Just watched the trailer, looks fantastic. Loved the racing through London, that last shot of Harry by Canary Wharf is brilliant. Inspired casting, Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix, I would have never thought of her but she is the perfect choice. About time she was in the Potter mix. Dead excited now!

i can't remember the part in the book when the witches fly past parliament

Because, in the book, they never fly past Westminster.

But, seriously, is that so important?

Because it is just a little thing. If there is so much worry of Voldemort attacking Harry, why take the risk? Also, continuity. Harry and Ron were busted in COS for flying a car, when they actually did stick to the clouds, yet there is no consequence at all for flying past every land mark in London (mind you, this is right after the Ministry busts Harry for using a patronus to save his life).

I was watching Goblet of Fire tonight and something struck me.

Barty Crouch Jr. was free prior to the World Cup. Furthermore, Voldemort's conversation with him at the beginning heavily implies that the attack of the World Cup was planned by Voldemort. So if Voldemort had the capability to assemble his death eaters before hand, why not just go to the Weasley house (where only 3 qualified wizards reside), kill the Weasley's and take Harry?

Again, little things like this sort of make you wish they would follow the books plots tighter. Rowling wrote them very precise with everything happening for a reason.

Yep.

Matt, can you not just sit and enjoy the movies? They are movies, not historical documents of the life of a boy wizard that you have to research. You want to build up your knowledge stick to the books.

The movies are just made for entertainment, and Hollywood turns a blind eye to foreshadowing things. They are just entertainment, like the books. You just happen to be (pardon the pun) reading too much into it.

i comepletelt agree who cares if some stuff is left out its all kopesetic although weasly is our king woulda been great

I have to agree, I was looking forward to that storyline. But JK Rowling said there won't be any quidditch in the seventh book, so I guess it's alright to let go of it as it's not building up to anything.

yeah i guess....is it confirmed that Kreacher will be in this cuz i will absolutely love seeing Kreacher also what all do you guys want to see in Half Blood Price i seriously hope the whole felix feliscus or whatever is in there cuz that was awesome and the whole sectumsempra incident and not only that but in Chamber of Secrets (the movie dont know bout the book all ive read is ootp and hbp) didnt Malfoy try and use the sectumsempra spell on harry in their duel?

well, I like the idea because, visually, is much better to see Harry flying past westminster than through the clouds.

I don't think it's a deviation of the books that bother me. Granted, there have to be some alterations, but when there are holes there, that's when there's the problem.

Oh and Emma Watson's 'acting'.

Why should I settle for mediocrcy when I have read the books and know they can be GREAT?

Exactly, and the changes ARE creating holes.

Again, I ask...

if in Goblet of Fire, if Barty was free prior to the world cup and Voldemort was capable of assembling an army of death eaters to attack the world cup, why not just send them to the Weasley residence, kill them all, and take Harry? It kind of negates things. Sort of like a James Bond movie where the villian makes an outrageous plan to kill him instead of just shooting him in the head.

Matt you care too much. I understand you love the novels and so do I. But it seems you lack the ability to over look the minor flaws of the films and just sit back and enjoy them. There are several things about GoF that bothered me, specifically how they totally screwed up Barty Crouch Jr's escape and basically negated Sirius Black's miraculous escape from Azkaban. I think the plot would have been much tighter and more engaging if they would have left in how faked his own death. The watered down version didn't do it for me...but I still enjoyed the film immensely. I think OotP is going to on par with PoA as the best made film in the series. Is it really worth getting all pissy about the Order not flying in the clouds? Sure its a silly change, but visually it will be fun to watch, just like Harry being chased by the dragon was fun to watch. Now if they start making major changes to the plot (which Rowling wouldn't allow) then we have something to complain about. I believe Yates is a true Harry Potter fan. He said the first thing he did when he got the job was he ran out and bought the books and read all of them. That is something I am sure Newell did not do.

What's most important to me is that they get the characters right. So far they've done excellent with that aspect.

Cyclops was garbage in the xmen movies but I didn't care because my fav character wolverine was perfectly portrayed up until the last movie where he was turned into Wolverclops.

So for me, I don't care if it's not word for word as long as the characters are still intact.

Can we really call what Emma Watson does "acting"?

I guess....still, little things bother me. I mean, flying through every land mark may seem small, but think about it. It will happen not even ten minutes after Harry is nearly expelled for using magic publically. That makes it a bit of a plot hole.

Besides, everyone who reads Rowling knows there are no little things with her. Everything is done for a reason.

The problem is, with each movie the characters become less and less intact.

Ron is being marginalized no end. Hermione is being over-used to no end. Many key characters don't even have roles. And lets not forget Dumbledore. The way he is yelling at Wizengamont in the trailer shows they have still yet to get him back on track. I really hope they sack Gambon for number 6.

I don't think they're going to ditch Gambon, for better or worse.

I'm not a Gambon gusher or Gambon basher either way, but I can only imagine what Peter O'Toole would have been like as Dumbledore.

I hate the way the films portray Ron & Hermione. Can't say it any more eloquently than that.

I drool at the thought of Peter O'Toole as Dumbledore. As a close friend of Richard Harris he almost definitely would've accepted the role for his friend, probably played it closer to Harris' portrayl (which is never a bad thing) and considering how into his roles O'Toole gets, he likely would've researched the character (unlike Gambon who for some reason refuses to read the books).
