I Know! I was like what the heck are you doing with them making animal noises! Most stupid scene in that movie, plus "I'm King of the World" yell on buckbeak. And it haunts me that they never explained the marauders and the significance of the stag and harry's dad. I like it as a movie, not as an adaption at all. Gof was great.

But honestly I can live with them flying by a cruise ship just as long as noone sees them, and I'm not going to judge the movie by its teaser. I trust Daid Yates. And I think it looks amazing so far.

My main problem with GOF is the short sightedness in making it.

They left out some crucial scenes (most notably Bill Weasley and the hospital wing scene) that will come into play later in the series.

It seems like the starting point for Book 7 will be Bill and Fleur's wedding. it also seems like Bill's being a werewolf will be a plot point. It is going to seem very odd when Ron is just like "Oh yeah, I have an older brother. He is engaged to the girl from the tri-wizard tournament! Lets go to their wedding!...oh yeah, he was also at Hogwarts the night Dumbledore died and is part werewolf. Long story."

As for the hospital wing, it pretty much lays down the ground work for the last three books.

Plus I think reducing the role of Sirius was a bad move. It will make his
death
have a much smaller impact.

GOF seemed very shortsighted.

Plus Dumbledore was incredibly abusive to Harry :-/

It's funny. Rowling said she wishes she would have thought of that scene for the book.

Rowling was plugging the movies. I seriously doubt that is honest as a talking Jamacian head seems nothing at all like Rowling's comedic style. It is almost too slap-stick for her.

Plus, Molly Weasley wasn't there towards the end. I thought that was important cause it shows her motherness for him. But overall I'm glad GOF wasnt chopped like POA.

Ironically, most people I talk to say they like POA better than GOF. I mean POA was beautifully done they jsut ruined the story.

good grief, matt still on about that ;) ... well I can't say I'm too displeased with how things are turning out for the films. I've seen worse adaptations in my life time and all's not lost for details that weren't included so far that are still needed.

I hope to god they show young james, lupin, syrius using the mauraders map. I don't care if they have the characters say they made it, I just want it shown why Lupin knows everything about the map.

Prior incantartum was glossed over in gof as we all know so if they can find a way to just simply say brother wands can't be used against each other, then we're good.

I'm sure. For someone who is known to control her properties so meticulously, if she didn't like something (like the talking heads) I would think she would just not comment on them at all instead of "plugging" them. But then again maybe I am making baseless assumptions about a woman I don't even really knwo at all...kind of like you?

I think cinematically each movie gets better and better.

From an adaptation stand point, they get worse and worse.

Its not baseless at all. My college degree is in writing (specifically journalism and professional writing, but still writing). Just as I can analyze Poe or Shakespeare's writing style based on their works, one can analyze Rowling's. A wacky, talking, Jamacian head is not something that one who has read her work extensively would expect to find in her writings. Just as I wouldn't expect the characters in Poe's writing to settle their differences with talks and hugs Tanner-style.

Well, I wouldn't say worse and worse. The first two were good, third- eh.., and the Fourth- good. But you have to take into account that it must be hard for the writers with the books getting bigger and having to make them into 2 and half hour movies.

But 4th I understood the cuts, and the fifth I understand the cuts with quiditch.

Another thing we have to remember that we have a new writer this movie so there may be better writing.

The thing is, Rowling does not put things in for no reason. Even the slightest detail is important...

Quidditch, it keeps Ron out of the way and sets up the Grawp/"secret weapon" scenes. It also further villifies Umbridge.

Funny, one scene where Hermione actually gets to shine and they add Ron. Karma for the scene stealing wench perhaps? ;)

Well, I don't think ti matters and opnce again nothing is going to be exaclty as the book and thats what people dont get.

I just want to say, there's really no logic behind your complaining abut cutting things out.
They've made a Fantastic Four movie...I didn't see anyone complaining about cutting about 200 issues of the series out of the film  :p

No one cares about the Fantastic Four movie, though, you see; Except, maybe, JAL from the community.

But do you get my point? THere ****loads of comics of everything, yet, the choose to do one story with elements of others, no-one is complaining about them leaving out things from other comics, even though there will inevitable be sequels. They even make up their own story with elements of the comics.
It's the same principal...stop complaining. Start complaining when you've actually seen the movie.

Marvel Man, I wasn't talking to you, because you agreed with me and that makes you cool, Socrates as well...sort of :p

Yeah that movie was crap.

You really can't compare adapting a novel and adapting a comic book character. It's so incredibly different.

As I said before however, I see no problem in complaining after you've watched the movie many times and really are sure about things being left out. Beforehand, however, is way too immature and illogical.

I wasn't saying adapting a comic book character. A comic book.
They are both stories told in book form, and a comic book series is the samre as the hary potter series. Many stories in many environments. Personally, I don't think it's different (hence why I brought it up in the first place), but you can think its different all you want.

YOu're so incredibly wrong here that I don't even know where to begin:up:
