You ever read my review?
I did, I did! Great review. Definitely better than... is it Neal @ SHP? Well, you guys know who I mean. That reviewer needs to take a chill pill. I think he's lost it LOL.

Hey, speaking of reviews, K-Site has one up now about Unsafe and it's a beaute. I personally really enjoyed the episode (big surprise there), and K-Site's reviewer just echoed much of my opinion. Was a great read. I freakin' laughed out loud when I got to this part:
...back to the leopard wedding suite. Despite myself, I actually found this scene slightly boring. All the foreplay was funny and cute, but looked extremely fake and staged, and Alicia had like, 3 things to be able to tear off without being naked. I was actually more concerned about Alicia's torn, likely expensive wedding dress than anything else... except, maybe, that hip thing Welling did. Did you hear that sound? That was a million fangirls falling over dead...
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Yup!!! :D

The whole review can be read here:

Also, it looks like SV is gonna capitalize on NFL fever (go PATRIOTS!) with this ad, which is skedded to hit various publications going into next week...

One thing us Americans like is our football, yesseree Bob! ;)
Well, at least until Baseball season starts. LOL
It'll be interesting to see the ratings for Recruit.

Way cool. 'Bout time they start print ads, no time like the Feb sweeps to start I guess. ;)

Although, you gotta wonder how accurate that is... are they actually going to show any football? Would they practice with a recruit this time of year?

Oh d'uh! I feel so stupid.. I never even considered the connection.. Superbowl - football ep... makes sense. Now if the Bears were in it, I might be a little more astute about the whole thing. (not holding my breath about the Bears, btw)

Niiiice poster...

Does anyone else think that Tom's getting frickin' HUGE lately? I mean even more than the usual, big and buff Clark.

I wonder if he's prepping for something?

the role of superman. and here is why

TW says he has a new movie, he can't say way.

then HWSNHM was cast as clark/superman (or so we think)

TW says nothing about the casting till date.

smallville producers and singer meet.hmmmm

TW still gettign buffy.

Sv season 5 a possiblety.

conclusion. HWSNBm was cast as young clark in the singerman movie and TW is the really man of steel.

I missed this. *waves*

You put weight on when you can't exercise as much. That's why Tom's bigger but a little chunky. :p Backache, y'know...

HAH! Good call!

Although, you gotta wonder how accurate that is... are they actually going to show any football? Would they practice with a recruit this time of year?
Depends upon the time of the year in the show. Has it even been referenced? All we know is that Clark is in his senior year right now.

...which kind of begs another question. If Clark is 17, how is it that Lana is already 18? I suppose it's possible, but I always thought of Clark as being slightly older. Could just be a subconscious thing however 'cause Welling IS older than his on-screen school mates.

The "hip thing" about did me in.
I'm surprised they let that slide, especially since Alicia promptly climbed on board right afterwards. It WAS quite provocative for a "family" show - but I'm NOT complaining LOL.

Shhh! Bite your tongue! Don't jinx us. Rams' fans thought they had it in the bag four years ago too. And they had a two TD spread! The Pats are lucky to get 6 pts. So shush! :D

LOL@all of the theories. Clearly, Welling IS bigger this year - and it IS mostly muscle. Come ON! Look at him!

But as James has pointed out time and time again, that fact in and of itself is not unusual. Welling has put on muscle mass *every* season. Considering the character he's playing, it makes sense. And who knows? It might actually be in his contract as a requirement. That said, it IS fun to speculate, so here's my two cents...

Q: What would Singer and Co. do if something prevented HWSNBN from being in the film?
A: They'd have to get somebody else, and QUICK.
Q. Who else did Singer technically sign for the role?
A. Duh!
Q. Wouldn't any such contracts still be valid, at least until principle started?
A. Makes sense to me.
Q. Would that include physical preparation?
A. Makes sense to me.
Q. With all of the pissing and moaning coming from various SV fishbowls across the net, why wouldn't TPTB put a kibosh on all the negativity by just saying Welling turned down the role?
A. Uh, because he didn't?
Q. With production on SV's 4th season due to conclude in ten weeks, wouldn't we have heard by now what film Welling was signed to that he referenced at the TCAs - last AUGUST?
A. If it was Superman, he probably still wouldn't be allowed to discuss it until after they start. If he has another film in mind for this summer, wanna bet we won't know what it is officially until *after* March 3rd?

Okay, that was three cents. But it was fun throwing that schitt out there. Lets see what sticks. ;)

Omar's recap on TWop is up it's funny as always.

Oooh, this discussion again...

Eh. He is bigger - but he's not that much bigger. He's really not. As ever dependant on the camera angle, he was almost the same 18 months ago. The main difference this year is in the midriff, and also that they're showing his chest off even more than usual... what is it, episodes, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11... and counting.

Look at CbtD from May 2003. Is he bigger now? Sure. Is he HUGELY bigger? Not so much...

In his case you just need to find the right camera angle to accentuate his size, et voila, he could almost be two different people. He's your veritable Clark Kent.

Oh dear, I guess I shouldn't point out that CbtD wasn't announced until mid march? Don't count on hearing about things early.

Where can I read triplet's reviews?

Over here.

I only started reviewing this past summer so I have done all of season 4 and some select others. The selected others are mostly just some of my faves from seasons 1-3 and a few I really hated (like Delete).

*Whew* that was a tad more than three cents! But I'd be happy to throw in some superglue if that'll help any of it stick.

(I love knowing that GMTA) ;)

He doesn't need to be - for either role. *ahem*

Hee! Good to know I'm not the only one keeping track. And it's nice to see they're showing off what they should have been doing since day one.

This coming from the person who goes on to discuss the importance of camera angles. :p

You're preaching to the choir on that last point. :D

You mean like publicly talking about signing film contracts seven months before they're formally announced? LOL I'd stick out my tongue again, but I've already used it twice and don't want to overdo it. ;)

Oh James, I KNOW there's tons of mitigating factors that goes on with these sorts of things. Sometimes the actors in question can discuss 'em, and sometimes they can't. Reasons can vary. I'll say this much though - I'd be EXTREMELY surprised to read a formal (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, etc.) report of Welling's next project (to be shot during the SV hiatus during the summer) *before* March 3rd. Call it an educated hunch if "theory" is too strong.

I like to keep my thoughts in the Phantom Zone. :p

AgentPat said:

Precisely my point. ;) I could cap a shot from Unsafe where he looks almost as thin as a rake. Entirety of point? Find shots from a similar angle with similar lens doohickies and he hasn't changed as much as it seems.

For a start they seem to be doing a lot of lower angles up onto his chest lately; it foreshortens the length of his torso, and broadens and deepens his chest.

AgentPat said:

He knew about CbtD months before. Seven months, perhaps not, but at least four or five. You can (theoretically) talk about anything you like, as often and early as you like, when you're not saying what the thing actually is. Circumstances dictate what happens and when, as much as anything. TCA's last august? Circumstance threw a curve ball and Tom wasn't supposed to open his mouth.

I agree, but I'd have the same sentiment with or without any other mitigating factors. That there could be other reasons for the delay is irrelevant to my stance that it would happen much the same way regardless. But then you knew that. :p

BTW... just to be clear, I am in no way suggesting that there's gonna be some miraculous switch at the eleventh hour. HWSNBN has been cast in Singerman and from what I can tell, everything appears to be plodding along towards that end. I would imagine Welling has *something* lined up for the summer. Probably won't be the lead in anything major (I don't think he would have the time for that), and then he and the rest of the cast will be back to start shooting SV's 5th season. That's what my crystal ball is telling me right now.

That said, 175 million dollar tentpole films have to have Plan B's, just in case the sheit hits the fan unexpectedly. And those sorts of Plan B's are rarely discussed publicly unless they need to be. That's all I'm saying.

So, Jason... if you do hear of Tom's next project, are you going to share the news with us, or will you make us wait to read it in the trades, or worse, hear it elsewhere? I'm sure there are a lot of Welling-haters out there just waiting to mock whatever it is he chooses to do next, and I don't want to get the "scoop" from one of them.
