The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Official TASM2 Costume Thread!! - Part 1

Why would the other way make less sense? It eventually becomes second nature to him like breathing, and he can turn his clinging effect off and on at will. More believable than microscopic hair being able to carry his whole body weight, or not getting torn out, when someone forcefully tries to rip him off a wall.

Then why did he need saving at the end of ASM by a reverting Conors?

Cause it's more spider-like.

:/

I know right? If that's the case it must take hours for Peter to get dressed, and simply peeing must be an extremelly painful experince. And what about grabbing toilet paper? Lol have little bits of it stuck at the ends of his fingers.

In the comics I do believe, his body parts have stuck together. I think his hand has been stuck on his back.

You see, that's why I always liked the microscopic hairs idea, because it makes more sense for him to be able to control it that way.

It's certainly more 'scientifically accurate' for the people calling for practicality and realism.

There have been a lot of continuity failures in the comics then with that lol grabbing MJ when he kisses her, things like that

I just don't understand how being part spider enhances static cling.

genetically modified spiders.. I find it more believable that they would be able to sense vibrations through the air than having enhanced static cling.

or maybe the spider-gods did it. I have no idea.

Static cling is the explanation in the comics too. The little hairs on his swingers never made sense to begin with. How the heck does he cling to walls when wearing shoes? On top of that, all you would have to do is rip those little hairs off his fingers and his wall crawling abilities are gone either permanently or until those little hairs grow back. It's really stupid and I'm glad Webb went with the static cling from the comics instead of that.

I don't think Webb went with either option, he just never explained it, thus left it up to the viewer.

Here's where I stand on the suit...

I'm honestly indifferent. I don't really know what to think of it. My opinion keeps fluctuating. In certain photos I'm like, yes that's awesome! And then others I'm like... "Wow, I'm getting a strong Halloween costume vibe from it". I'm talking more from a production standpoint.

I feel this suit looks like something one of the many talented Hypsters could make at home. That's not necessarily a bad thing mind you, it's just different I suppose. Like with the first Amazing Spider-Man costume, that one seems pretty impossible for fans to get perfect. I've seen many attempts and no one has really come close to replicating it.

As many stated before, the texture I think is what made the original suit. That and I was actually fond of the design. It was different and to me a welcomed addition. People complaining saying "That's not Spider-Man" shouldn't really have been up in arms. His costume has seen many iterations. I thought the costume designer achieved beautifully what she set out to accomplish. She wanted to make something modern and that's exactly what I got from that suit.

They honestly didn't need to make all these changes. They could have kept the original suit design and made the small modifications...

I.E.

The leg stripe, the lenses, etc.

I'll reserve judgement until I see this suit in a promotional/official still. The ASM suit didn't look great from spy photos but looked phenomenal on screen. I'm hoping here the same thing will apply.

I personally think that Spidey doesn't really use the hairs/static cling with his feet anyway. I feel like his 'stick' is mostly from his hands and he just uses his feet to actually climb.

But he can stand horizontally on a vertical wall.

He's obviously sticky all over his body and can turn it on and off at will.

Who's to say with the sneakers he isn't just using his knees when he's crawling ?

In any case, saying the sneakers had to go because "How do his feet cling ?" I don't buy that.

No the sneakers went because they were ****ing ugly.

It's so right they changed it. I love it! I love how they changed that ugly costume to an amazing costume. I love how some thought that ASM was so infallible that they are changing aspects of it hahahahaha. A bitter pill.

true in a sense that people thought they were ugly , is just what the GA wanted, i was indifferent about them so...yeah

I love how some 'know' what the GA thought of the costume. Show me proof that the majority hated the costume and I'll hold up my hands. Wont make me I'll join in and dislike it.

Anyway, whilst I love the TASM costume, in the end, I just want a damn good film.

The GA thought it was ugly and complained like I did. We/I won!

truly , i didn´t even noticed them , i take it like the first suit Peter made was for practical purpose , then Peter saw his suit and thought it needed improvement so he made his new suit

Love the new suit (except the new symbol) and i liked the original suit i liked that it looked like it wasn´t that perfect , some places looked loose or well adapted like the lenses but the new suit
btw, if you look the lenses for the new suit looks like the original but painted white and maybe made them bigger to look better and maybe the shoes soles can´t let him stick to a wall as maybe another type of sole , who knows?

It looked perfect in an not so perfect way. Like the little flaws just added to it's look. I loved it :).

The boots on both this and the Raimi costume just don't look good IMO. If Webb and co had coloured the silver trim red, I don't think fans would be complaining as much (IMO of course).

This one, so far, does not impress me. Not even the lenses (too big. The Raimi/Webb lenses where better IMO, just in terms of size). BUT, I need to see some proper promo stills of the full body to give a fair opinion.
