Got back from watching the film, possibly the best Marvel film yet. The story flows well even with SHIELD included. Strangely enough Thor reminds me of Star Trek, in terms of getting to the point of the story, and all the characters being useful/important without excess stuff. Iron Man 2 didn't know where to go and just acted as an extended Avengers trailer.
Really nice, big and meaningful fight scenes, you won't be disappointed, Juha.
Thor is perhaps the most powerful superhero ever to hit the screens, and Branagh has shown his amazing power in great style. No complaints about it at all.
Loki is deadly, using his words, power, or weaponry in a fight. The scope of the battles is also mind blowing, and Mjolnir is not just a hammer, it is an emblem of Thor's development as a character.
Everything is well-crafted. You'll certainly like it.
As I said, minor complaints: first part feels rushed (even the lopsided angles, as Wolvie just mentioned, are a bit overdone) and some scene transitions are too choppy; some characters should've gotten a bit more to do onscreen.
But nothing that would compromise the movie. It's compelling, beautiful and even moving. Thumbs up for Marvel.
We could make a poll thread (no discussion) that stays stickied and then just keep the discussion to this thread. That way thread manager will never destroy the poll

Chris Hemsworth does a fantastic job as Thor, as well as the other cast. (I especially liked Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston's performances). Alot of great scenes. Without saying too much, I loved how he gets his hammer back. I watched it in 3D which seemed to make the fight scenes (especially in the darker lit scenes) alittle hard to tell what was going on.
My only minor gripes is Thor should've worn his helmet alot more than he did and sometimes the Asgard sets at times, looked well...alittle too much like sets. They should've made them look alittle more "lived in".
But overall a great comic book/fantasy movie. I really hope it does well. It deserves it.

just got back from the 3d showing. Wow oh wow, what a great movie. I only wish the film was longer as it sped by. I will say that Thor is as strong as in the books. Can't wait to see it again. IMO this is one of the best cbm to date if not the best.
Albeit in 2D at the local cinema and have to say good effort. Although, a little camp in places. Especially with the outfits. But hey ho I still liked it.
Not being a Thor fan boy I dont really know alot of the characters etc Loki and Thor so it was very new to me and I have to say the only people thated seemed to annoy me were his merry men or whatever they were called. Reminded me of something from Lord of the Rings but with a comic twist.

Yes, I think the first part especially would be fabulous in 3D IMAX. There isn't an IMAX screen near me unfortunately, but VMAX was fine. Still glad I did the 2D as well though and if 3D stretches the budget too much I don't think anybody will really miss out if they only see it in 2D.
Plus I hate the glasses. I could only get a seat near the aisle and I had reflections from the aisle lights in the glasses for the whole movie.

Wow, really? I was a bit worried because their's been very few post on here that commented on Thor's power level in the film.
I don't know how well the movie related to the comics, but there were definitely a few seriously impressive WHOA! moments when you saw what Thor was capable of. I imagine they'll be saving extra godly tricks for the Avengers and Thor II.
Can I ask a question here about the movie if it's in spoiler tags? It's not a huge plot point or anything but after three viewings I'm undecided about one of the scenes: -
When Thor goes to retrieve his hammer, he puts his coat over Jane because he knows there's a storm coming. My question is this: - Does Thor simply sense that there's a storm brewing or is it a storm that he's managed to conjur up? To me it seems like he's engineered it, but he's not really supposed to be able to do that in his mortal form.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Crater scene, I've read the script and seen SOME of the footage in trailers. I personally think he can sense the storms but not control them at that point. They really don't say anything about it in the script ether way.
