I was thinking the adverts for it (it starts on Hallmark in the UK this month) looked really good - until the joking implication that fibromyalgia is purely psychological. I know he's a doctor who doesn't conform, and who basically does and says whatever the hell he likes, but still. Making jokes about very real and debilitating illnesses is not cool.

No, it's not cool.

I have a love hate relationship with the show... sometimes they can be downright offensive.

The only reason to watch House is because of Laurie, he's that good. The show is very unrealistic, medically speaking. A doctor friend who watched the show on my suggestion couldn't stand it.

I wouldn't say it's totally unrealistic..for a TV medical show it's actually not too bad. I emphasize for a TV SHOW. I love House, and so do most of the medical people I work with, but you can't look for strict medical accuracy, more for the overall entertainment value, and Dr. House is entertaining as hell. Again, going completely against reality, he says a lot of the things to patients that everyone would love to say, but obviously can't. I think the rest of the cast is fabulous too. What I would like to see, is for the team to lose a patient though.. they need to shake up the formula a bit.

Spacey is really good actor, no doubt about it. LA Confidential is by far my favorite film of his, and his character on Wiseguy was the highlight of that series for me.

I loooooove Steve Martin. He's on my list, maybe right after Tom even. So, yeah.. any movie with both of them in it doesn't even need the sound on.

Really? Was it scheduling issues?
Seems strange that things wouldn't have been worked out a bit more solidly before it was announced that he was in it. I understand things change, but it seems like it's been quite a while since he was announced.

Btw..Just got back from seeing "Sin City." Amazing film. Not for everyone, but man.. I loved it.

Wasn't something they could have foreseen: They moved up the shoot schedule for House because Fox wants to premiere the show in mid-August instead of late September.

Somebody in the Supes forum posted part of this week's EW that went into that a bit...

Seems strange that things wouldn't have been worked out a bit more solidly before it was announced that he was in it. I understand things change, but it seems like it's been quite a while since he was announced.

To be fair: I don't think Singer knew about that when they signed Laurie, Fox only made the decision to renew the show a couple weeks back.

i all honesty i don't like most medical shows, i work as a microbiologist and hospitals are nothing close to what you see on screen and it pisses me off. i have seen house and some of the medical logic they use there is plain stupid.

Speaking of DTS, I have some good conversation about something someone said on there; the girl who mentioned knowing a cousin of Tom's. Is almost certainly telling a few tales.

Making deals with his mom about not modelling in his underwear, indeed... piffle and poppycock. If you're going to lie you should at least check the evidence first. I may have a little more evidence than most everyone else, but still...

That said, having a thread in a forum that is specific to a single celebrity for folks to post their impressions upon meeting said celeb isn't that bizarre. Those sorts of posts I do tend to read, though I haven't caught up with DTS outside of the photos' thread in a while. I jump around. I think I've posted more over at K-site in the last week than I have in the last three months. LOL This place is still "home" though.

That said, having a thread in a forum that is specific to a single celebrity for folks to post their impressions upon meeting said celeb isn't that bizarre.

It comes down to being user-friendly - when you have about two threads with an entire forum dedicated to them, it's not very user-friendly. If someone is lazy, in a hurry, or just not very computer literate, it takes far more effort to find threads in about a dozen differen forums than it does in a single well-organised one.

Well, I'm all for KISS message boards. (Not the band) As I've said in the past, I'd rather a thread go off topic now and then than have 10 different threads about the same thing - or similar subjects. It's too much of a pain to read, whereas scrolling past off-topic stuff is pretty easy. But that's just me.

I *used* to be a night crawler. But I've gotten in the habit of getting up around 5am these days (yeah, it REALLY sux!) so I can get morning aerobics in. If I don't do it in the morning, I won't do it at night since evenings are for weights - and I'd MUCH rather do that. I LOATHE aerobics.
