Hey kewl! A nickname! Works for me.
I honestly think they've taken this whole mess beyond the point where either option is gonna help their case in a positive manner. A great majority of people will ask, "Why isn't it the guy from Smallville?" , whether the series is off the air or on, and it won't matter when they've last seen it, at this point. (Think re-runs, ABC, syndication, DVD blah blah). I believe WB, so far, has underestimated the public's mental capacity. The public can tell the difference between a movie and a TV show. Really, they can. They just may not WANT to. There's a difference. A BIG difference. No amount of fancy footwork can divorce the public from what it's already decided it likes.
It's already too late to stifle a link to the show, if it were ever possible. Cancelling Smallville early isn't gonna change the association, but ending Smallville purely for the sake of a movie that TW isn't even in, might just make a lot of folks plain livid.
Of course, if it was known that TW was cast in the movie, and Smallville was no longer on tv for that reason, many fans would accept that and eagerly await the movie.
There are also those fans (and others?) whose line of thinking revolves around.... TW wanting the role, being offered the role, and something happening to squelch that deal... *If* the squelching was due to interference with the TV show and scheduling, wouldn't it be strange for WB to cancel Smallville, thus making scheduling NOT a problem, and still not have TW in the role.....(ah conjecture).
I for one, still hold on to the faint hope that miracles happen and last quarter football plays are a possibility. And 'tea for two' would also be a nice treat...
Humor me a bit....clapping to wake up Tinkerbell has always been a part of my therapy. :P
