It's their lifestyle choice :D

But seriously, how come there isn't a gay wizard, or a lesbian witch, or anything like that in the Potterverse? I can understand the frist book, maybe the second book, but the later ones would be more suitable for a gay character.

Dealing with death and war in a childrens book is far different than dealing with overt homosexuality. Besides, if she did that, these books would just get political and Rowling has done a damn good job of keeping Muggle politics out of it so far.

How would it get political? They'd just have, like...

Ron was playing with Crookshanks, with Hermione watching him from a bedside opposite him, smiling.
'You seem great with animals...' Hermione started.
'Yeah...I guess...' Ron stumbled out, never being this close to Hermione before. At the moment, Harry walked through the door with a grim look on his face.
'Harry, what's wrong?' Hermione asked softly. Harry sat down next to her, still looking down at the floor with a grim look on his face.
'I think I'm gay.' Harry blurted out.

Sure, that's never gonna happen, but if these three characters had any heart for someone who came out, they'd have to stand behind the gay character and support them in every way possible, since these are the three most power magical people in Hogwarts. harry being magically powerful, hermione being powerful intellectually, and Ron being powerful because he's a friend of harry and hermione.

A boy can dream...it's just I think it would add that extra bit of dimension to the books, other than having a good versus evil story, I mean, it's detailed already, but having things like that make it more three-dimensional. You'd be surprised at how many gays and bisexuals there are out there. I know a fair few. Which is why I am surprised there arent any at Hogwarts...it's not like Britain's a 100% straight country :o they created pomp rofls

a lot of young, young people read the harry potter titles. maybe parents wish to inform the'r children of homosexuality at a time they deem fit, not a book.

That is the WORST idea I have heard in a LONG time. Please go away now and never post in this thread again. How does that add dimension to Harry? The books have never even hinted at this idea ever. That would be a cheap and insulting character twist that is completely unneeded.

I didn't say it would add dimension to HARRY, I said it would add dimension to the STORY. Read.

Your post is 100% correct, as I said IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, I was just saying a character would come out of the closet and the trio would support them.

Yeah, I know, which is why I said the later books...I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it probably wouldn't happen, or if it did, wouldn't mean much.

In what way would it add to the story though? If it were added, what does it have to do with anything currently going on, it would be adding it in there for the sake of it, nothing more.

lmfao today i did a seminar for phsychology and my topic was sociopaths and i showed clips from harry potter 2 and 4 to prove voldemort was a sociopath for a few minutes of my presentation. It was a 25 minute seminar though but w/e

i got a 95 percent and my teacher said the voldemort stuff was a good touch.

lmfao harry potter owns all.

harry potter being gay reminds me of all the talk last summer about superman being gay...and bryan singer (a gay man himself), who directed superman returns just said two words "he isnt".

lmfao i think that applies to harry too. And to the person above who mentioned the mirror scenes and the nearly headless nick scenes....J.k rowling has said the mirror is important to book 7 so it will probably make the cut but there has been no talk of john cleese returning as Nearly headless nick.

How did the gay talk about Harry Potter make it's way in here?
Don't know, but I'm still waiting for a "Brokeback Hogwarts" gag to be thrown in here.

HARRY: "God I wish I knew how to quit you."
RON: "So why don't you?"

OOTP preview in French magazine Cine Live and Japan's Newsweek magazine:

we need to really get back to Harry Potter talk and not gayness. That's not what the movie is about.
