well, just saw it and it was awesome! 8/10.

the positive things:

1) The fight of Harry against his inner demon. Dan's performance is getting better and better.

2) Evana Lynch is GREAT as Luna.

3) and as great as Evana, is Helena Boham Carter portraying Bellatrix

4) Ginny's looks to Harry

5) Every single time Snape appeared. Rickman owns the role.

6) all the fighting sequences in the ministry were just AWESOME. Death Eaters and Aurors fights are damn kickass! . I'm already drooling about the final battle in Howarts in the sixth movie. November 2008. I'm there!

7) The fact that this is not a movie to entertain children. Yates was faithfull to the essence of the book and he made the movie a lot darker.

so, what needed it to be perfect? or better said: what it lacked?

1) Snape's remember. How could they not put the scene where Lily helps Snape?. That's really important for the future!

2) the final conversation between Dumbledore and Harry was the biggest disappointment. I mean, common people! A little more emotion!

3) The prophecy should have been told by Dumbledore and explained better. The reaction of Harry to the prophecy wasn't proportional to the importance of it's meaning.

It's time for more Rottentomatoes Photoshop phun!

LMAO These are hilarious!

First of all, stop writing paragraphs when a sentence will do. Second, be less of a prick. Third, repeat the first two steps. Fourht, repeat jsut step 2. Fifth, I didn't see Either of those movies. Sixth, and this is very important, I gave it a three becasue the movie was dumb.

Chaesters completely right, your a respected poster on these boards, and for lack of a better word..your acting childish.

The movies cinematic qualities alone (set direction, fx, direction, cinematography etc.)merit the movie at least a 5, then if you add on the intelligent story..even if the movie isnt your cup of tea, any fan of cinema should be able to put personal dislike aside and give credit to a films cinematic merit.

movies like "are we done yet" deserves a 1..this doesnt.

Even Spider-Man 3 deserves better then what it gets, although i admit i do not like that movie.

^Thank you and he is not the only one sadly. Just saw it again, 3 times! Better and better each time.

9.0/10, the second viewing is much better...let aside all of my preconcieved pickings from the wonderful book. Best of the Potters yet.

2)No mention as to why Harry's broom is gone. They could have just taken their brooms to London instead of the Thestrals. To add to that, Ron, Hermione, and Neville cannot see them and they I guess just hopped onto the invisible flying monster horse with ease and no discomfort. Again, this was adressed in the book.

I assumed that they took the Thestrals because according to the movies Harry is the only one with a broom. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna & Ginny are not all going to fit on the one Firebolt. Thestrals were right there, they were kinda convenient and it was better then having a bunch of people who don't even fly that often trying to get to London on a broom.

They all have brooms, look back to Madaam Hooch's lessons in movie one. All students go through broom flying classes. Ron was there alongside Harry. It is just a minor annoyance that could have easily been patched. Dolores takes Harry's broom and locks it away because of his scuffle with Malfoy on the Quidditch pitch. It also, in the book, has Ginny, Neville, Hermione, and Ron all questioning what they are riding and Ron cannot even get on it...quiet a funny moment.

I agree, I would have loved to see that seen properly done in the movie. I especially would have loved to see some Quidditch, alteast the fight that leads to Harry, Fred & George being kicked off the team and their brooms being taken away.

I'm just trying to think of ways to rationalize the Thestrals being used instead of brooms. From movie 1 with the flying lessons those are all school brooms that according to the book atleast, vibrate when you go to high, fly slightly to the left and can be outflown by butterflies. Those aren't exactly what you're looking to use for speedy transportation from Hogwarts which is supposedly somewhere in Scotland to London, especially when you're trying to rescue someone from Lord Voldemort at that very moment.

I always thought they were the school brooms.

I saw this yesterday at the 6:20 showing just made it in time. POA is still my favorite Potter film. I hope Alfonso does Harry Potter 7 its be fitting. None the less OOTF was well tied i think with GOF as Second best Potter film but to be honest all 5 films have been pretty good. There is no real big differance for me in this series.
This series has consistantly very good seqeuls and that is something people cannot say this many films in.
I have read the large book of this and there is alot of stuff missing but i think the actors for me make up the missing parts.
I hope for more Hagrid and Snape in HBP cause they are the for me the scene stealer from the trio.
Voldemort is alway amazingly creepy good but you saw more of him. To be honest Hermione is smarter then Harry but Emma for me has always been good as Hermione.
Ron didn't have alot to do here but is always the consistent good best friend. I liked this movie for making me hate The Purple biotch Umbridge. You so could tell that snape wanted to curse her .
I have no real complaints. for me it was an 8./5/10 but voted a 9/10.
I have given a lot of 9/10 this year and 8/10 especually this summer.
Very good movie year. ALot of dvd's i have to buy.

did syrius call harry "james" during the final fight, right before
he died? after harry knocked lucious' wand out of his hand?

i could have sworn i heard him say "nice one, james!"

the movie was well done, and still the franchise moves on strong... next one is bound to be even darker

that, plus the (ang lee's) hulk = graup

very poorly designed, in my opinion.

the movie still rocked my face, though.

nobody else agrees that the movie lacked these three things? :csad:

^

the prophecy will be brought up in the next movie, for sure. in this one, he just barely discovered it by the movie's end, so i don't think there was time to go into it extensively.

the dumbledore and harry conversation, well, i chalk that up to the new dumbledore. the old one had a warmth to him that the new one lacks severely.

This Dumbledore is about tough love. He cares about his students, but knows that with Voldemort hanging around they're in for some dangerous ****.

No Richard Harris was just better.

I'll have to disagree on that one. The darker the tone gets, the more intense he'd have to be, and Richard Harris wouldn't have gotten to that point.

another gripe.... syrius' fire talk... he looked really tv-movie compared to his last appearance.

did they severely cut back the budget for this one or what?
