is fab that it is crossing over with Action Comics

And I thought the issue guest starring Death was one of the best issues of Cornell's Action Comics

Honestly i will not saying anything bad if Superman just ups and decides to go back to metropolis. Serious Supergirl, Jimmy Olsen, and Lex Luthor comics should not be better then Superman for over a year.

Well, looks like Superman is coming to Cornell with AC 900. I have high hopes for that myself.

Great news.

Superman won't be a condescending jerk anymore.

Yep I think that will be fun on a bun  cannot wait to see how Cornell is going to write Superman

I'm really hoping that they change that. I've really been liking that DC has turned Action Comics into a Superman-centric anthology comic that stars characters like Nightwing & Flamebird, Lex Luthor, and Jimmy Olsen. I'd honestly be a little disappointed if Superman just came back and took over the book.

I think it would be better for both Superman and Action Comics is to have Cornell write both of them with Superman obviously starring in Superman and Action Comics being a full on Superman-centric anthology title starring the various Superman cast members of Metropolis. It would be a great way to give exposure to various characters such as Steel, Lois Lane, more Jimmy Olsen, the Metropolis Police Department, Power Girl (if her book gets canceled), etc.

That's basically the Batman setup when Morrison was writing Batman and Dini was writing Detective.

Actually, I'd be interested to see how Dini does on a Superman comic...

If it was as fab as the Superman animated series I would read it. I loved that show

Was that mostly Dini or Timm? I always got the impression that Superman was more Timm and Batman was more Dini, but I could just be making that up.

I was always under that impression as well. Especially since you have Dini continuing to work on Batman while you have Bruce Timm saying that if he had the option to work on another Batman series or another Superman series, he'd go with Superman.

DCU in 2011: What does Doomsday want?

2vx0u4k.jpg

Doomsday’s back - and while we agree that that’s not a good sign for the heroes of the DCU, we can still ask: why did Doomsday return?
Well, I asked, and I got a hint back in return. Here’s a few words from DC Executive Editor Eddie Berganza about Reign of Doomsday:
“Doomsday is back - and he’s hunting down each of the four characters that rose from his first strike on Earth: Steel, Superboy, The Eradicator and Cyborg Superman. Something about those four has drawn him back… And nothing is getting in his way, not even the JLA. That’s all I’ll say for now!”
And here’s another news nugget. This story is so big that we can now announce that the SUPERMAN/BATMAN Annual 5 is part five of what appears to be a visceral tale of collateral damage and revenge.
As for Part 6, hmmm… We’re not saying. Yet.
Part 1: STEEL #1
Part 2: OUTSIDERS #37
Part 3: JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #55
Part 4: SUPERMAN/BATMAN ANNUAL #5
Part 5: SUPERBOY #6
Part 6: ???

DCU in 2011: Superman’s walk… takes him to space?

Superman’s walk across the United States is taking him to a lot of interesting places. However, this isn’t a landmark I recognize from any of my American history classes…
Keep reading, Superman fans.

DCU in 2011: Chris Roberson on Superman’s trip through the American Heartland

11uaszb.jpg

Superman’s walk across the country is a long one, but he won’t be alone; writer Chris Roberson will have several of the DCU’s biggest heroes join him at different points of his journey.
Take it away, Chris:
“On an unconscious level, Superman’s return to the American Heartland in an attempt to reconnect with the values that he has begun to question, and to revisit the kinds of places where he had his earliest formative experiences
As 2011 unfolds, we’ll see Superman get to the real heart of this journey, both geographically and emotionally, as he encounters allies and enemies that remind him of key moments in his past. An encounter with the Flash in Colorado serves to remind Superman of the time he and teenaged Lex Luthor shared a detention hall. A meeting with Batman in the Utah desert calls to mind the time Clark Kent and a young Bruce Wayne defended a village in Bhutran from Vandal Savage, who was searching for the road to Nanda Parbat. And of course, those are only two of the eight stories we’ll be telling.”

David Finch’s cover to ACTION COMICS #900

2j5xmdt.jpg

Action Comics hits a big milestone issue this year, and it only seems appropriate it gets a top-notch cover from a top-notch artist.
Without further ado, David Finch’s cover to ACTION COMICS #900:

Superman versus (I’ll argue) his greatest villain. How much more apropos can you get for a landmark cover to Action Comics?
But wait - there’s more! In addition to a 50-page lead story by the team that’s been punching this book out of the park for for the last ten issues, Paul Cornell and Pete Woods, the oversized 900th issue will also feature short stories by some very exciting names to be announced soon.
Excited? Stay tuned to the Source for more news about Action Comics #900.

It seems like they're trying to fight really, really hard against the conception that Grounded is quiet boring walking stuff (which it is). Remember when the marketing was all, like, "Superman visits your hometown! Look at how relatable and down-to-earth he is, this good ol' boy walking along America!"

And now? It's all "Crossovers with other superheroes! Fighting a caveman with Batman! A BILLION SUPERMANS IN SPAAAAAACE!!"

If they want to fight the impression it wasn't exciting by throwing out the boring lecturing **** and replacing it with a bunch of **** that actually looks cool then I can't really blame them I guess.

I suppose Grounded was pretty effective as a means of making everyone forget as quickly as possible how ****ing stupid War with Krypton was.

It actually looks okay but I cannot bring myself to buy Grounded again

It is only going to break my heart again :csad:

Cannot wait to see the showdown between Lex and Superman written by Cornell in Action Comics #900
