Well according to another poster I have put my faith in, yes.

Doesn't say on his filmography. Figures. :(

So out of the three leads, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, who do you think has the best shot at a successful post-Potter acting career?

On IMDb? Never trust them. They're honest to God ****, and not **** as in "insult to homosexuals", **** as in "stupid, idiotic, and never gets the info right", even if he'sonly got a cameo.

You go, Rupert. Originally, I didn't like him, but I've really warmed up to him, he's a great actor, I think he could be a good comedian.

IMDB have proven time and time again they are a very unreliable source. I put more faith in a poster on here then I would from that site.

In fact, no, I was checking his filmography at branaghcompendium and OotP is nowhere to be listed. BUT the News sections states:

Here's a news item which has been all over all the papers, but has not been confirmed by any of the interested parties....

Radcliffe had worked with Branagh before, when he made a guest appearance in the comedy show 'The Play What I Wrote', which Branagh directed. He is now in Australia shooting a movie called 'The December Boys', and then early in the New Year he will start work on the fifth Harry Potter picture, 'The Order Of The Phoenix'. The current Potter movie on release - 'The Goblet Of Fire' - has become a mammoth box office hit and I seriously thought it might get some year-end awards consideration.

Either true or false.

I think that's referring to Dan Radcliffe. Radcliffe is in The December Boys, not Brannagh.

Well, d'oh, you're right. I must've been reading too fast across the lines.

I don't know. They never once showed anything beyond Hogwarts in the endings so far and I reckon they're not going to start now. Although, I'd like to see it, but it seems all too unlikely. Time will tell.

Yeah, I know. But a guy can hope :csad:

I heard somewhere that Emma Watson probably isn't going to continue with acting once the Potter films are done.
Really? Huh. I thought she said somewhere she'd like to keep going post-Potter. Oh well. Not that she was ever going to be taken seriously as an actress anyhow.

I would have liked to have seen Ron and his Qudditch scenes but I can live without them.

Although a nice rousing chorus of Weasley Is Our King would have been great :D

Two things on this: I understand cutting it out for time constraints, I mean how much farther can you go with the quidditch scenes, cinematically, but there going need to figure out an alternative scene for Ron's character, cuz it's important to his growth as a character.

The book was awful. Whatshername probably gets paid by the page. Utterly boring.

The movies are atrocious aswell. I wonder where the hype comes from 'cause frankly...HP sucks ****ing ass.

There fun light reads but most "popular" aren't amazing. I mean look at Davinci Code what a mediocre book and an even worse movie :(

Inconceivable.
It's not wholly improbable. I could see him appearing in more films like Driving Lessons in the future. The positive reviews surrounding it are assuredly satisfying.

Authentic picture of Susie Shinner (young Lily Potter)

After the news that the picture of Susie Shinner (young Lily Potter in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) first sent to MuggleNet back in February is indeed, fake, we are now happy to be able to bring you an authentic picture of Ms. Shinner. Whilst the first image did the rounds of the fandom as a rumour, we can officially confirm the authenticity of this picture – it comes from Ms. Shinner herself

Too be honest, I always felt Ron has been given the short straw in the movies. They haven't bothered to give him really much character depth. He got some in GOF but that wasn't really written very well. He has had lines that have been given to Hermione because because Kloves prefers her, and just really hasn't been able to show why Ron is such an interesting character.

That's why I think Grint does so well. Depsite losing so much character depth, moments etc he still manages to make you care about the character of Ron.

Well I have always thought she has been terrible in the Potter movies, so it's no great loss if she decides to give it up.

No Quidditch for Ron? That's a shame. What the Hell else is he supposed to do in the damn movie?

It's so weird - Chris Columbus tried too hard to overstuff his Potter films, while his successors seem hellbent on skimming their Potter films down to the slimmest of essentials.

I'm actually inclined to agree with you there. She didn't really annoy me in the first film, but she started to annoy me in the 2nd and she's just gotten more annoying since then - and the Hermione Granger character is already somewhat annoying to begin with.

The way I see it is this - Emma Watson is not an actress, she is just a girl who got lucky enough to be cast as a popular character in a series of films based on a popular series of books. If you took Hermione away from her, Emma would be nothing - she'd be just another mildly cute teeny bopper actress in an industry overstuffed with mildly cute teeny bopper actresses.

I'm also inclined to agree with you about the way the films have mistreated Ron, in part because of the jerky screen-writer Steve Kloves, but I'm afraid I don't share your fondness for Rupert Grint, who hasn't done much to make me care about Ron. But other than that, I agree that the films haven't done that good a job of handling Ron's characterization.

Yeah, Ron's main contribution as far as storylines go in OOTP is Quidditch. Sure he's there during the showdown at the Ministry, but Qudditch was the only Ron centred storyline.

I was fine with her in the first, the 2nd she started to bug me but I was able to ignore it. The third and fourth I thought she was terrible and was thinking how bad it is that we have 3 more films with her. In the books Hermione had annoyed me at times, but in the movies it pisses me off the way she overacts everything. Her eyebrows have a life of their own. Even during the little skit during the Queen's birthday thing, she was overacting like mad. Maybe she puts too much effort into her performances, but personally that's because she doesn't understand how to act.

I would think the Prefect stuff will fill in for Ron's contribution, since the Quidditch stuff has been omitted.

I wonder what will become of Ron in the sixth film - will they just write him out entirely by sending him to another wizarding school somewhere else in order to get around the stuff between him and Lavender Brown?

My guess is that the scene where Ron uses his Prefect position to defend Harry from Seamus's slandering will be given to Hermione just as they took Ron's "If you want to kill Harry you'll have to kill us too!" and gave it to Hermione in the 3rd film, and for no better reason than the fact that it'll make Hermione look "cool" and appeal to little girls.

I never really paid attention to her eyebrows, but all the other stuff you just said I pretty much agree with.

Well they have done at least some kind of build up between Ron and Hermione. So the whole Lavender thing is a roundabout way of getting them together, although they will probably find some way around it.

Yeah, and when Hermione herself explained what a Mudblood was, instead of Ron. Why? I have no idea. It makes Hermione look even smarter and just puts Ron in his place more.

I am telling you, it's freaky. Next time you watch a Potter movie, especially GOF, watch her eyebrows. It's like she's trying to hypnotise you.

Carmine Falcone said:
Haha. So you actually like Harry Potter? That's amusing. :)

Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do. It's unpretentious, fun and exciting.

Seriously, you said you found the book boring... Um, how many books do you read, in general?

These are the books that got the ADD generation to sit down and turn off the tv, and YOU were bored by them?

Have you ever read Thomas Pynchon, or Philip Roth? Both highly acclaimed by academics, both much more boring and drawn out than Harry Potter.

Go through the books. Look for places where things could actually be cut, or tightened up. There aren't many. The only one that I thought was a tad overlong was Order of Phoenix, but even with that one, it's extremely difficult to see what should be cut.

So yes, I like the books, and I think your criticisms are incredibly odd and don't really make any sense.
