In August HPANA reported from a visit to EA Games in the UK. The report covered a review of the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video game under development and now the good folks from EA have sent us four screenshots of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Prof. Snape.
According to the press release:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the first in the franchise that we have developed for the next generation consoles," said Harvey Elliott, Executive Producer at EA UK. "Together with current generation versions, we are creating an immersive and, above all, faithful Harry Potter experience that will both accurately reflect the world showcased in the film and also delight fans of all ages."
"Working with EA, we look forward to offering fans the most authentic Harry Potter game to date, one which captures the compelling story of the fiction and high visual quality of the movie," said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "After reading the book and seeing the film, fans will be able to take advantage of the complete interactive experience with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game."
The close and synergistic relationship between book, film and videogame is more defined in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix videogame than ever before. Players will be able to explore the many key locations within Hogwarts in minute detail, each one a visual match to its film equivalent, while being engrossed in the thrilling adventures outlined in the rich narrative of the book.
The game will be released in the following formats: release for the Nintendo Wii™, PlayStation®3, Xbox 360™, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), Nintendo DS™, Game Boy® Advance, and Windows PC in July 2007.
Or a Nimbus. But that would probably only be of benefit to female players. Oh no I did'ent.Matt said:OOTP video game? Hmm...somehow I jst don't see it translating that well. It is arguably the least adaptable of the bunch (Maybe...HBP doesn't exactly scream adaptation).
At anyrate, considering how badly they failed with GOF (which was pretty much made to be translated into a game) I can't see this ending well. That being said, I hope they do something good with the wiimote acting as a wand.

The 800 page argument is bull**** with Order of the Phoenix. Atleast 40 percent of the book is either physical descriptions and details or Harry's internal dialogue. Neither of which need translating. The actual narrative of OOTP is shorter than both Half Blood Prince and Goblet of Fire. Besides, if they feel the need to cut crucial plot elements they certainly should not be adding things like Harry flying around London on his broom for five minutes.Marvel Man said:As A Major, superdy-duper, Harry Potter fanatic, I must say that the trailer is awesome! any of the trailers that give me goosebumps are good. I, unlike some people I read on here, understand that they have to make changes for the movie. Quiditch I can live without because Its not a central part to this movie as other things. I will miss "Weasley is our King" but its okay. Remember people they have to take a 800+ book into a 2 and a half hour movie (prefer 3-4 lol doubtful). From the HBO sneak peek, I can't wait to see Umbridge! Perfect Casting! Bellatrix looks soo awesome as well.
My favorite part of the book is the DA and it looks like there doing good on that.
Only thing I didn't like was Grawp, I imagined more hairy and not well... cheesey.
Right On David Yates! and Good Luck. Please give me a reason to debate with someone, lol. I love a HP debate.
Luna Lovegood was the best thing about the fifth book. She deserved a spot in the trailer.Wesyeed said:You guys know what would have really made people excited after the trailer? If there was a bit of luna Lovegood in it.

Ultimate Movie-Man said:The film hasn't been released, and I think the flying won't even last for two minutes, let alone five. If it was five, the audience would get bored.
If the film isn't how YOU want it (judging on ONE teaser trailer), why don't YOU go work for Warner Bros and tell them to make the film how YOU want it?

Marvel Man said:Habve to agree. Its called an adaption. As much as I love OOTP, my fave of all 6, they is unnecesary parts that don't benefit the main plot and I understand that the producers have to take out parts and tweek parts. I don't mind if they just dont chop the whole book up, ex. POA.
Marvel Man said:Well, they order flies Harry to Grimmauld place, but I agree with what u mean the pars where hary does magic when he is not in school always makes me tiwnge. ex. the first few mintues of POA.
well, u had to be introduced to sirius black on the night bus and after that it lasted 1 minute and a half tops. plus it adds comic relief after the Aunt MArge scene. And I can't beleive I'm sticking up for POA, but that part wasn't bad in it. The rest was awful for me, but I have to admit Alfonso made it very beautiful, just crappy screen writingMatt said:The Knight Bus lasted for five minutes, why should this be any different? And quite your holier than thou rant. I am sure you've never complained about a Uwe Boll movie or movie you've never seen?

Matt said:Adaptation, not re-imagining. Its a thin line, but like with POA where they cut out crucial elements (The Marauders, the Quidditch Cup) in favor for five minutes on the knight bus, or kids making animal noises it crosses that line.

Darren Daring said:Do you really think they could have done those things justice in 5 minutes?
It's funny. Rowling said she wishes she would have thought of that scene for the book.Matt said:Not with that ridiculous Jamacian head, which was the main focus of the scene.
Stewie Griffin said:It's funny. Rowling said she wishes she would have thought of that scene for the book.
Matt said:The Marauders? Sure. All that would've been needed is an additional five minutes during the Shrieking Shack scene. Quidditch Cup? I can understand leaving it out...
