The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Official TASM2 Costume Thread!! - Part 1

I like this new suit much better than Raimi's version. The problem with Raimi's version was the webbing meshes look too darn thick and shiny. The webbing on this isn't standing out like a sore thumb and let see how it look on screen.

i love the new suit. i never was a fan of the reboots. it just seemed like change for the sake of it.

even if another film used it. if it isnt broke dont fix it.
Well, here's the thing. They already established their own take/version of the suit in TASM, so going with this design/materials/look seems too left field.

For those of us who are a little disapointed, I don't know anyone who is saying it looks bad. A few are thinking the eyes may be too big.

Our complaint is that this change seems forced. If it's change for the sake of change, it needs to be explained. I brought up the Dark Knight as a good example. In the beginning of the film, he's wearing the Batman Begins costume, and then asks Fox for a new suit, then we see the change.

I personally would rather have seen them develop the ASM suit instead of go backward.

Honestly though, why does there need to be an explanation for the change?

To use your example of TDK, even without the explanation for him changing his suit, you can see that the TDK batsuit is an evolution of the BB batsuit. There are still a lot of similarities between the two than the progression can be seen. Here, it's like they gave up. Mind you, I like this costume a lot.

I'm actually not a big fan of the eyes. They're too big. And the boots look clunky and too short. That was one of my biggest issues with the Raimi costume (and most of the comics too). TASM had it spot on. They didn't look clunky.

And yeah, it seems forced. You are right, the costume itself is not really the issue (though I do prefer TASM's).

Hopefully we'll get an in-film reason for the switch. I did like that about TDK :)

I still think this looks completely awesome. Only tweaks were necessary to make it look like the classic suit (added waist line and full gloves), but still be unique.

IMO, the only thing they needed to do was let the 'belt' come right round, remove the silver trimming on the boots (cover it red) and maybe remove or at least alter the leg strips.

I don't see the need nor care for an explanation. The way I see it, this is Webb and co's chance to make their true to comic on screen version of Spider-man without the constraints of re-doing the origin and trying to differentiate itself from Raimi's films just so it has a reason to exist. They've got a completely new story with new villains and plot lines to continue from the first, so I think they're just going to run with it full speed.

I personally would love to see something in film. If not, fine.

I think the suit will look a lot more blue when we get another official picture.

Love the little circle between the eyes.

i don´t know anything about cosplay but

i think this looks easier to make than TASM suit (except the lenses) and the raised webbing looks more like puff paint than plastic mesh

The thing I like about this suit is that is looks like it was made to jump around and to acrobatics in. It looks sporty and aerodynamic. The lines flow with the natural contours of the body. It definitely differentiates itself enough from the Raimi films to know that this isn't in the same continuity but it's undeniably a Spider-Man suit. TASM's suit also looked kinda shiny which gave it an almost animal/bug-like quaility that I very much loved!

With the new suit, they've done away with all that progress they made. It looks like a COSTUME, instead of a SUIT. That shine is gone, instead replaced with the soft, satin look that Raimi's suits had. The belt, the gloves, and the boots all pretty much run straight across the body only BARELY conforming to the shape of the human body. It's elementary and uninspired. Sure, it's "classic" to be sure but I find that if it's TOO classic then it's boring. I wouldn't want to see a live action Batman done in the way he was portrayed in Sandy Collora's fanfilm where he fights the predators. He had a very classic costume but I found it boring and impractical. That same logic applies to all comic films....including this one.

I've been trying to keep an open mind and giving this suit the benefit of a doubt...and NO, we haven't seen any official footage of it yet. BUT.....from a PURELY design standpoint, I'm extremely disappointed.

I'm starting to like that they omitted the honey comb texture from this suit. It probably would've made the suit too busy with the slightly more raised webbing. It's nice that they kept the blue/black texture though to maintain some added texture. Honestly though, the costume looks like a cheap cosplay from blurry set picks but when it's in focus and well lit, you can really see the textures and colors pop.

Couldn't have said it better.

Maybe it's also a show of Peter's preference. What if Peter wanted a costume he liked instead of a suit?(In context opinion, of course) If I were him, I wouldn't just want a suit, I would want something I could like to wear. Batman was all about function and not fashion.

What a beauty this costume is in every way. No more nonsensical lines and omissions or cheap looking asic shoes. :hrt:

he seems to have the soles of the shoes but inside the suit from
this , idk the shinning part of the boot seems like it has a sole

Hmmm...I know its probably been beaten to death, but I just saw all the photos after being away for a few days, but I'm not thrilled. I mean, sure it looks great and is classic Spidey, but at the same time everything I loved about the suit from ASM went out the window. It really seems like the Raimi suit with the new eyes tacked on. The textures are gone, the vivid colors are muted, and the design is so toned down....I just find it boring now. They differentiated themselves, and now its too close to the old SM suits, it just seems lazy and uninspired now. Oh well, guess we'll have to wait to see it edited for motion.

It's funny, but weren't we essentially saying a couple of days ago "it would be nice if they got rid of all that crap"? lol
