The Official TIH Marketing Discussion Thread

I think James Bond is a good example. They don't spend time explaining away a disappointing movie, they just move on to the next adventure.

I'm puzzled about the strategy of movie geek sites viewing action footage and then writing about it is supposed to be interesting to the general public. It seems the opposite of Iron Man's marketing which concentrated on a compelling and charismatic main character first. Who knows, maybe it will work, but so far they seem to be selling TIH as an effects reel instead of as a story.

Reboot...Sequel...Redo...who gives a flying #$#%...I just hope the movie is good. Batman Begins was one of the best films, and the action was ho-hum as can be, but the characters and story were engaging. In seeing Hulk, it looks like both the characters and action will deliver...Tim Roth is an excellent actor and a perfect villian. From what I've seen, he's not over the top and cheesy, but is a pretty intense and realistic looking soldier. Do I really care that they tweaked the pass eforts to merge comic, tv and movie...not a rat's @ss...come on. The marketing started off slow...probably due to the close proximity to Iron Man, but it's REALLY picked up, and I think it's going to deliver the results needed...has ANYBODY seen much in ads for Hulk weeken nemesis...The Happening...nope!

Kung Fu Panda opens a week before the Hulk.... I hope that Kung Fu Panda doesn't eat into the Hulk profits.. kiddie-animation flicks..

Universal should make the Hulk open on Wednesday instead of Friday.. give it a good semi-full week for the weekend..

I think Panda is probably the biggest threat, because anything geared toward kids makes a killing, no matter how bad. We shall see.

Marketing is picking up especially on kids channels, though it's not for the movie itself it's for the Hulk crap coming out.

well, you never know. These kid movies are big business because parents herd their little mistakes/ego trips in the theater for a few hours of peace. But just because it's animated doesn't mean it's going to be a hit.

Well Hulk is a separate personality/character from that of Bruce Banner. IM and Starks act pretty much the same. So the compelling character marketing that worked for IM, wouldn't work in the case of TIH.

My two oldest daughters want to see the movie based on the commercials they have seen on tv. This is the Hulk movie that I want to take my kids to go see (well, not my 6 year old, not sure about her yet). I am hoping there are other people who are old like me who have been waiting a long time for a real Hulk movie to show their kids. the Ang Lee movie just wasn't it.

As I get older, I am starting to realize, adults are this far more than children (and thats pretty bad considering children are naturally ego-centric.) :oldrazz:

The tv spots have been so good and aired so much theyre doing a great job making up for a lack of other early ****.

I really haven't seen much Hulk stuff out there. Where I am it seems they are only doing the tv spots

I think what he's saying is that children are the parent's ego trip, not that the kids themselves are ego-centric...but the parents are
Pretty rude, but I get it.

Given what I've seen, it is very appropriate in some cases. People want children, but dont want to be a parent. Not saying everyone who has kids is like that, but I'm tired of society giving in to these types of adults who have no desire to give kids boundaries and control, but want things set up to protect them so they dont have to. Just my own personal opinion.

I brought my son to the first Hulk movie hoping to turn him on to my childhood hero. He 23 now and he'll be going with me again. I hope this movie erases that movie from his mind. So far it sure looks like it will. Thank you Frenchy and crew:yay:

amen brother.

Well, this is the time that marketing usually ramps up for movies. All the early $#!t is for the fans, not general audiences. Can never understand why people on this board don't understand this, it happens with every movie they're really interested in. If it's not hyped to an enormous degree the moment it's announced the studio doesn't believe in it. We don't need a bunch of marketing until the under one month before release mark, otherwise people get sick of the marketing.

Kevin Feige on Edward Norton...

I think he's done an amazing job at sort of setting it to rest, supporting the movie and he's making a number of appearances coming up that I don't think have been revealed yet. So I don’t want to say what they are.

So we should be seeing Norton giving interviews and such very soon.

He never refused to do marketing, he was just busy with other projects, so there is nothing to worry about.

I hope they have norton and Liv on Jonathan Ross (UK talk show).

I'm worried about these scenes being used for marketing affecting the film.

At IGN,Feige says how the scene where Banner tries to kill himself is going to be used for the marketing, meaning it's probably not in the film anymore.

That really sucks, would have been a hell of an opener for the film.

I agree, it would've been excellent but perhaps they felt suicide would be too much for alot of the general public in a superhero movie. Either way the new opening sounds pretty cool.
