After seeing sceenes of Brandon on the A&E doc what were your thoughts
????

I think this man is the successor of Chris Reeve he will be good if not better than Reeve

The scene in the daily planet with Clark, Lois, Richard, and their son, was amazing. His facial reactions was SPOT-ON, when he found out Jimmy was the only one who cared about him during his absence.

My wife was laughing at me cause i was tearing up some during the documentary and she was saying stuff like I know your gonna cry when you go see this. She was like and i am gonna take a picture of my big bad Marine husband crying at a movie:) All i can say is that it will be for tears of joy.

Even during the screentest I thought Routh had the mannerisms down, lock, stock, and barrel. In my opinion he is great because he doesn't look like he's forcing the character(s). A great portrayal of Superman should have an actor that doesn't think he's Superman...he KNOWS it. I can't wait for Tuesday the 27th.

I don't know. He still looks like Superboy to me.

As Clark, he seems like a young guy working for a college newspaper rather than a grown-up reporter in a big city.

I bet ppl were saying the same thing abt Reeve back in 78...

Well, I watched the doc tonight.

Even in his screen test, Reeve seemed more mature, more adult.

Sometimes people look older than their age.

Reeve had that. I don't think Brandon does.

That's fine if you're going for a younger Superman, but Brandon is supposed to be Chris five years in the future.

I don't think that's true. I think that Reeve had a bigger presence to him, Brandon has a similar dynamic, but feels like he is holding back. Something that I think is an excellent layer to the Superman characterization.

I didn't expect from critics so much positivity about his actiong.

Somebody even said that Routh looks bettter as Superman than Clark

my assesment at this point in time:

Brandon Routh as Clark Kent= very very good , i'm very confident in the fellow.

Brandon Routh as Superman= not quite sold yet, will wait for June 28 to find out.

edit: oh and just to compare:

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor: SOLD! signed, sealed and delivered!:up:

Well one critic said that Routh is better as Superman than Clark.

This is mine:

Routh as Superman - Excellent

Routh as Clark Kent - Perfect

Bosworth as Lois - Very good

Spacey as Lex - Great

Brandon's performance was awesome. It's definitely based on Reeve's, but there was something new he brought for the character that made the performance new, unique and awesome. IMO Routh's performance is on the Reeve level and it's just a matter of days before he's recognized worldwide as Superman.

hes good all around but i cracked up when he ran into perry's door hahahaha!!

To me it showed The Mantel was paased on to The Right MAN . He nailed Mild Mannered Reporter Clark Kent Dead on . his SUPERMAN look's fantastic .

I got chills seeing how close Routh's performance was to Reeve's when portraying Clark Kent. It's pretty scary actually.

Routh will be great as Clark and good as Supes. Of course Spacey OWNS the role of Luthor.

You can't judge his performance one way or another from clips.

WRONG, you certainly can judge his performance in those clips themselves.

F**KING DAMMIT!!!!!!

I don't have a TV, and any friend with cable was busy....
Son of a b**ch I want to see this thing....

Oh well, good to hear the positive reviews

Any word on the DVD release date or online status?

Not fully though.

That post wasn't a knock against Routh BTW.

From the footage I've seen, and all the reviews I've read, I think he'll be pretty good.

Well, of course you can't, but you can judge them within the context of the short scenes themselves.

For example, in the doc last night, Clark was talking to Lois about why Superman didn't say goodbye when he left. Now up to that point, I had my doubts about Routh being anything other than a below average but tolerable actor. When I saw that scene, I was moved. I completely changed my opinion of him. I am no longer worried about his performance in the film.

I am not even sure if that dialogue in the screentest made it into the film.
