The information on Jolt is bizarre. I certainly won't miss a character that had no personality and barely played a role in the last film. However, I'm still wondering why Bay threw the character into the storyline at the last minute if there was no greater purpose for Jolt in a sequel.

I'm hoping the fire truck turns out to be Inferno. He was one of my favorite G1 Autobots. Of course I still have to worry about the Bayformers mentality of making classic G1 characters look virtually unrecognizable. So far the only transfomers that looked similar to their G1 robot modes are Optimus, Jazz, ravage, and Brawl(Who was called Devastator? WTH?).

Megatron looked like a Go-bot rocklord in the original film.

In the sequel Megatron had something that resembled a robotic ding-A-ling.

Frenzy looked like one of the cyborgs in Virus.

Starscream looked like a cross between Ed-209 and a robotic chicken.

Devastator looked like the robotic version of Grape Ape with apish looking
balls.

Bonecrusher looked like the Garthim in The Dark Crystal.

Skorpnok didn't even have a robotic mode. Did he have a personality or was he remote controlled by other decepticons?

Then there's the mischaracterizations of multiple transformer personalities:

Ironhide: Never spoke with an english accent nor did he ever tell jokes in the G1 cartoon.

Bumblebee: Taking one of the most talkative and wise cracking G1 transformers and turning him into a mute who communicates with a radio for two films has to be one of the greatest storyboard ideas ever conceived in the history of cinema.

Optimus: He was way too brutal in the sequel. Optimus frequently kicked decepticons butt in the cartoon but, he also showed a diplomatic and even a merciful side towards his enemies. We saw very little of that in the first film and none in the second. It's not in Prime's character to say "any last words" or "give me your face" to a dieing decepticon.

I find the robotic stripper rumor hard to believe but, if that does turn out to be true I will tell every friend, relative, and acquaintance with children to avoid seeing this turd.

They wanted to advertise the car model at the last minute

It's true.

Jolt was only thrown in because GMC wanted to show off the Volt. That's the only reason.

Also, the stripper bot thing was just some of us making a joke. There's no truth to it at all.

The movies are not G1. Just like Beast Wars was not G1, Robots In Disguise was not G1, the Unicron Trilogy was not G1 and Animated is not G1.

One more time for the Micheal Bay brown nosers. If the movies aren't G1 or based on any other transformer cartoon where the characters are a little more recognizable what's the purpose of giving any of the robots G1 names? Of course the answer is because Micheal Bay and his production team want to deceptively draw in the largest die hard transformer audience inspite of creating a transformer universe where humans get more screen time, some human weapons are more powerful than alien ones, and most of the G1 characters are unrecognizable.

Thats the biggest frustration for me. As a Starscream fan, I was like WTF Triangular Chicken?

lol.

The movies are based on G1 somewhat. That's the reason they use G1 characters and stories. That's the reason Peter Cullen is voicing Optimus. That's the reason Optimus isn't a gorilla or firetruck. That's the reason Sam's sidekick is bumblebee. That's the reason Optimus quotes are lifted directly from G1.

Even other cartoons you mentioned as being outside G1 are based on G1.

So what does that mean? Everything in the movie won't be exactly like G1 but many fans will want as much G1 influence as possible because G1 put Transformers on the map and is the most popular.

I still don't understand why they go OVER THE TOP in terms of potty/sexual humor in the films but in other cases they try and play it grim & serious.

Case in point, the Jet-Optimus transformation should have been done Armada style complete with spinning, blurred color backgrounds, close ups on the various body parts as they combined and Optimus shouting, "JET-OPTIMUS ENGAGE!"
Oh and synth version of Transformers theme playing in the back

I mean why not? It's not like you care about anything but the explosions, boobs, robots and exploding robot boobs. Just go over the top. People will still watch this nonsense

:whatever:

It's a movie about living machines who fight a civil war over Earth's energy. Why do you need to cram in robot testicles, robot piss, and robot male strippers?

Yes, Transformers was for kids but is also science fiction. These machines are alive which questions what qualifies as life. Their neverending war over Earth's energy is similar to middle east conflict. The fact that the decepticons ancestors were military class and the autobot's were a worker class resembles the conflicting interest of the military industrial complex and the working class.

You'll never see decepticons raiding oil rigs and power plants in Bayformers even though they did it all the time in the cartoon. Bay would rather show farting and humping Transformers. Why is that? It's because of Bay's knee jerk neo-con politics and his contempt for the source material.

Hopefully the reboot will try to elevate the source material instead of dumb it down out of resentment.

Listen to this man. He is intelligent and speaks the truth. Decoy123 is basically describing JJ Abram's Transformers which we will hopefully get in the near future. I won't nitpick one bit regardless of quality because it WILL be better than the current trash

If JJ Abrams ever does Transformers, it will be 100 times better than Bay's version for sure.

I never said the movies weren't based on G1. I was just under the impression that some of you guys wanted them to be EXACTLY the same. Evidently I was wrong. :yay:

As for Jolt not being in the movie, I'm a little disappointed. He had an awesome design and those whips were cool weapons. He could've had a great action scene, at least.

Yes, i too hope the Fire truck turns out to be named Inferno. The re-designs are one thing but they should at least name them with names that sound familiar to the fan base.

Sorry Golgo.... Inferno has already been stricken off the list... as has Pyro and HotSpot

I'd laugh if the fire truck ended up being HOT Rod (even though they can't use that name for legal purposes).

It's likely Ultra Magnus though, I agree.

That red robot head, looked a little like Optimus in the face, which leads me to think that's the fire truck.

Magnus or Grimlock IMHO...

Why do people seem to forget that HASBRO has a huge hand in all of this? They are the ones with the copyrights on the characters. They are the ones selling the toys. They are going to reuse names, just like they have over the last 30 years. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING MICHAEL BAY IS DOING!!!

my only reason for thinking it could be Grimlock is that the fans have been screaming for the Dinobots since before the first movie... and Nelson's comments about the fans fainting when they hear the name....

What legal reasons?

I think "Ultra Magnus" will get fans to faint as much as "Grimlock"

The latter will make them faint in a bad way tho. Grimlock a firetruck?
