I think James Bond is a good example. They don't spend time explaining away a disappointing movie, they just move on to the next adventure.
I'm puzzled about the strategy of movie geek sites viewing action footage and then writing about it is supposed to be interesting to the general public. It seems the opposite of Iron Man's marketing which concentrated on a compelling and charismatic main character first. Who knows, maybe it will work, but so far they seem to be selling TIH as an effects reel instead of as a story.
